    Canary is a good security product that does not cost to be monitored. The issue I had was trying to connect wireless in another room of the house.

    I hooked up system and it didn't work. The wifi capabilities are very weak. In order for this to work you practically have to stand next to the camera.

    Reset to lesser sensitivity I'm still getting 20 or more alerts. Wifi takes it off line and I have very high speed Fios (75/75) so it's very bad on reliability. Help desk is useless.

    99 dollar paper weight. @@@@@@@@ I see why it was on sale) Maybe this thing works for some but I couldn't even get my phone to pair with it. It refused to connect to the WiFi, touching the top to pair was useless, and the yellow headphone jack method didn't work as well. Like I said, maybe it works for some but I'm just going to return it. Save a few extra bucks and save yourself the headache.

    Bought this after researching other cameras and I am 100 percent satisfied with my purchase. It's low key design helps it blend in, almost looking like a Amazon Echo. High quality audio and video. Roughly 5 second delay on my system running over wifi. The free DVR service is great plus the other packages are low cost if you need to save more video or go back farther in your time line. And there is an announcement of a add on system coming in the fall to make it a complete security unit for your whole home.

    This device stopped working after 1.5 years. No one to actually talk to at canary. They only offer email and online chat with someone in India. Was hit and miss as to weather I'd be able to look at my camera remotely and it only works with a 2.4 GHz wireless connection which is prone to interference. Also, candy pulls the ole bait and switch with a paid subscription for any video older than 24 hours. 2 way talk is only available with a paid subscription. buyer beware.

    Great security camera. Monitors home for intruders, air quality I.e. Smoke, temperatutre and humidity. There is also night vision and siren in it. The only problem is you not only must have wi-fi enabled at home but also where you are traveling. There are many places around without wi-fi so you cannot check out your home. It does send notices via cell phone. Poor documentation and or help.

    Canary blamed the WiFi for not staying connected that is why they sent us the 2nd canary. They stated that this was happening a lot. I like the idea of canary but maybe the $199.00 that was spent should not have bought this? I called support they are very nice and are American, that is a huge + for me. It turns out that you have to be sign in for canary to work properly. Some thing that isn't explained. Maybe okay now?

    My wife and I have been using Canary for a few weeks now. Setup was quick and easy. It arms automatically when we leave the apartment, and it's really nice to be able to open the app and see who's home. We had issues with false alarms at first, but those mostly cleared up when we moved it to the opposite side of the room. I recently learned that you can also identify false alarms in the app to help it learn over time. No intruders yet, but I did get a notification when our dog escaped the bathroom while we were gone. The video and audio quality were great even though our wifi is a bit spotty. We live in an apartment, so our options for security are limited, but Canary has been a great fit.

    This camera works great for capturing great video for day and night. It works well to automate the arm mode when I leave the premises with my phone. Although, it sometimes doesn't disarm when I come home. This could be something with Wi-Fi not registering fast enough for it to disarm. It also indicates "activity" when in arm mode and lightning flashes or when extreme cloud cover lowers the light in the house. This could be setting that I have yet to discover, but I'd rather have it then not at this point. I'd also prefer to have the light underneath the camera to turn off, since I don't want unsuspected intruders aware of the camera system but that is just my preference. In the meantime, I just put something in front of the light and it hides it well. I am really glad that I purchased this camera and BestBuy had the best price that I could find.

    Bought the camera used two month only, everything's fine until 10/04/2017 company changed policy. Not happy and Best Buy should stop stocking and selling this product! I am not satisfied with this product at all! There are definitely better products on the product for a similar price, or acceptable products on the market for a lower price. after several hours on WIFI the unit goes offline...therefore I have to keep it plugged into Ethernet, so I am limited as to where I can place the device. Additionally, the device is terrible at recognizing when I leave and arrive home, forcing me to be constantly manually changing between home and away mode throughout the day. Even those these 2 things made me very disappointed with the product, I still liked the fact that it provided me with security of knowing what is going on at home...until now. Canary recently updated their 'plan' so I can no longer view full videos, but only a 10 second preview of 'activity' in my home unless I buy the membership...therefore I can no longer use this device for home security because the video will not show anything without the membership. I will not be paying a $10/month membership on top of the camera I purchased for this poor device. Since I have had the camera for a few months, and since Canary will no longer give free full access to activity detected videos for 24 hours, I will no longer use this product and my Canary will become an expensive and disappointing paper weight...I will also refuse to do business with this company in the future. When I purchased this product their policy was to give full access to videos for 24 hours without a membership, now my canary is virtually useless without the membership...would like to hear back from Canary regarding this policy change as to why they can take the full videos away and I am sure many other people who currently have the product and not the membership are also very upset at Canary.

