    Canary triggers motion and sends false alerts for light movement through doors or windows. Also if a light times is on get false alert.

    Constant false alarms

    You won't have any real security. Instead, you'll get constant false alarms that you'll stop paying attention to. Canary is a lot of hype, with no substance I'm afraid. I supported their kickstarter, but now I'm sad that I did : @@@@@@@@

    Lots of false alerts and many false promises . For that price point it needs a lot of development. Great concept but doesn't deliver what is promised on the box or advert.

    It installed easily and works great. We do get false reports due to our placement near a window that lets in intense sunlight. The view at night is not perfect, but it is adequate.

    This is my first security device like this and overall I'm satisfied. The network configuration took two tries because the device I was using to configure the unit was on my 5 GHz network and passed that config on to the Canary. Once I changed to the standard wireless frequency and reconfigured, the remaining set-up was straightforward. Definitely captures movement in the room well. So well, in fact, that I even had one false positive where heavy cloud cover outside caused the sunlight coming into the room to change so suddenly that it saw the shadow moving through the room and caught that! I've had the device for a couple of months and that's the only false positive, so no worries there. But pretty cool that it caught that change. Alarm is loud and notifications to my phone are pretty much immediate. Really nothing bad to say about the device other than the minor initial configuration issue that was easily resolved. I may buy another one to protect more of my home and recommend this product.

    I bought my Canary as an addition to my home security system. The reason was so that when I'm away from home and the alarm goes off and the security company calls me, I can tell them positively if someone is in the house or if it was a false alarm (which I've had happen when a broom fell and slapped the floor). With Canary you just tell them to hold on while you open the Canary app and look & listen live to determine if the police need to be called. Without Canary the police would just be called out to drive by and take a look for anything suspicious but wouldn't have access to the home.

    This is easy to set up and use. I love that it notifies me of activity. We get false alarms on occasion. However this is by far the best.

    A big disappointment

    I really want to like this purchase. But for a "security system", this is nothing but a very expensive camera with a lot of defects. PRO: - Simple to set up. The setup steps is a little strange as you need to initialize the unit using a provided audible cable connect to your smart phone. - Very good camera. Excellence picture quality. CON: Almost everything else. Here are some highlights: - Price: expensive . $2xx plus is too much for what offer. - Security Holes: 1. If you simply disconnect the power to an armed canary, no siren will sound. 2. Signal False alarms: camera is sensitive to light. As the day change to night and vice versa, an armed unit would send out false alarms as motion detected. 3. You have to manually set-off the siren . This probably because the unit usually send out false alarm. - Live pictures display sometime very slow - Unreliable: Sometime the unit simply stops working and you have to go over the setup process again. - The unit is advertised as a smart system which would "learn" along the way. It did not (or may be I am not aware of its learning process !!! @@@@@@@ For example: if you tag for the false alarms, the system did not learn that and still send out the same false alarms .

    This canary security camera is great, very friendly user. I didn't have any problems setting up or connecting to my Samsung note! I have to point out that it is a little light sensitive, false detection. Overall I really like this product .

    Would not stay connected to the Internet, gave false alarms, thought I was away when I was sitting right next to it, on and on. Internet help was more of a hindrance than a help. Gave up on them also. Not a very good product, skip it. I am still looking for a recommendation.

    I've been looking at the Canary since they started their Indiegogo campaign to create the product. It's a great idea- perfect for those that don't want a full-fledged security system and are intimidated by some of the do-it-yourself options. Works as advertised- nice camera, easy to set up, arms itself and deactivates when I leave/arrive, and iOS app is easy to use. It's definitely a 1.0 version - I had some stalling of the live watch feature for a day or two but that seems to have been resolved. I seem to be getting false alarms in the morning and the evening when it might be switching from night camera to day camera. Not exactly sure why it's triggering. Fairly annoying, but not a major inconvenience. It's like buying any Apple 1.0 product- very cool, but want to see added features and improvements in the 2.0 version. Would eventually love to see an add-on product- window/door sensor. I don't want a second camera, but a sensor I can put on door and/or window to trip when opened and trigger alert on the main Canary would be great. 2-way audio would be nice. But, it's a very nice, simple system. Figure out the false alarms, and I would give 5 stars. Definitely glad I purchased it, and will be first in line for their next upgrade.

    My wife and I have been using Canary for a few weeks now. Setup was quick and easy. It arms automatically when we leave the apartment, and it's really nice to be able to open the app and see who's home. We had issues with false alarms at first, but those mostly cleared up when we moved it to the opposite side of the room. I recently learned that you can also identify false alarms in the app to help it learn over time. No intruders yet, but I did get a notification when our dog escaped the bathroom while we were gone. The video and audio quality were great even though our wifi is a bit spotty. We live in an apartment, so our options for security are limited, but Canary has been a great fit.

    Great as a door stop

    I returned mine. It simply did not work. The app would always freeze, I would get 25 false alerts a day, and it never knew whether I had left the house or not. This was worse than the alternative--having no monitoring at all. On top of all of that, the customer service from Canary was the worst I've ever experienced. Even if Canary irons out all the issues with the system itself, I don't expect them to be in business long if they can't fix their customer service. And if they go out of business, your Canary is worthless as anything other than a door stop (but it works great for that! @@@@@@@ .

    Really wanted to like this...

    I picked up my Canary early this week, and for the first day or so, it seemed to work pretty well. I had it set up in my living room to watch over things, and liked being able to check in remotely to make sure all was well. I keep my ceiling fan running pretty much all the time to keep the air moving in my house and after "tagging" the first motion event as such, the Canary appeared to have learned that my ceiling fan was acceptable movement. Now, a few short days later, the device is sending me alerts literally every 10-15 minutes (Close to 50 alerts have racked up while I've been at work today. @@@@@@@ No matter how often I tag the activity, it no longer ignores my ceiling fan. Not only that, but the video length for each of these alerts is over 5 minutes long. The frequency of these false alarms renders this thing completely useless to me. The design is great, and the extra features like air quality/temperature monitoring are cool. But it doesn't seem to be able to do the primary thing I purchased it for, which is reliably alert me if something out of the ordinary is happening inside my home.
