Good horror film starring the under rated Virginia Madsen

I first watched this movie when i was eight years old and, needless to say, I scared for a long time after watching it. I had to take all the mirrors out of my room and i wouldn't use the bathroom at night. If you want a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, Clive Barker's "Candyman" is the way to go! When a young Daniel (later called the Candayman) was asked to paint pictures of a plantation owner's young daughter, he agreed. The two became close and eventually fell in love, and the daughter became pregnant. When the plantation owner found out that a black man had caused his daughter to become pregnant, he sent a mob out to kill him. The mob caught Daniel and cut off his hand with a rusty saw, leaving nothing but a bloody stump. But they didn't stop there: they covered him with bees as they stung him to death. Now, Daniel is back, but is back as the "Candyman", a legend greatly feared in the local gang territory. Calling his name five times in the mirror brings him back, and a string of murders follows. Call his name five times, if you're brave enough.

This is one scary movie! I saw two and three first, then this one, I can safely say the sequels are immaterial to this one. Director Bernard Rose makes it very creepy with a gruesome surprise around every corner, plus the creepy music only adds to the atmosphere. Virginia Madsen plays Helen, a woman who's husband teaches urban mythology at a local university in Cabrini Green, she doesn't believe in monsters...at first. She calls his name five times as the legend says to disprove he's real. That's her first mistake, because he does appear, destroying her life in the process. I'm glad I didn't see this in theatres, I would've been terrified, it still freaks me out now, even though I own it.

This is my favorite movie. I just watched it a couple of months ago and wow, I still think about it every day. I can't put into words how fantastic Candyman is. Every scene was awesome for every reason. The plot is even better than it sounds, same goes for the movie. Not what I expected. That's a good thing.

I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and my parents told me it would give me nightmares; well it did just that and more. I was so scared to use the restroom and look into the mirror. Great movie even when time is passing I think that it’s a movie you can go back to and feel fear.

This is a really good horror film from the 90's.It seems everyone knows the legend of candyman.You turn off the lights and look in the mirror and say his name five times he shows up with a hook for a hand and either kills you or cuts you depending on if you believe in him or not. So try it if you dare. Bloody Mary works just as well. HA HA HA. Happy Halloween Slimdwiz

Tony Todd is brilliant as Candyman. Just never say his name three times. Well you can say Tony Todd 3 times, that is ok. This movie is very spooky, gory good time.
