first off, the campaign was terrific. i enjoyed every single minute of it, your teammates are more responsive (unlike cod 4) and the graphics are magnificent. but the campaign was too short, it took me 4 hours to complete it. now the multiplayer.....disappointing.....just as bad as the world at war multiplayer, all the guns (except submachines and snipers) are a 2 hit kill at any range with stopping power. in all honesty stopping power should'nt even be in this game since there is no juggernaut...juggernaut was stopping powers clear counterpart in the previous cods. now the killstreak rewarsds, the 11 killstreak rewards are broken....i have gotten 27 kills with a chopper gunner one time...this should never happen, you dont even need to aim with it to get kills, thats how strong it is, and it has an infinite stream of bullets. the chopper gunner should have to reload like the ac130, that would make it more balanced. however cold blooded + stingers and the chopper is down, so its not entirely unbalanced. now the attachments, the heartbeat sensor and grenade launcher attachments are what really annoy players in the gameplay. the grenade launchers do not take up the perk 1 which is wrong because when a teamfull of players are using greande launchers with danger close, you guaranteed a loss, blast shield will not help. the spawn system is awful, sometimes, the enemy will even spwn right behind you. some of the deathstreaks in this game are unnecessary --via pain killer and final stand. the main purpose of putting painkiller in this game was so experienced players will not trap you in your spawn area in domination -- cod4 is famous for this, but the maps are so diverse that there will never be a situation where your team will be spawn trapped, juggernaut, if anything should take the place of painkiller, and final stand should be replaced with last stand, players have always hated the last stand perk. they made martydom which was another problem in the previous cods, a deathstreak, which is a nice band aid to the problem. however the riot shield and snipers are awesome.

A sequel that matches its predecessor....

After the huge critical and commercial success of CoD 4: Modern Warfare, there was bound to be a sequel sooner rather than later. After Treyarch did their story the year after, Infinity Ward came back with a vengeance with another classic game. After defeating Zakhaev, his followers seized Russia, making him a martyr and committing acts of terrorism in the name of revenge against the West. The story then splits in two: the first following a US Army Ranger PFC Allen, the second following "Roach", Task Force 141 member along with "Soap" and Cpt. Price. Allen is infiltrating the ultranationalists to stop their new leader, while "Roach" and his squad infiltrate a Russian military base to retrieve an American ACS from a fallen satellite. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes, tables are turned and warfare gets modern-er when Russia stages a full-scale attack on the US east coast, and will take the military know-how and ingenuity to bring an end to the bloodshed. Coming off the heels of the first game, I was afraid that 2 years was too soon to release a follow of equal, if not superior, follow-up to a GOTY classic. This game brings a fun, if short, campaign mode, terrific visuals, sound that is amazing, tight controls and all around fun time. The multiplayer is the main reason to purchase this game, and every CoD game, really. The maps are awesome throughout, with a few classic standouts that are still amazing after 7 years since it was released. The classic modes are back, with (Of course...) Deathmatch being the best and most frantic fun to be had. The DLC is really fantastic as well with more maps and weapons to add hours of fun to your multiplayer game. The only thing I miss is WoW's Zombies. I wonder if that will ever come back...? Overall, a fantastic game that is an absolute must on any system you can get it on, even on the Wii and DS! Its that good and comes highly recommended.

As great as MW1 was, MW2 builds upon and creates a gaming experience like no other. I played MW1 regularly from the moment I purchased a PS3 in mid 2007 to the time I inserted the MW2 disc. Not a single game that I have ever played was more fun.....until now. Multiplayer action is this game is as crisp as before. Most other FPS, I found the aiming to be the biggest hurdle, but MW1 and now in MW2 the aiming feels effortlessly responsive and true. Frustration comes from poor choices, bad strategy, or just terrible luck - NOT from a poor aiming system. Single player action (so far) has been extremely enjoyable; and like each CoD game, the story is engrossing, dramatic, and at least for MW2, eerily prophetic. My only beef so far with this game is that it seems you can take a lot more hits than in MW1. This could be explained by better armor, but my character can take a huge beating before going down which detracts from the strategy of picking good positions. The sound is phenomenal and engaging and even my multiplayer experience has been very pleasant. Some of the best things about this game are the ability to customize your character to much more advanced degree than in the previous installment. Specifically, the ability to alter kill streak rewards and more accessories to weapons create a new definition to to the word "cool". However, some of the kill streak rewards, in my opinion, offer the user/team too much of an advantage. One in particular is what appears to be a hovering attack helicopter. This thing is diabolical and seems to target me relentlessly for too long a duration. With several of my teammates attacking, it was not destroying or even showed signs of wear. Eventually it left, apparently out of ammo.I have not earned this perk yet so maybe it is sour grapes, but I think the time limit for this advantage should be shortened. Last thing, multiplayer was dropping servers on the first night, but I expect this problem will correct itself in short time. I imagine this game will by a part of my gaming experience for several years.

