There is no shortage of coffee makers out there. But the Café Grind & Brew is for the coffee purist. This will make getting a better quick cup of coffee a breeze. It is well designed and made. It is also very stylish so it will look great in any kitchen. you can easily brew right to your travel mug for even more flexibility. All the standard functions that you would expect are here. Selections for mug size, carafe size, brew strength and timer are all here. The ability to more precisely set the temperature is great. But the star of the show is being able to go right from grind to brew. This is where you get the flexibility to create the perfect brew for your taste and it's easy to do. The grinding process is as simple as dumping in the beans and selecting your type if grind (finely ground and such). This to me is what makes the biggest difference in the coffee. You can use it like a normal coffee maker with your favorite coffee from the store, but really why would you? After a few goes at it you will find it just as easy to make coffee with freshly ground beans and you will never look back. Also, keep in mind that this can be wi-fi connected to help with starting the brew. Standard timer settings work for me, but it's nice to see it is as connected as most other home appliances these days.

I am a huge fan of all things coffee related and this 2 in one grinder and coffee maker has certainly added to my love of coffee. This maker performs equal to that of an actual coffee shop. The grider is exactly what you would expect, it smoothly grinds any type of beans into the right consistency for your designated drink. These setting can be customized from the unit itself too which reduces the chance of a mishap while brewing. The coffee maker it self seems to be a little on the small side, the reservoir could be a little bigger, not a deal breaker. The build of this maker does, however seem to be sound. The grinder, base and maker are all made in a very sturdy fashion. The rose gold handle really pops too in my kitchen. One neat thing about this maker is that it is actually somewhat quiet, other makers I have used in the past have sounded like an engine when the batch was completing, but not this one. All in all, this grinder/maker really puts the power in the users hands by allowing them to customize the experience from both the bean consistency and the creativity of the drink itself. If you love coffee and enjoy making it from scratch then I would recommend this for you!

    Stylish coffeemaker with grinder

This coffeemaker has 3 key highlights: It's style, its grinder, and the "Gold" brew standard. This coffeemaker tosses away that old office breakroom style coffeemaker for something a bit more stylish. And honestly, I like it, if nothing else just for the sake of being a fresh look. This layout also let them make a very large water reservoir. It can hold about a pot and a half of water. The grinder addition is one of the key pieces of this. Fresh ground beans will always make for better tasting coffee, but grinding yourself is sometimes a hassle. This coffeemaker takes away the hassle. Just pour the beans in, and the coffeemaker takes care of the rest. Though, you do have to choose the grind size. But, one thing I was a bit surprised by, is you can't choose the amount of beans to be ground. It automatically grinds what it thinks is the appropriate amount based on your brew settings. For a single cup, I found the amount it ground to be a little less than I'd like and resulting in slightly watery cup. For a full pot it was fine. Unfortunately, my local stores only had Starbucks beans in stock, which aren't my favorite. But I brewed them anyway, set to the Gold brew, and it really pulled the flavor from the beans and made a very bold cup of coffee. All of the Starbucks flavor was front and center. It didn't taste watery, and it didn't taste like a burnt grainy mess. Just that punch that Starbucks coffee is known for. This is a "Smart" coffeemaker, and really the coolest part of it is being able to set the schedule from your phone (which you can set per day of week). Though oddly, you can't set the clock from your phone. Also, annoyingly, you have to create a GE account and log in in order to use the app. But, it's pretty cool getting a notification on your phone that it's done brewing. When you get to your freshly brewed coffee, the display will even show how old the brew is, which is a really nice touch; though it clears if you open the brew basket to clean it. The coffee carafe is super insulated, so there is no warming plate under the pot. The coffee stays hot in the thermos-like pot, meaning you don't even have to keep the pot at the coffeemaker to keep it warm. For single-cup brewing, all you can do is put the cup under the brew basket, and unfortunately, the distance is quite far, so coffee splashes everywhere as it brews. Making it not ideal for single cup brewing (unless you like cleaning up coffee splashes). You can opt to not use the grinder, and use pre-ground coffee... just remember to turn off the grinder before you do so, otherwise if you still have beans in there.... you'll get a mixed coffee. Ask me how I know. So, there's a lot of interesting features, and overall a pretty neat coffeemaker that makes a solid brew.

