I did a ton of research on this lens then figured I had to try it myself. Don't bother getting the L, this is just as sharp and as fast. I bought this lens and couldn't be happier. the macro feature is really nice however I mostly got it for portraits and it does exactly what I needed. The AF is lightning fast and super quiet. only problem is that when you've focused on something in the macro range, then immediately after that try to focus on something far away, it won't AF, you have to kinda manually spin the ring until you get close then AF will snap it in place. I believe this is pretty standard of a lens of this type. Just something to note so other future buyers don't think theirs is broken.

Great lens for youtube! cant go wrong with Cannon and price rate will stay around the same all year long.

I used this for food photography, it gives amazing image quality.

You will not get wrong, I have took picture of small animal, like ladybug and you can see any detail, also good for flowers and for human details that it's hard to catch with a 18-135mm like eyes

I photograph bees so the focus has to be quick. Does the job and does it well.