First, this is my ps3 debut, i had own a 360 for 2 years and half now, and just november 1st i got banned (so i couldnt test the online on this one) for being the so called pirate (i diserve it) so being my 3rd xbox (2 rrod, 1 baned) i decided to swith to the legal and with the so called ps3 which i didnt like. So game talking the the game play is solid, the campaing is on of the best (so its cod4) but a little bit short, and the open end is good enogh for me so multiplayer talking, i heard a lot of complains about psn and the lag and everything and i have to tell: that coming from a xbox live i noticed that the online features is lacking of matureness like chat options party talking etc. but the game itself runs greater than i thought, adding that im in buenos aires argentina and my internet connections is like 3mbs with 256upload wich allows me 2 yellow bars in american connections, thats enough to let me in mid-top table at the score. So the regular american gamer should have at least 3 green or 4 solid green bars wich makes the 2-3 shot killpossible (i have to spend half of a mag from my m4 to kill because of the ping-latency) so i dont know what you people keep complaining about, cause if i can kill with the american connection you can double kill, so the whole opinion is that the multiplayer is really good (+it never crasshed on me) the final part sticks with the special-ops wich is kinda fun but not that much + i got really frustrated when i couldnt kill 10 juggernauts with only explosives (at least in the 360 version cause in ps3 i dint even played the campaign) so if someone knows the trick on this please pm me on X-Stargaizer (ps3) or Stargaizer (xbox live) overall about the graphics i have to add that they are pretty cool (it looks a little better on ps3 rather than the xbox both at 1080p) but they are not amazing i think the good fits well to this game greetings

The game is great and IMHO it keeps the quality of COD4. Graphics and sound are the best, perfect for a 42” screen and a 5.1 sound system. I just completed the basic story and started playing online. The game system is pretty similar to that of COD4, so you will find it familiar. I liked the story, even when it is short, but not that bad, not different from the length of COD4, about 9 hours of playing (so don’t be surprised, you won’t find a bigger game here). For me, still worth the 60 bucks. I played from the beginning in difficult (I always do that) and I defeated without too much problems. Difficulty was ok, maybe a bit easier than COD4, but if you are an expert in COD4 it is not very unlikely that you would finish the game in about 5-7 hours. Some stages are too short and left you wishing for more, like at the very beginning with the big machine gun up in the humbee, shooting enemies for about 30 seconds and then to the floor, and then you saying “that’s all? I want more!!!”. Also I found some bugs that are not serious but ruins some of the effects of the game: dogs and enemies doing stupid thinks and getting stuck (you know, going back and forward very quickly), and aiming with the sight of a sniper rifle in the side of the target and the bullet hit the guy anywhere, and the opposite, aiming to the target and bullets don’t hit him. Continuity has some flaws, like your partner is coming after you and then he is waiting for you ahead (similar finding than killzone II, but not that bad). Even so, the game is well polished and the whole experience is quite intense. I have to admit that I miss the intense battles found in killzone II, I did not find that big and intense battles here. The online is awesome, I can’t tell you too much about it because I am a pretty new player, but so far it is amazing. So, I give the game a solid 5. It deserves a buy.

I know that a lot of people have complained about the campaign mode being too short, but this game is really about the multi-player experience. I played through the campaign on several difficulty levels, and I still found it to be fresh and challenging. The scenery is amazing, the enemy AI is formidable, and the voice acting is well done in comparison to COD 4 (any scenes with the Marines were brutal to listen to in COD 4 but Semper Fi nonetheless). However, the game really comes to life in the multiplayer modes. Special Ops mode is a great excuse to sit down with a buddy and shoot up some bad guys for a few hours, and the objectives are interesting if not completely innovative. Online multiplayer is as good as I have seen it on any game I have played to date. The ranking/leveling up feature is enough to keep the most hardcore gamer occupied for quite a while if you like to have every upgrade or achievement possible. My only gripe is that I agree with others that there should be some system to discourage camping. Perhaps if a player sits idle for long enough, their XP should be reduced for every kill. I do see how this is a working strategy for some, but not all players appreciate it. The list of different playing modes is excellent, and the clan system is good, but again not innovative. Weapons are diverse and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Even the most veteran players aren't unstoppable if you pick the right combination of weapons to stop them. I do agree though that if you run and gun through the whole thing you will feel the sting of death quite often (as I do). Unless you object to violent videogames or shooters in general, this game has something for every action fan. I don't usually write reviews of videogames, so this one is quite special for me. I haven't been able to stop playing since I bought it!!

