Before I start my review warning to those who do not have internet this game requires a one-day patch to even play the campaign which is stupid, not everybody has internet not everybody play Call of Duty for its online multiplayer, and yes it's a negative and it was the ultimate reason the review not higher, let's get started on the review I am a fan of Call of Duty I've been a fan since the original PC release and I've been a fan ever since, Call of Duty World War II I believe is the right step in the right direction the whole futuristic shooter thing was making Call of Duty lose its identity, I enjoyed the campaign it goes back to Classic Call of Duty with its Health System it adds of bit realism the graphics is beautiful the shooting is intense and I did enjoy the story of A Band of Brothers the online multiplayer returns Call of Duty back to its boots on the ground combat which in my opinion is in the right direction that is as far as it goes with the positive, the negative, a buggy server in the online multiplayer and a stupid one day patch in order for you to even play this game, Activision Sledgehammer Games I don't know what you were thinking.

This could have been a fantastic game but it reeks of being rushed too quickly for the holidays. There are countless game breaking bugs that just aren’t acceptable for a franchise as big as call of duty. Hit detection is abysmal first and formost. Not much more to say about that...Also, there seems to be a clear distinction of when the game favors you or when it favors the enemy. Let me explain. In many games it’s obvious to me that I see someone before they see me. It almost feels too easy to get the kill. Then there are games where you never even see who shot you. The inconsistency is what kills it for me. I won’t pretend to understand lag comp or it’s effect on this game but I will say this. The game appears to favor those who are lagging. Most games, the top spots are reserved for those with one or two bar connections. It becomes impossible to shoot someone who is sliding all over the map. There needs to be a minimum connection speed required to play these types of games. Campaign is alright. Nothing memorable but it was fun to play through none the less. Zombies needs more attention from the developers. Could be great but with 2 maps it falls short. Would love to see this part of the game grow. Overall I gave COD: WW2 three stars because while I hate it, I also can’t stop playing it. It’s like I’m a glutton for punishment and cod is dishing it out time and time again.

The single player campaign is an excuse to have a story. By that I mean they forgot to add gameplay in. It's all pretty graphics and cutscenes and very little gameplay. You run from one location to the next with very little sense of where you are in the world because the levels are so small. You don't feel immersed because the levels aren't large enough, and it feels more like an arena shooter broken up by cutscenes in between each section. Past Call of Duty titles were much better, especially the Infinity Ward developed ones. The AI is pretty much non-existent as well. They fall back when you overrun their position, but that's it. They don't flank you. This is a far cry from the original Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2, where the levels were of decent size, and the AI wasn't braindead. Funny how far we've "come". I know I sound like a gamer stuck in the past, but the campaign is terrible. Does MP fare any better? It's alright. Ghosts' Invasion mode and Infinite Warfare's zombies mode had me hooked, but WW2's zombie mode did not. I did enjoy my time in WW2's War mode, however. You could do a lot better than CoD: WW2 as far as shooters go.

Every year its the same thing with every Call of Duty. I decided to get this game since it decided to go back to old school and I was excited about that. It's just more of the same as the past couple of Call of Duty games. Buggy server and connection issues, always getting disconnected from party members, infinite black screen, spotty hit markers even with my PS4 hardwired to the internet. These issues aren't too bad and can eventually be fixed over time as they have done in the past but it's still annoying to see that they rushed the development of the game. My main issue is with their multiplayer maps or lack-thereof. At launch, there are only 9-10 different maps plus another 3 in War mode. So after an hour or so of playing online, it seems like you've played the same map 1 too many times. Of course the way they remedy this is with good ole DLCs. Making you pay more for what should have already been included.

I've been playing BF1 for over a year now and was really looking forward to play COD WWII. Right out of the box I had to wait and wait for the game to upgrade. After it was done, the interface had to upgrade too so had to wait a bit more. Now it upgrades/resets every time a start the game. Anyway, graphics are ok (I prefer BF1's), interface/menu selections are a bit clumsy (maybe I played BF1 too much) and action/character movement is also ok. Weapon choices when you start are pretty slim (which is common these days) and if you happen to fall in a game where players are already ranked higher... don't waste your time. I noticed that others don't and quite often I find myself in a 2 soldier squad fighting 6 on the other side. Ranked games are not well balanced either. For my first classification stage, played 2 games where it was 2x6. It also bothers me the small number of players in deathmatch. Being now used to BF1 where you play 10x10, 6x6 seems too low. I will play a bit more as I just started but I see myself going back to BF1.

I wished that call of duty would bring back the old gameplay that made the franchise so fun and poplar during the modern warfare 1 & 2 and call of duty world at war era. What we have when Activision dished out COD: WWII is a stripped down version of what call of duty world at war was. You have less guns to choose from, similar map design for almost all the maps, less customization options (a little bit understandable given the time period of the game), and the infuriating loot box/crate system that doesn't seem to make sense where it's a bunch of repeats of the same thing (emotes and weapon handles look the same). The only save and grace (if at all) is the zombies mode of the game. The zombies mode had evolved greatly since world at war and call of duty black ops one where there is now a sort of storyline for you to follow as well as the level of complexity of interacting with the environment to progress the levels. Other than this, it's still your same old call of duty. Nothing has changed.

COD WWI brings the franchise back with the boots on the ground combat and WWII era; unfortunately...it is not the best entry. The graphics and audio is great, but the main campaign is lacking anything new (too much cliche scenes done before in other games). The multiplayer is the reason everyone buys COD, but it is very buggy with server problems, inconsistent hit boxes, skill based match making score streaks-as tough they are to get-are very weak/useless, and the maps are not that great either. Sledgehammer has added a new game mode called war (something similar to battlefield 1's operations). The game had potential to be a hit, but the constant bugs and lack of advancement in the FPS genre made it a game where veteran COD gamers have abandoned the game for previous COD titles-or like myself- moved on to a more fun and polished game.

