I'm a fan of the Call of Duty Franchise, and usually find myself pre-ordering COD games. Campaign: Activision did a great job with with campaign mode-You can customize a class before each mission, choosing primary and secondary weapons, lethal and tactical equipment (semtex, flashbang, combat axe, etc.) and basic perks. The choices you make during the campaign; missions you complete successfully or fail; will change the storyline dramatically, which gives the game great replay value. The storyline switches between The Cold War (late '80s) and The Second Cold War, which takes place in the future (2025). This gives the game a great dynamic, allowing you to use guns and equipment available during the '80s and 2025 as well. Multiplayer: Multiplayer is well balanced in this installment of the COD franchise. Players are able to build a custom class with two weapons per class, perks, and equipment. Each class is limited to 10 items per class, i.e., you can equip 1 primary weapon with 2 attachments, 1 secondary weapon with 1 attachment, 3 perks, 1 lethal grenade, and 1 tactical grenade. Black Ops 2 brings a new twist to the multiplayer mode with "Wildcards". Three Wildcards can be equipped per class (each taking up 1 space out of the 10 slots given). Wildcards can allow you to equip a fourth perk, an additional lethal grenade, or a primary weapon as your second gun. Guns, equipment, and perks are unlocked with "tokens" given per level up. Black Ops 2 also offers "League Play" games, which give you access to all guns, equipment, and attachments from the get-go. League Play has limited game modes, but I find this much more enjoyable than Public Games. Some equipment is limited in League Play matches, such as under-barrel grenade launchers-so you don't have "Noob Tubers" running around throughout the levels randomly blowing you up, which some might consider aggravating. One thing about the multiplayer experience in Black Ops 2 that I have the displeasure of experiencing twice is a major bug that Activision has yet to fix. If you play online, you should try to avoid playing local matches. Playing a local match can (and most probably will) corrupt your online multiplayer data, which will reset your classes, tokens, player card unlocks, and reset your prestige. Activision does fix this issue if you submit an online form with your information-they say it should take 24 hours, but both times I've faced this issue, I received support after a week. There is one way to avoid this issue-Stay away from playing local matches on your gamertag/xbox. Overall, Black Ops 2 is a great game. Campaign mode has a great replay value, and completing challenges during campaign mode does lead to equipment unlocks to use in the campaign. I find myself playing multiplayer on Xbox Live with friends, so the persistent glitch of classes and player data being reset is a pain in the butt. Zombies mode can be fun, but it is a game mode I don't spend much time playing. I would recommend this game to friends, just with the advice that they should steer clear of local games until Activision does something about the player data reset glitch.

I was hoping this CoD would be an answer to MW3, but sadly it is far from it, maybe even a step back. The new concept of the 10 point system and the point streaks are great, but they didn't focus on the actual gameplay. The accuracy/consistency of the game is off. Blame it on lag or whatever but even in killcam's there are no hit markers while you are aimed at a target but rather a little bit to the right of the target. There are times when you could kill in three shots sometime NOT kill them with 6 shots and sometimes die without being shot. Something is very wrong there. Random/Problem/Closed lobbies. This has happened a lot for me. Having the party end randomly, or being in a lobby with your friends and then somehow being put in a game without your party. I don't know what you would blame that on except jenky development. The league play will not work. Tried for 30 minutes to get in and played one match. Again something is broken. Another issue has been the servers being down! it seems like it is always down and it is very, very frustrating to pay for a game that you cannot even play. Another weird issue is, if you have a later version you cannot join a lobby or vise versa. A small side note: if you are a Hardcore mode player, there are only FOUR(4) HC modes, TDM, S&D, FFA, and CTF. This is very disappointing to me, especially after David Vonderhaar said that they will place a bigger emphasis on HC modes than any other CoD. To give FOUR modes is a freakin joke. You still can tube in HC though it does seem like tubes have been nerfed dramatically from MW3 or maybe it's just inconsistent like bullets. Being that the game is so inconsistent, it is hard to like the game. It is very frustrating to play and would not recommend this game for it's multiplayer content. As for the campaign mode, I don't know, I played 20 minutes of it and it did not interest me much. I don't think it's enough to know if it's good or bad. I was one to hope and pray this CoD was better than the one before, but sadly it's just another CoD.