(TO SHORT) I just want to start off and say that I am surprised that not a lot of people are commenting about how short the campaign is and how the ending is very lackluster. Also, there is no real story. The story feels all over the place, not real consice and has no depth. It took me a little over 5 hours to beat the game and not rushing through it. The game feels very dumbed down and you never get overwhelmed by the enemy like the previous installment. (TO SWEET) Let's get to the positives. The BIG thing that I do like about the game is the Brutality of Enemy. They do not care about anyone or anything except completing their objectives anyway possible. Another thing that they do wonderful is get you emotionally involved with the locations that they use. I like the Multiplayer Maps and how they are laid out compared to the last Modern Warfare and the different things you can do in Customize Class. The maps make you feel that you can roam freely and open and the graphics are spot on. Completely get immersed in you surroundings. With the Customizing Class which allows you to pair two regular weapons as opposed to one regular weapon and a sidearm is a much needed improvement. (TO OVERHYPED) All in all, this is a good game but hailing it as the Best Game of the year is probably going a little over board. I feel that there wasn't enough depth or anything really new to get all of this attention/hype

I gotta say, after all the hype, I'm really disappointed. I can't believe how little mission you get for $60. I'm glad I picked up a $10 gift card when I bought this, cause after 4 whole hours from beginning to end, I gotta say I'm feeling pretty jipped. Yeah, the online play is still great (when the server isn't constantly crashing. Hopefully they'll have this fixed soon), but with so many other great shooters out there, I expected a lot more. The story is a total mess. You play as four different characters by the end, (SPOILER: all of whom die off), and the level where you play as an undercover agent / terrorist slaughtering civilians wasn't cool, fun or interesting, it was just uncomfortable. I'm guessing they thought it was going to be edgy and controversial, but it just takes the story to an ugly place when it's already confusing and really just generally uninteresting. I guess they thought this would help, but it really just torpedoed the whole game for me. There's no sense of accomplishment or victory at the end, I just felt like I'd played the first act of a confusing, unfinished game. Overall, I say save your money for Assassin's Creed next week. After the previews I've seen, with all the new ways to assassinate bad guys, interesting side missions and a great looking story involving cool inventions by Davinci, I have little doubt it's going to seriously rock the hizouse.

The campaign is too short so if you are buying this for that reason, do not. The co-op offers some gameplay but split screen can be painful. Online is mediocre to decent I am not a seasoned FPS player but I do OK. Personally I do find glitches here and there, along with the horrible lag: the main reason I give it 2 stars, else I would give it 3. Many times I am making headshots with my sniper gun yet I only manage to "wound" the guy, and this is with stopping power. I do find people snipping me without actually spending time to look through scope and get OHK from far away, that is something I have yet to learn how to do but still I don't see how head shots cannot kill enemies, at least from my side. Also, many times I will fire shotguns almost in melee range and yet I get knifed and die. Yes it has to do something with the my slow reflexes but lag plays a major role. While looking through the killcam, I don't see even a single shot fired from my gun. Overall, if the lag goes away, if weapons were a little more balanced, the game would be decent. A lot of it is hype. If you are easily frustrated, look somewhere else. You will constantly end up joining games where your team is losing....or worst straight in to a nuke strike. If you find it on sale around $30ish, it is probably worth it but nothing more than that.

Modern Warfare 2 is amazing. The campaign is absolutely phenomenal. I could play almost any level again and enjoy it whereas on CoD4 I finished the campaign and that was it. Not that thrilling. The Spec Ops mode is fun to do when you have a friend over and can offer a challenge at times. Multiplayer however, is overall a great gaming experience. It is a lot more difficult than CoD4 and it helps a person get better and find special tactics on maps. The guns are overall great. The point system is awesome. So many different ways to rank up and also enjoy the game. The maps are either amazing or bad in my opinion. But thats just my personal preference yours might be different, but the spawn system is terrible. Half of the time I see myself re-spawn when I die in a Team Deathmatch Game. Also, since I'm more of a sniper player in shooters, the snipers could be much better. The sniper rifles in a regular game do not get a kill unless the shot is to the upper chest/head, and at times that shot can be difficult. But it is still strange when one of the worlds most powerful guns(the .50 cal) does not kill to a shot to the stomach.... Overall it's a great game. I'd recommend it to any casual or hardcore gamer.