It's COD, another FPS game that really is not great and other than graphics and the addition of loot boxes, has not changed since the first Halo came out. I can only recommend playing this is your friends are into FPS games because playing with friends is the only thing that makes this game fun. But, to be fair , the game play is smooth, works as designed and can be a lot of fun to those who enjoy these games. If you have played COD before, it is exactly the same but with a different setting than the last one (they have done WWII before so it's not exactly new for them let alone the genre). While it plays smoothly, you would be better off buying last years COD which is going to be cheaper since it will still have a lot of active players.

    Difficult Game to Play

This is my first COD game and, although the graphics are great, I find this game difficult to play. Plus, there is a lot of foul language so don't play it around your kids if you don't want them to hear it. My 11-yr old son said he has watched a lot of videos online and thought he could play it based on that notion. Needless to say, he was very frustrated when he couldn't. Seriously though, I was playing this on the easiest level (recruit) and it took me over one hour just to get the first objective cleared (five bunkers). Maybe if I had been playing COD since it first came out I would be better but I haven't. I'm going to continue to play...because that is what you do...don't give up, learn, and get better.

Comparatively to its predecessors, CoD WWII is really a let down in every sense of what a CoD game has the potential to offer. The multiplayer was incredibly lackluster and so much of the game seemed to be a refresher of the type of atmosphere we had seen in CoD W@W. The Zombies, while interesting in the new take and more directed quest objectives vs. an open and easter-egg rooted experience fell incredibly short in replay ability and story intrigue. Compared to where we began, with W@W zombies and CoD BO1- this zombies edition was a total disgrace.

I think Call of Duty really needed this, away from the futuristic themes it decided to go back to it's roots. However, it stumbles. The graphics are nice and i kind of enjoyed the story however the multiplayer which is what expends longevity of the game sucks. It's been glitchy for me and the maps are static and few. I did enjoy playing "War" which is similar to Battlefields Domination mode. The zombie mode is it's only saving grace except it has too few map variety. I'm sure we'll get more later as DLC, but why should i have to pay more and wait. Get this at discount, unless you're a COD hardcore fan.

I liked Black Ops 3 a lot. But advance warfare and infinite warfare I thought were really bad. This obviously does away with the jetpacks but that doesn't mean it's a return to glory either. I am only concerned with multiplayer and that part is a mixed bag. Maps are ok but the gameplay I dare say feels pretty familiar. I like the killstreaks but the netcode is the same terrible stuff you've known for years. So all the hit detection issues of the past are still present and really starting to feel last gen. Get it on sale that's my review. Not worth full asking price but not worth playing sometime.

I enjoy studying the history of World War 2, and was somewhat excited when I heard that this Call of Duty game was cast in that time period. After playing it, it was disappointed. The campaign was a generic four hour romp, full of traditional tropes used in their previous titles (e.g. character caught in explosion and loss of hearing for a few seconds afterwards.) There's also a multiplayer component in this title, but most people already know that. If you're looking for an excellent story based around WW2, play Wolfenstein instead.

Well to start, Bestbuy was a disaster on my order still waiting for the season pass code on one order. But the game itself is choppy, and movements are worse Ive seen in a shooter in forever. Activision should go back to World at War and see how that game was for the way this game should be. All these 5 star ratings amaze me, goto amazon 2.5 at best rating. Multi player spawn killing, players skipping on screen your chasing and hit markers for headshots drove me nuts. Done with COD games for good after this waste of 100+ for boots on ground edition.

This game is, as a whole, completely underwhelming. It plays similarly to the original black-ops, and looks about exactly the same graphically. Gameplay is as expected, faulty and ridiculous, but enjoyable in some ways. The game was definitely released way before any of the features were prepared to function, and the servers crash constantly. Lag and other issues are also common (my connection is very stable and functions fine on other games). It has been improving slowly as they fix major bugs, but i would not reccommend that anyone buy it.

The single player mode is short but good. If you're getting online to play this by yourself it is a pretty good game. If you are trying to get together with friends, it can be very frustrating. Often getting errors when forming a squad, and a good likelihood that when you get the squad together and launch into an online game that you will be split up into totally different games.

i feel like they are going in the direction of online only (like destiny) i dont like that. i honestly will be done with this series if that happens remember that online only games retain no value. the multi player seems greatly improved... however it seems like everything is hidden behind some gimmick to get you to buy something not only are they trying to sell you a 30 dollar season pass... now they have loot boxes. the campaign is also not interesting to me at all

Let me start by saying this is all my own opinion. I don't know if i am outgrowing the call of duty series or if the games themselves have just ran their course. There is nothing special or exciting about this game. The hit detections are still horrible at times even with great internet speeds. I had skipped the previous two call of duty games before WW2 and now I question myself why did I go back.

After it's all said and done, WW2 will not go down as one of the greatest COD games of all time. But it was still a solid game with it's ups and downs. If you like call of duty, you'll like this game. It's a little slower that your typical Black Ops game in that it is WW2 and the guns are from WW2. Overall good game, good buy if you get it a cheap price.

Mediocre Call of Duty game that really got boring after about a month and a half. This game needs more content and honestly, they need to get rid of the microtransactions and loot boxes. These things have plagued COD games since Advanced Warfare. I love that they were willing to go back into the past, but there just needs to be more for me to recommend this game to anyone.