This Grind and Brew Coffee maker is the second Café branded coffee maker from GE I’ve owned. This is the first one that had the grind feature. This unit, the model C7CGAAS, appears to be more sophisticated than my earlier version. Both supported Wi-Fi, so that’s the same. Oh, who needs a Wi-Fi coffee maker? Well, I do. Lol! Wi-Fi allows for a number of capabilities, like allowing you to remotely start a brew cycle without having to stand directly in front of the coffee maker. That’s handy, for sure. Let’s say that you wake up in the morning and you desperately want your morning coffee. It happens, you know Using this Grind and Brew coffee maker, ensure before going to bed that coffee beans are in the Bean Hopper and that there is ample water in the reservoir. Oh, and that there’s either a mug or the carafe positioned properly. Kick off the brew process by either programming a delayed start so that it kicks off automatically or use the SmartHQ app on your phone to start the brewing process. Aside from that, having the coffee maker connected to Wi-Fi means that the time on the unit will always be accurate. That’s incredibly important if the coffee maker has lost power at some point, possibly due to a power failure or an inadvertent unplugging from the wall outlet. As soon as power comes back on, the coffee maker will communicate with a time server on the Internet to get the correct time. It was not uncommon for me to get up in the morning only to find that my old coffee maker was flashing 12:00 over and over. Before setting up Wi-Fi to begin the pairing process, install the SmartHQ app on your phone. Once installed and an account has been created, run the app. It immediately recognizes that there is a new coffee maker nearby, and it will talk you through setting it up on your network. The app will prompt you to press and hold both the Hour and Minute buttons for about 3 seconds to initiate the Wi-Fi pairing process. It is a pretty quick process and takes maybe 2-3 minutes in total to complete. Before this coffee maker, I already had a standalone grinder for my coffee beans. It has now been relegated to a backup role. I would typically grind a week’s worth of beans and store the grounds in a cool, dark location. This GE Café coffee maker brings in a whole new dynamic where it grinds the beans just seconds before they are used. I like it! If you already have some ground coffee beans, either from your own grinding efforts or from purchasing pre-ground beans at the store, this coffee maker can accommodate it. Just pour the appropriate amount of ground beans into the filter, and then press the “Grind Off’ button. Doing so will cause the Grind and Brew to skip its normal grind process. A number of other coffee makers I’ve owned have water reservoirs built directly onto them. This unit, however, has a water reservoir that sits adjacent to the coffee maker. This allows you to lift the reservoir for easy transport to the sink to refill it with water. Fill it up, transport it back to the coffee maker and seat it back into its water reservoir base. The water reservoir can get a bit heavy when filled to its full capacity of 75oz, so make sure you have a good grip. The Water Reservoir has a Water Filter built into the bottom of the reservoir. To access it, lift the water reservoir out of its base, pour out any remaining water, and twist the Filter counterclockwise until the filter housing slides out. Replace the filter and then reverse the process of reseating the filter housing back into the reservoir. According to GE, the filter should be replaced every 2 months or so, and a heads-up alert is displayed on this unit’s control panel when that time comes around. The Grinder has numerous settings that allow you to adjust how finely the grinder grinds the coffee beans. By twisting a dial, you direct how coarse or how fine the grounds will be. I typically keep my grinder setting in the middle of the two, about a 3.2 setting - neither too coarse nor too fine. I also prefer a light-to-medium roast. This Grind and Brew coffee maker has a ton of features, making this difficult to document every one of them. I’m going to shorten it up and speak to how it performed for me. Very nicely, in fact. I don’t know how many beans the bean hopper can hold, but I started by placing enough whole beans in the hopper for 6-8 mugs worth of coffee. • I set the grinder to about 3.2, not too fine and not too coarse. • I set the single-serve switch to Mug (there’s also a Carafe option) • I placed a mug where the carafe normally sits. • I pressed the Mug button (which is on the bottom row of the Display Console) until it displayed 8oz. • I previously set the strength to Gold • I then pressed Brew. It seems like a lot of steps, but it’s not. Once you’ve done this a few times, it only takes a second to get things going. If you have a larger group to make coffee for, move the Single serve switch over to Carafe, and press the Carafe button on the Display Console to however many cups of coffee you wish to brew. After making a handful of single-serve brews for myself, I think it makes a pretty good cup of coffee. I like how versatile this unit is, and that the grinder only grinds enough beans to satisfy how much coffee you’re brewing. All-in-all, I believe this Grind and Brew Coffee Maker is a 5-star product.