Treyarch finally releases a good COD

PROS: The maps are reminiscent of MW1 or MW2 small and medium sized maps. There are many different paths to take with places to cut through & flank. The 10 point class system is the best thing COD has done in recent memory (1 point per gun, perk, attachment, tactical. Allows multiple of one class of perk, or 3 attachments for a gun, etc.) You can also remove your secondary or primary from a class. Split screen. Party game modes like gun game, sticks and stones, one in the chamber are great. Bought the game new for 40 bucks, though it might be hard to find that price again. CONS: SPAWN SYSTEM SUCKS!: On many maps, you'll swap spawns every 30 seconds and people will frequently spawn right in front of you (sucks for them) or right behind you (sucks for you). For those who enjoy snipers, sniping sucks on most maps, and is completely worthless on hardcore. There are typically only one or two decent viewpoints, and typically you are completely visible. For S&D lovers, rushing is nerfed. With no unlimited sprint, the difference between a rushing class, and a non-rushing class is minimal. The perks also kind of suck. For instance, instead of having Cold Blooded to be hidden, you have one perk that hides you from UAV, one perk that hides from AI air support, and another perk that hides you from player targeting systems (like MMS). Another bad addition is hacker. Being able to hack a claymore is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. XP provided in S&D is pathetic (~2000 for a bad game, ~6000 for a pretty good game). This is a con because it is arguably the most difficult and skill driven game mode. I frequently find myself playing kill confirmed (12000 - 25000 XP/game) simply to level up quicker. The biggest maps aren't open and they suck. Not my thing, but I know many are upset that you can't really quickscope. The one thing I liked about MW3, which was the 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 with small maps is not in this game. Neither is infected, but this is of course replaced by Zombies. Semi-auto rifles and snipers have significant firing rate limitations. Just like in BO1 or MW3, COD continues it's killstreak (now scorestreak) obsession, including things like Dragonfire, Hunter-Killer drones, AGR, or my least favorite, Guardians, which essentially emit deadly rays of energy 20 feet in front of it. This is their version of the DoD's highly impractical, and non-lethal pain rays. Other: Not sure if it's a con, but in previous COD's, going from level one to 20 or 30 was a challenge, as you had few great guns, and few/no good perks. In this one, you pretty much start out with everything you need. This pretty much makes permanent unlocks via prestige pointless. New for 40 bucks or used for about the same, this game is definitely worth the money.

Against ever instinct in my body I bought Black Ops II on its release date. I typically like the production company that creates the Modern Warfare games, but Black Ops has its little niche in the market with Combat Training. So let me first start by saying if you are a hardcore, online rank player, this review is not for you. Although Black Ops II has come leaps and bounds with its own online services, the true rank battles will and still remain in the MMW series. Having said that, BOII is great for the recreational gamer looking to get a taste for online, but still not looking to get lit up the second they spawn by someone who eats, drinks and breathes COD online matches. Which brings me to Combat training.... Combat training was introduced in BOI, allowing an invidual or a party to fight against, or alongside bots online. The greatness of being able to deploy a killstreak (now scorestreaks) in a match without the frustration of ranked players pummeling you, made Black Ops very appealing to the recreational gamer. However, if you found this gaming exciting, the lack of game modes, challenges, etc became very apparent in BOI. Increase the difficult and the AI was not "smarter" just cheap (aka shooting at you before they even see you, or your bullets do little to no damage). The killstreaks were easy to get, but the AI would go Rambo once a care package hit the map. If dominating a map, sometimes the max care packages were only 3 per match (3 for each life, so if you're too good to die....) Little things that made BOI Combat Training pretty stale after awhile. Introduce BOII Combat training. It's like they went into every recreational gamers mind and improved the gameplay. Now all game modes are available on Combat Training, plus a non-party online option which is great for unranked matches. Killstreaks (scorestreaks) are infinitie as they have moved to the Modern Warfare point system. The care packages are now instantaneous, meaning your sentry gun is no longer going to be stolen by the fore-mentioned "Rambo" bots. The maps are fun and nuketown returns. The AI is more intelligent, but not frustrating. Overall a great experience. There are only a few minor annoyances, (bots can't climb fhrough windows without awkward movements) etc. The gun fire rate and accuracy has been improved, but still not as smoothe as MW3. The player perks require limited space, so you have to compromise your online advantages here and there. The campaign is a lot better than the "what the heck is going on" plot of BO!, and yes, zombies have returned. All in all, worth the $60 spot, but careful if you are a hardcore gamer.... but you all ready know that if you are.