I was a big fan of COD4 and never even got to play COD WOW b/c I was still playing COD4 when WOW came out. When I heard COD MWF2 was coming out, I refrained from playing WOW to wait for MWF2. They def added features that should have been in COD4. Having the ability to join your friends game was such a must. I remember trying to coordinate w/my friends on COD4 and it was a pain! Though I'm not sure if it's an option but when you're playing w/your buddies, you end up on different sides randomly. It would be nice to keep everyone in your party on the same team. But not a big deal. But about the game, I love most of the maps except for one or two. I hope developers will provide even better maps in months to come. The additional maps that were avail for COD4 weren't so good IMO. I love pretty much everything about this game, graphics, game play, weapon selections, the perks, custom kill streaks, challenges, etc are on point. And I'm just referencing ONLINE play. I honestly haven't played a campaign on a FPS since Resistance. I've played Special Ops on MWF2 and that's pretty fun too! Best FPS I've played to date. 3 weeks in release and I have 1 day, 16 hrs of online time. SAD yes but oh SO fun!

there isn't much to say that hasn't been already said. i can just extend the great reviews that have been made for this really awesome game. when u first start, u will probably play the campaign first. the campaign very short. only 5 hours or so. but ever mission is spectacular. each mission has that one moment were u say wow. after the campaign u will probably play online. if u have played the first modern warfare's online then ur expectations are high. mw2's online exceeds ur expectations by a landslide. the rpg leveling up and attachments has been upgraded to the best length. because of this the new online is even more addicting than modern warfare 1. do urself a favor and buy this game.

This is one of my favorite games at the moment just not on the PS3. I originally have this for game on 360 and love it so much so i bought it for the PS3 due to friends having it and wanting to play with them. I was so highly dissapointed by how much the game play is different on both consoles. PS3 Onlines isnt as Gamer friendly as Xbox i knew this coming into this game what i didnt expect was how different the actual game play was playing online on this console. It lagged so much more then it did on Xbox the servers arnt as stable as 360s. The Audio is the biggest annoyance the sound is too muffled almost need an extra sound control in your tv just to make it sound better and more realistic. The Mic is Garbage on the PS3 sounds so distored and muffled cant even understand anyone talking it shows because majority of the people dont have mics, which takes a lot out of the game play especially when your playing with friends. The controls arnt as responsive either as they are on 360. Overall i regret buying this game for the PS3 anyone who really wants a console to play this game with buy the 360 and pay for the online its well worth it.

If you want to play a military shooter, go and pick up Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, or maybe Battlefield: Bad Company, but not this. This game was changed from what it once was to what it is now- which is an unrealistic and pathetic attempt at a realistic military video game. All of the guns are the same. Sniping is pointless because all of the sniper rifles usually take two shots to kill (even the .50 cal.). Every one online camps in random buildings and corners which forces you to play like they do- or else you'll win up with 2 kills and 10+ deaths. If you decide you want to play single I purchased this game, then sold it within a week. It is the biggest bust of the decade, and possibly all time. The campaign is less than five hours- and really has no depth what so ever (much like the first). Save yourself some time, money, and gray hairs. Buy something else. Games that you should buy instead of this pathetic excuse for a game: Assassin's Creed 1 (greatest hit) and 2 Uncharted 1 (greatest hit) and 2 Infamous Prototype MAG (when it releases in a few weeks) Battlefield: Bad Company SOCOM Confrontation

    Good game, improvements over MW1

As one would expect from Infinity Ward, this is an excellent game. For those who played COD:MW expect a similar product, but with a few improvements in the online version. For those new to the Call Of Duty series, this is a very realistic first-person shooter set in modern times, with modern weapons. The campaign game is somewhat short (as noted elsewhere), but it will wet your appetite for more. Before playing the online version, newer players would be well advised to play both the campaign game as well as at least part of the Special Ops series. The online game is what makes ths a game worth purchasing. Again, newer players should expect to be "schooled" early on by the old veterans, but expect your learning curve to be high, and before too long you will be blazing away like a seasoned veteran yourself. The only drawback I've noticed is the occasional lags online, as well as the few players who have discovered glitches to cheat their way into higher scores (online). Neither are common, so don't worry about them if you're still undecided about the game. All in all it is a game well worth buying.

