    Yes, it is necessary for the printer to work, but the gray really makes a difference in a picture.

    Canon is the only one I know with gray ink. You can't buy it in multi packs. It works great though.

    I'll be honest, my printer uses this cartridge & Best Buy had it in stock, but I wish the cartridge was larger. You know, more bang for the buck.

    I know there are ink refill kits out there, but I prefer genuine Canon ink for my Pixma printer.

    The canon ink cartridges are high quality as compared to other printers. My only regret is you have to purchase them as a single cartridge.