I really wanted to like this game. Not because I am a Call of Duty fan, which I am not really, but because they promised this one would be "different". I purchased myself a copy and my GF's son one too. He played his and I played for a little while and I returned my unopened copy that same day. I got tired of the series when I was still playing MW2. I bought Black Ops hoping it would be different and it was just ok. I bought MW3 with high hopes of a game that i would not tire of in a few hours. I was wrong. Then Black Ops 2 was released and all the major internet review sites said. "This is the Call of Duty game that will make you into the series again and if you have never played one, this is the one!". Well I can personally say that this game did not do anything to get me back into the series or even open my game that I purchased. Let me just say this; if you were getting bored of Call of Duty before and had high hopes that this was the one that would revamp the series, look to another game for entertainment. Its that same game that is set in the future. I tried but I just couldn't like the series again.

Some will say that it sucks because it is the same game being recycled every year, with the same run and gun gameplay, and there is truth to that. However, I actually enjoy the COD type of gameplay, however, this game just sucks for many other reasons. It is the only COD since COD4 that I absolutely hate. I love the COD franchise, and am a avid player. However, Black Ops 2 left me very disappointed. I was beyond hyped and excited to play this all winter long, but I hate to admit the game is really a step in the wrong direction. The guns sound like plastic toys, and the graphics look very cartoonist and are a step backwards...again. The servers are terrible right now, but that should change over time. About 40% of the games "Lose connection to Host" because people keep rage quitting (not to mention the fairly common "servers are currently down" message...but again this should change hopefully for those who decide to keep the game). Overall the graphics are bad, and lack the "crisp" look of such titles as Modern Warfare 2. Even the first Black Ops looked better (in my humble opinion). Zombies, quite possibly what I was excited about the most is SUCH a BIG letdown! They tried to make it better....and I salute them for it but seriously they totally ruined it with what they did. I really hope that this is not the direction the game is headed, or the future will indeed be black for the franchise. Also if you do decide to get it, which I recommend you save your hard earned money, they want you to pay an extra $50-60 for bonus maps. P.S. Gameplay feels very slow, blehh.

I was excited to get this game since I have enjoyed every other COD game. But Treyarch absolutely ruined this game. The multiplayer experience ruins everything. The server is constantly going down and booting you from games. Then it won't let you join back. I know their servers may be having issues with the amount of people playing, but come on, this is not their first time around the block. They should have done a better job predicting what the server load would be. When the servers are working, the connection is terrible. Whoever is the host has the best connection and is untouchable. You put 10 bullets into his body and he turns around and shoots once and kills you. The spawns also completely jacked up. You are constantly getting shot in the back no matter where you are in the map. Someone will kill you and you will respawn either right behind them or right in front of them, just to get killed all over again. The graphics are worse than MW3, and they have more of a cartoonish feel about them. Not nearly as realistic either. I already know about a dozen people who have returned the game for Halo 4. Unless Treyarch comes out with some radical patches to the system, it is a complete waste of time and money, and will only frustrate you to no end.