I do want to clarify that Canary users who don't opt in to Membership still have access to the core set of Canary features that includes: notifications when motion is detected (as well as customizable HomeHealth notifications for temperature, humidity, and air quality deviations), the ability to Watch Live anytime (day or night—with automatic night vision), recorded video clips that are stored for 24 hours, activity zone masking, remote siren activation, one-touch access to police/fire/EMS, automatic arming/disarming, and more. The recent changes to the amount of video recording on our free plan aligns with the cost to process and store this video. What we offer is still more than what you get with most products in this category—many of which don’t offer any video recording without a subscription.     Not happy and Best Buy should stop stocking and selling this product! I am not satisfied with this product at all! There are definitely better products on the product for a similar price, or acceptable products on the market for a lower price. My first item was defective and had to return it, and my second device still does not work very well.     not very cost-effective and lacking features

    No local storage of videos and no mounting options are a dealbreaker. There are much cheaper options out there that provide both of those. The wi-fi on it is pretty weak. It will constantly disconnect while other wi-fi devices in the same room have no problems. Wired ethernet is more solid. The audio quality on the Canary is actually pretty good. But not really useful if you're using this for pure security reasons. But back to the dealbreakers. The only viewing options are the Live View and the viewing of motion events through the Canary Cloud. Meaning it will only record video when the Canary believes there is motion or something happening. There is also no local storage options as I mentioned. I'll just say that there are wi-fi cameras out there that allow recording to a microSD card or recorder system or a computer or cloud as well for roughly half the price of the Canary. And there are no mounting options. As others have pointed out, someone can easily just walk up to the Canary and unplug it. And since the only type of recording done is through the cloud, if the internet for some reason is out, then you have no recording at all. Again, much cheaper options out there are wall-mountable. In the end, not worth it and I'll be returning mine. I think someone else wrote that the Canary is not transferrable to another person, but this did not seem to be the case. I was able to remove it from my account and reset the Canary.

    Our House Was Robbed While Canary Was Watching

    DO NOT USE THIS SECURITY SERVICE. We have a Canary and our house was robbed last week. We never got an alert, and while the Canary captured the dudes ransacking our house for over 5 minutes, it never registered that anything was amiss. We are supposed to be alerted when there is activity in the house while we're not home, but in looking into later, we discovered that Canary, due to some mysterious malfunction, never recorded us as being absent. The Device was stuck in Home Mode, even when we had left. Our phones were with us. To make matters so much worse, Canary Customer Service has been difficult to get into contact with, and they refuse to speak with us over the phone. They will only communicate with us through emails, and online chat. They believe our Wifi isn't good enough. We told them our wifi is fine, and works perfectly for all other devices, and we've a lot, my husband works from home and requires fast internet speed. They then asked us to do our own troubleshooting, and provide them with a Wifi Speed test. When we provided it, customer service told us "Well that's what it is now, but we don't know what it was when your house was robbed." !!!! What?!!! Then why did you ask us for the test? Last email we received from Customer Service says that they are passing on the complaint to the product team, and "if we could help you, we would." Yes, you could help us. You could follow through with your products promise of protection, take accountability for the major failure, step up your customer service game, and make it right with us. On top of having our house horribly ransacked, the stress of dealing with Canary has been overwhelming. Police officer recommended a few other devices, like SimpleSafe and Frontpoint. Canary was not on his list. Other Canary users we've been in contact with have reported same Home Mode malfunction.