This is one crazy coffee maker, it has tons of bells and whistles, from a grinder, oversized reservoir, to WiFi connectivity. The build quality feels like it should be great, but I ran into some weird problems I would t expect at a price point like this. The first unit I received had a broken part right out of the box and the replacement had a faulty gasket that caused the reservoir to leak everywhere. Luckily there are extra gaskets in the box (though none of the instructions tell you what they are for). Brewing a cup of coffee is fairly easy, just like any other pot. It does make a good tasting cup and I love being able to grind straight into the coffee maker. The delay timer works great too allowing you to se the time, number of cups and brew strength all really easily. There is also an app, though I’m not really sure what real benefits it adds. It’s a very clunky UI and it’s much easier just to control the coffee pot right at the control panel. Overall this is a really pretty coffee maker that makes a good cup of coffee, but I’m not sure there is anything that really justifies the price it asks.

The Café Grind & Brew Smart Coffee Maker makes really, really good coffee, and it does so almost effortlessly. I enjoy gourmet coffee, although I do not consider myself an enthusiast. I can enjoy the TikTok vids of people going through laborious steps to grind and brew their coffee in an espresso machine or pour-over set. I have nice coffee trinkets in my cabinet and a section of my counter devoted to an espresso maker. But I'm usually a combination of too lazy and too stressed for time to be able to take the time to make an exquisite cup. This GE Café setup takes all that effort and makes it almost a push-button affair. And the coffee tastes wonderful. Before I go over how easy this is to use, I wanted to comment on how HUGE this coffee maker is. The pictures do not do it justice, and I was a little flabbergasted at how gigantic it is when I first opened the box. I was even more amazed when I put it on my counter and saw that it barely fits under my cabinets. It is HUGE. That hugeness is not actually that big a deal if you use pre-ground coffee, as you can swing out the basket and fill it with coffee grounds and turn the grinder off. But keep that size in mind and measure your space if you are interested in this beautiful monster. Finding a home for its size aside, everything about brewing with this machine was super easy. With fresh whole bean coffee, you just scoop it into the grinder, choose your brewing size (with the included insulated carafe or "single serve" directly into a mug), and hit brew. The default "Gold" setting is wonderful. It takes about 10 minutes to brew a full pot of coffee. Cleaning the basket and re-usable filter is also quite easy, although I've found that some grounds always get into the bottom of the basket (they won't get into your coffee, but they can get shaken onto the countertop when you clean the basket). While it's not necessary to do for a great cup, you can connect the machine to your home network and use an app to fine tune some features. Notably, if you use the "Gold" setting you can't adjust most of these features. So I haven't really used the app much. Frankly, in a lot of ways this machine is almost as easy to use as a single cup coffee maker - other than the cleanup. It's on its way to earning a separate stand in my kitchen so I can use it without having to move it from under the cabinets. Highly recommended if you consider yourself a mild coffee snob without the time to truly be one.