OK, first of all this review is OBVIOUSLY entirely my humble HONEST opinion, you can take it with a grain of salt for all I care but, I just wanted to put my two cents in. Also this is coming from an adult gamer and not some screaming 12 year old fanboy. I have every previous COD game going back to the PS2 including the original COD and all the Modern Warfare games etc...and this is one of the more stellar editions in the series. One of the things that stands out most in my mind is the map design. The campaign is one of the most riveting stories of any other COD game to date, albeit you need to follow it very carefully because of the many twists and turns through out the game. It was awesome having the choices you made through out the main story affect the ending to this game, I wont say any more so as to not spoil it for others. Now on to the multiplayer, in my opinion this game has some of the best multiplayer maps of the whole COD/MW series. I really like the variation in elevation in some of the outdoor maps. The new perk system is also refreshing as well, combat training made a return a feature I loved in Black Ops (I get to play MP with my kids without actually being online). . Overall I am very pleased and somewhat surprised at how well this game turned out.

I am already on my 3rd prestige and if it wasnt for my friends i would have stopped playing this game. It takes 2-3 bullets on the head to get a headshot and about 4-5 on the body to expire them. However, there are some people that get a headshot with just one bullet and a body with 2 bullets. It happens to me from time to time as well but not everytime. And also i have gotten expired where he is shooting on my abs and he gets a headshot while im shooting on his head and dont get a headshot lmao. I watch every replay when i get expired and let me tell you 6/10 times i get expired is bologny. They need to fix that TODAY!. And also the respawning is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!. I get 20 kill streak and all of a sudden somebody respawns right next to me and takes me out. On top of all that, these perks dont keep you safe from the radar at all. Like i said im on my 3rd prestige and ive unlocked EVERYTHING. I hope treyarch fixes the respawns and bullet hits otherwise people will stop buying the game. Maybe even not prestige like they did not in modern warefare 3. Right now all my friends did not prestige because of this bogus and everyone is hoping that treyarch will soon fix these problems. AND ARE YOU KIDDING ME "INNAPROPRIATE LANGUAGE?" I HAD TO REVISE ALMOST ALL MY WORDS JUST BECAUSE IT WOULDNT LET ME SUBMIT WITH THE INAPPROPRIATE WORDS LMAO. WAY TO FUNNY

I guess they didn't learn their lesson from MW3. I agree with just about everyone on this review board. I find this game to be fairly easy in multiplayer, but the bad out weighs the good. The new perk system is nothing special. Personally I don't like the gun selection. Spawns are HORRIBLE!!; it seems like in every game it stops during the middle of a match " Migrating Hosts". There is a ton of lag and most of the time my signal is all the way up. Quickscoping is so screwed up, im sorry but if you buy this game just to run around with a sniper rifle you're a loser. I can keep going on and on. I haven't got into the campaign yet. Zombies are okay I guess; it's different from the other black ops zombies, but zombies is not as spectacular as they were making it out to be. I mean come on, all that hype for zombies and they give us this????? I hope this fix this game. If they don't then people are better off saving their money and buying the first Black Ops because there is not much difference, or you can buy Halo 4 which is what im probably going to do.

    The players are the problem

    Posted
    CampersruinCOD

This game was all in all one of my favorite cods yet, it still doesnt beat cod4 in my opinion. The game itself isnt bad the main problem with the game is the players. In multiplayer the main problem is the people who feel the need to camp corners and stay in the same spot all game. The lag is a small problem but it is nothing new in my opinion. Zombies was a tad bit of a let down but overall fun, tranzit however is only playable with three or four people. I have yet to play the campaign but in have yet to finish a campaign in any of the cods, its not really my cup of tea. Now ill get into the main problem with the game, the players. This is nothing new to the cod franchise, so i dont really understand why people feel the need to complain about that. The people have ruined every cod since cod4 where it was the people with red dot m16s, then in world at war it was every single person who felt the need to use the mp40, in mw2 it was everyperson who camped with noob tubes, and acr, or an ump45, black op 1 had the people who used the aug and famas which were crazy over powered, and finally in mw3 it was the pp90m01 or whatever it was and mp7 that killed that game. So the people who play the game in that way is nothing new and it will always be there because people feel good about being pro online players. Dont judge the game on the way the people play it, the game in and of itself is great its just the people in the game have to ruin it by being jerks.