Don't expect a 15 hour game this isn't one. I love the new online gamertag style profile for your online character. Totally worth getting this game. I love the online mode more than anything. If you've never played a COD game before get this one, it's much better than World at War and even COD4. I will expect a ton of add-on maps shortly in the PSN Store. I will buy them launch day. This is a great game, the invite method beats cod4's method. They actually got the in game XMB to do alot more work, and it's super easy to invite buddies. I like seeing where they are in Mod war2 before I invite them, if they are in a game I'll wait until they are in the main menu. I really like the way I can MUTE idiots that blast music on their mics BEFORE the game starts a deathmatch or whatever mode I'm playing. I can also see what tags they unlocked, say if someone is a sniper expert they will have a tag that proves they are. Not game of the year because the offline mode sucks, but definitely Online game of the year. ALL my psn buddies have this game, I can understand why, the online mode is freaking awesome.

So far I've only played the offline multiplayer and the co-op modes since where I'm at the internet isn't good enough for online gaming, but here's what I've noticed. I love the co-op mode especially the missions that are throwbacks to MW1 like the Chernobyl mission "All Ghillied Up" which is now a two player mission against enemy snipers and foot patrols. I really love the AI, the enemies move, seek cover and relocate according to what you do. I love the variety of weapons and the "Bling" perk, I wanted to be able to attach two mods to a weapon since I first played MW1, and the ability to customize your kill streak rewards was an unexpected bonus. The only things I found I didn't like are more of an annoyance than a game killer. Like being able to carry only one piece of equipment(i.e. frag, Semtex, claymore, etc). I like the original in that you could carry two claymores and a frag, or three frags; like I said an annoyance. Overall I love the game, I can't wait to get back to the states and play online, I know I'm going to need another tv if my family ever wants to watch anything again.

There's nothing else I can really add to this that hasn't been said ad nauseum. This game is beyond amazing. I have played "Call of Duty: World at War", "Modern Warfare", and "Modern Warfare 2". Each game was better than the preceding. Modern Warfare 2 was so action-packed and riveting from start to finish. The graphics are out of this world. I could never put this game down. No other PS3 games have kept me glued to my PS3 like the COD series. The only bad/negative part of this game, was the fact that it ended. I was almost devastated when the game ended. I couldn't believe that it. I was like, "This game has to go on... there has to be more". As others have noted, the story in this installment was shorter than others, but it's by now means a reason to pass on this game. I can not wait for "Black Ops". I feel like a kid again waiting to open his presents on Xmas morning. This will be the best $60 you'll ever spend.

Overall, if you're looking for a great FPS to keep things fresh, this is your game. I honestly don't think it is as good as previous FPS's that were released earlier this year or past years like Killzone 2 or Resistance 2, but it is still a definite buy. Truly, a definitive multiplayer experience at its core, as well as a great effort by Infinity Ward to nail down their new Spec-Ops modes which are just incredible and some pretty exhilarating missions as well. The graphics are flat out great, for the most part. The gameplay is the same as other COD games, so no changes there. Weapons are satisfying to fire, and use. Online modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, etc. are also pretty strong. If there was actually a real complaint about Modern Warfare 2, it would definitely be the campaign mode. Don't get me wrong, it has some great cinematic moments and can be fun at times, but it just feels off, as does the story itself. Visuals- 9.5/10 Gameplay- 9.1/10 Online- 9.5/10 Fun- 8.8/10 Overall- 9.1/10

The games online multiplayer is awesome and is easy to get to the match even if your a new comer like me. The controls are very smooth and are very realistic in the movements the characters make. The campaign was a little short for my taste but had a very good storyline to it. The Special Ops mode that's included adds a lot more fun for players who don't play online matches. Online you can create your own custom classes to use, (choose your own weapons both primary and secondary), adding this function adds for thousands of different combos that can give you an edge on the battlefield. Offline you can play splitscreen with up to 4 players, just incase you have some friends over to chill with you. Overall I give this game a 5/5 for both multiplayer and singleplayer, the graphics are great as the sounds are realistic. I would recommend this game to anybody who loves a good first-person shooter game or is a major Call of Duty fan.
