    Canary sings like A songbird

Received my Canary Security device 3 weeks ago. When I opened the box I was immediately impressed, Even the packaging was well thought out and classy. Set up was a breeze although I did have to change my Wi-Fi security method to a password based security, as the Canary doesn't provide is MAC address. One possible solution if you MAC address filtering as your security temporarily open your network connect the Canary and then look at your network to get the MAC address of the device. Or of course do like I did and just switch to WPA or similar Protection Al in all with the switch my canary was up and running in fewer than 10 min. Out side of a few temporary network glitches the device has been flawless in its operation. It's aesthetically pleasing and unnoticeable. Build quality is that of an "Apple" device. It has been a very "Nice to have" product giving us the ability to check on the dog, see when the kids get home and even Catch a few funny moments, including an Easter candy theft. Canary Connect seems to be on the right track with this device making software and network improvements based on user feedback. Some suggestions I would include for the software side would be; Setup and access via web browser. The iOS/Android connect is easy, just would be nice to be able to us my computer if I wanted & saving & managing video clips (I hear all of this is coming soon). Do to the temperature and humidity monitoring this device would be awesome for an instrument / studio room or collectables room or anyplace where temp/humidity could be damaging, I will be purchasing a second canary for my music studio soon. Pros: Easy Setup, Unobtrusive design, Continued progress and new features, Friendly support staff welcomes feedback, Peace of mind. Cons: You're at the mercy of your service providers, if you look electricity or Internet the canary no longer sings. Hopefully canary 2.0 comes with battery backup and internal memory storage, maybe even GPS chip. In closing I recommend this device, the price is reasonable for the quality of the product. The service is constantly improving with new features on the way. I give the device an "A" Rating.

    Great device for monitoring

We have had Canary for almost a month now, and the bottom line is that we are so far very happy with the product. For full disclosure, we mainly use it as a way to track what our young dog is doing during the day, and if he's getting himself into trouble. We used to have to put him into a crate while we are gone because he would make a mess otherwise, but now we allow him to roam in the main room, and we feel much less guilty about leaving him while going to work now. We check it multiple times a day and it works very well for our needs. The pros: We were pleasantly surprised by how easy the set up was, the high quality of the video, the relatively short lag time, and the room quality measurement features. When we got the device it took us barely 15 minutes to get it working. Its small and very portable so you can test many locations to set it up in. You can zoom into the video and get a pretty high level of detail; the camera can pick up our dog's movement 18 feet away. If you have a high speed internet, the camera is able to stream live with only a few seconds delay. We particularly like the air quality feature as it seems quite sensitive. It can pick up a spike in poor air quality right when I start cooking. The cons: Not many, just a couple of things that people should be aware of. If you have a slow internet connection this will not work nearly as seamlessly as it sometimes will not stream if the connection is bad. In addition, the air quality metric would be much more useful if it told exactly what was abnormal or not. Overall, if you are buying this to monitor your home while away, it is a great device. I have been recommending to anyone in a similar situation as us!

Love this product for my apartment, very easy to set up and very easy to install. I recommend this product to people who have small apartments/condos as this helps cover more area then it would a bigger home. Pro: This product has great sound quality and audio, and great two way talking feature, plus the added live video monitoring. Cons: it does have a very slow lag time when it comes to notifying you as well as pulling up the live web. But that's typically something that you'd expect from a security camera that's on Wi-Fi. Also the monthly fee of $10 can be a little bit much. . just to use certain things on the app to go along with the camera. All in all I give it a 4 out of 5, again I recommend this for apartments and condos only... if you're needing something for a house, this may not be the product best suited for that need.

This product and service has many features and is simple to use and setup. It looks nice and is well built. My only complaint is the lack of a web interface for live viewing and timeline review. There is a product website where adjustments can be made to features like when the camera records and alarms; however, live footage can not be viewed online. To view the camera live or view recorded clips triggered by alarm parameters, the iPhone or Android app must be used. I also own a Nest (Drop Cam) wireless security camera, and prefer to use their website to view the camera rather than the phone app. Otherwise, it's a solid purchase.

are an issue.About 2 weeks ago Amazon Web Services went down and no one could access their camera or get any alerts. Other than that if someone asked me I would just say get a Canary and you'll thank me later. The camera works fantastic, especially if you live in a home. I have 2 and I use them for security, watching the dog and babies without having to get up (Yes, Im super lazy with a puppy and a yr old baby). The options it comes with are pretty cool too. I got mine for $169 BUT I would easily pay full price for this camera. Easy to setup and after the firmware update you'll get you are off and running.

Would not stay connected to the Internet, gave false alarms, thought I was away when I was sitting right next to it, on and on. Internet help was more of a hindrance than a help. Gave up on them also. Not a very good product, skip it. I am still looking for a recommendation.

I don't have the fastest internet speeds at my house and wound up having to return the Canary because it was just too choppy and grainy of a video feed. Probably works great on better Internet service, but don't bother if you have a slower connection.

This is not only a great working tool, but it's fun too! You can look into your living room, your study, anywhere in your house at any time, no matter where you are. It's great! The down side is that when the Internet is down, it won't work. So make sure you don't have Charter. LOL!

Had lots of lagging when trying to view. Have 100mbps x 20mbps internet so that wasn't issue...just didn't seem to be the quality I was looking for based on price. Will end up going with nest camera.