I was actually quite a bit excited after skipping MW3 altogether(last cod being played seriously being black ops). After the first few games I played, I found myself being actually quite underwhelmed by this supposed "innovative" cod. I read a few reviews mentioning it expanding on its predecessors and how its the best cod yet. While this may be the "best cod yet" its still cod and after jumping right in, seasoned cod players will find out its more or less the same as the previous games. Alot of people like to complain about camping, but I won't because I don't find it a major issue in this game, not nearly as much as the spawn system anyway. It really sucks to spawn and get instantly killed, but I don't think it has anything to do with a terrible spawning system. Its more in part that the maps are very small. When you compare these map sizes to previous games, there is definitely a notable difference. I didn't really find anything about the weapons that made me go "Wow!". It was almost kind of boring to see that even though this game is set in the future. Were getting the same ole kind of guns we have always gotten. I was expecting more. Alot of people either Praise this game too highly or criticize it to badly. What I am trying to say is, don't go into this game expecting a masterpiece, but also don't assume this game is garbage and that you won't enjoy it.

Been an avid FPS for over a decade. Started with Delta Force and Joint Ops on PC. Anyway, I own all the COD games as well as the Battlefield games. This will be my last COD purchase. After so many issues in the past, you'd think they would fix them in new games right? Like the spawn issues in multiplayer. How can you spawn someone in front of multiple bad guys and don't even give spawn protection for a few seconds? Why does it sometimes take 2 shots from a snipers rifle to kill, but a single shotgun blast from 2 blacks away always kills? Why, oh why did you get rid of Vote Kicking players? Now a single person can ruin game after game cause they are young, dumb, racists, immature, whatever and the only option is for me to leave. If the server is sick of they idiot, why not be able to boot them? Same goes for rage quitters. If someone quits during a match and they are the host (you never know who is hosting BTW), everything freezes while it sets up another host. Ok, np. But many times there is an issue so if kicks everyone out and you lose the points you'd worked on. They got lazy with this one, one crate you can climb, but the SAME crate in a different area, you can't. And it happens a lot. It can be fun, but very frustrating. It feels rushed and unfinished. My biggest issues is the small maps which only helps make bad spawn creations worse

This game is a terrible multiplayer, first off it is all based on the internet connection you have; a three round burst gun is like a shotgun from far away if you are host and have the best connection. SMG's are unstoppable especially around all the close cornered maps the creators had to make this year. Snipers are unbeatable they can be used from far away and don't even have to hit you to get the kill just come close around you and can quick scope up close for a one shot kill. For as much as this game wants to be like real warfare I'd like to see someone running around with a sniper and having the advantage in close combat. The shock tactical with the bouncing betty is an automatic kill. Let's see what else is unrealistic? Well personally I like to run around in video games and not stay behind cover looking down my scope waiting for someone to walk thru it but apparently with our "perks" we have the ability to see devices thru walls yet don't have the ability to run for 15 seconds without taking a breather. All I have to say is good luck having fun playing this game especially once you finally have a good game and you get booted because the poor connection!