    What I’ve always wanted

Ever since I worked in a restaurant where we had an expensive cappuccino machine that would freshly grind the espresso beans and make each cup fresh automatically, I’ve always wanted a coffee maker that would do the same. What an amazing idea for the home! I’ve used a nice name-brand coffee maker that I’m happy with at home, but the coffee is just never fresh. Yeah, when I open a new bag of coffee, usually the first batch of coffee tastes good. But after that, even though the coffee is stored in a sealed container, it just taste blah…hardly any flavor. I’m no coffee expert, but I love the fresh taste of French roast in the morning, even with a little creamer or sweetener added and it very much still have a strong coffee taste. I do own a grinder, but the work can be messy, and keeping the grinder and coffee maker out takes up too much room, plus can create a mess. Not to mention, I’m always guessing how many beans to grind based on how many cups I need to make. With this coffee maker, it takes the guess work out, and leaves no mess because there is no transfer. Every cup of coffee I’ve made tastes amazing, which is an understatement. The best features are that it stores coffee beans and water for more than 1 set of a brew, unlike most coffee makers. This means the only thing you have to do is clean out the filter and carafe (if that’s what you are using). If you drink it by the mug, then just clean out the filter. The interface and digital screen/menu is very sleek and modern looking, and is easy to use. You pick between mug and carafe, and even pick what size of each that you want. Speaking of the display and buttons, it has a real nice feature that lets you know how long until your brew is completed, and how long its been since it was brewed! There’s also an app that lets you start your coffee remotely after you connect it the coffee maker to wifi. And unlike most delays where you have the coffee grinds sitting there being aired out and waiting to be used, your beans don’t get grinded until brew time. The only thing I’m really having to get used to is that there is no warmer for the carafe, instead its insulated. I usually have 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning over a span of 2 hours and it still being very hot. I understand this is to help the quality of the coffee, but my coffee needs to be warmed up if I end up being busier and forget. The coffee does stay pretty hot for the first hour or so, and now I do have the option of just making a single mug of coffee if needed, so that’s nice. Overall, I am extremely happy with this coffee maker. The buttons are responsive, screen is easy to read, and it’s a smart system that won’t let you brew your coffee until you’ve cleaned out the filter. It makes light work in the morning, so long as you have beans and water ready to go. You also have the option of not-grinding and using your already grinded beans too. And of course the setup looks really nice in the kitchen.

This fancy coffee pot is much larger than it looks in photos. It is nearly 17 inches tall so it barely fits under my kitchen cabinets. It has many parts. The water reservoir is quite big and hold many cups of water. There is a filter for this but this seems silly since most of us have filtered water in our refrigerators. The coffee pot comes in 3 colors and is designed to match other GE Cafe appliances. I generally don’t read instructions but for this beast, I needed to check the instruction manual several times. I ran water through it to “clean” it and initially I put water into the section for grinding coffee grounds.(Don’t do this and read the manual!) There are 2 sized baskets for coffee grounds if you do not want to grind your own beans. There is a nice stainless insulated carafe but no warming plate.I thought this was OK since older style coffee pots with carafes kept the coffee hot for several hours. My coffee only stayed hot/warm for about an hour so this is not good. The taste of my first cup of coffee was very good but the second cup was not. This coffee pot is very expensive. It is a pain to clean up and I can see no advantage for paying this much money for a substandard product. Generally GE a produces great products but this one does not live up to their standards. I might use it when I have guests since then the coffee wouldn’t get cold.

We decided to try something different from our Breville. Like the ability to make hotter since this was our biggest complaint with old machine. So far after a month we are very happy. We are sorry to hear you've had these issues with your Coffee Maker. We really want you to love it. The Grind & Brew can use both Google and Amazon Voice Assistants. You can use the "On" and "Off" command to turn the unit on or Off. It is possible to turn off the grinder, not put any coffee in the machine, and “brew” small or large amounts of hot water through the standard brewing process, ending with the desired hot water. Leaking at the bottom:
If it is just water and not coffee: Make sure the water tank is placed all the way down (ask them to push down on it) to make sure it is fully seated.
If it is coffee: Make sure the carafe is properly in place and the top of the carafe is in contact with the brew basket. Note: We have some additional troubleshooting tips on our site if you'd like to check it out and continue using it. cafe_appliances