I should have known better. I was never a fan of black ops 1 but I really, really wanted to like this game. The best part about the whole game to me is the sound, other than that its horrible compared to MW3. The commercials were awesome, I mean come on, iron man was in a freaking jet for crying out loud!! But like I said, I really should have known better. The weapons just don't seem solid. There isn't a single gun in the first 15 levels that are decent enough to use online, and the servers or lack there of, are just horrible. Every time your playing there's a host migration. It takes a whole clip to kill someone and the graphics are really second rate. If they only made the engine a bit more robust, it be a great game to play but I can't say that it is. I waited for the midnight release, played it for 4 hours and sold it the next day to someone at work for $50 bucks. The MW series is the best from COD. Black ops is just horrible, and zombies isn't all that fun either. It could be so much better... When is MW4 coming out cause this game is not worth $10. I would really like to meet the game reviewers who gave this game 9/10 in reviews and said it was the best game in the COD series, and ask them how much money treyarch gave them to butter them up. I hate this game....

The beginning of the end for COD!

I don't even know where to begin with this atrocity of a game. I know know that the marketing of the game is the only thing that got treyarch the sales they have! This is by far the absolute worst COD ever released. The epitome of great idea, poor follow through! I've played every COD since 4, I've played pro tournament's through Gamebattles and just about any other competitive gaming website, never has one of these games made me want to never play COD again. Basically I've switched to Halo, which is an epic game btw. The lag compensation in BO2 multiplayer is atrocious, it kills the game, nearly impossible let to play. The hit detection is designed for all the little 10 year olds who have taken over an 18+ rated game, basically so all these garbage players out there who can't aim can feel like they're good while those of us who can actually aim are trying to figure out how the guy who isn't even looking at me just shot me! The campaign is just rediulous. Just pop in the first black ops and pick up from there. Took me 4 hours to beat the campaign. No joke, this is the demise of this franchise, when this franchise decides to make a game for 10 year olds and basically tells us legit players to just deal with it.. I'm out! Save your money and put it into Halo 4!

Single player was gorgeous, but terrible. Multiplayer and its arcade auto aim, & terrible hit detection has become horrendously bad. When its not respawning you right in front of the guy who just killed you, it is totally possible to lay in a corner and just pull the trigger while people run by you & rack up kills. The auto aim & hit detection will do ALL the work. I played 2 rounds doing this & went 24-4 & 26-2 with 25 headshots even though I was aiming mostly at feet. Barely moved the stick other than running to a spot. The 3rd round I quit after watching my crosshairs literally follow another player around. Play something that will take a little more skill like Halo or Battlefield 3.

I bought every single COD game since COD 4. This is by far the worst one out of all of them so far. This will be the last COD game i buy from Trearch for sure. They are still running the servers from the original black ops it seems like. My friends and I get kicked from parties when we try to join eachother, and we cant even find a game. This is definitely not worth the time or money. The campaign is good, but yet like alot of the others said, its in the 80s where it was suppose to be in the future. The spawning in this game is 10x worse than Modern Warfare 3, and the bullet damage is crazy. I can get 10 hit markers on a person when all i see is their head, but they can shoot me once and I die, from a gut shot.

After unloading a full clip of bullets and reloading then starting to fire again on my screen then i drop dead and it shows that i have never fired a shot on the kill cam.you would think that with the BILLIONS of dollars that LACKTHEVISION has made on the Lag of duty series that they could afford a dedicated server to make the game play more fun for people with fast internet. As far as the story line it just keeps getting worse and worse and worse. most people that i game with don't even play the story mode anymore. Graphics are average for a game now a days audio is average also. The online gaming is more challenging only do to the major LAG, Quick scoping(major flaw in the game for people who want to have a good time.)

This was the first COD game I played since the `original. I gave into the hype since a buddy of mine raves about it. I'm sad that i did. 1. Multiplayer: I only played team death match. it was my first time seeing the in game graphics...WOW! Very underwhelming! I couldnt belie ve in the age we're in that a game would come out with graphics like this. I digress... i only played the one mode and i lost interest immediately. I just didnt get the point. 2. Story: its ok, but it jumped around too much. not bad, but didnt keep me interested. And while its cool to see famous actors faces rendered in addition to them lending their voices, it took me out of the game. I kept seeing Merle Dixon and Candyman! Overall, i began to appreciate the hate for this series and annualized franchises in general because of this.
