As an airline pilot/photog weight is important...So I have been looking for a great wide angle to use since I have switched to full frame. 5DM3. On my 50D crop sensor I used Cannon 10-22 and just enjoyed that lens like no other. the 16-35 f2.8 ii is just that replacement and some. Vivid colors amazing clarity and better yet, extremely light weight. I have been using my Cannon 24-70 for a long time and the weight of v1 compared to this 16-35 is jaw dropping. Now my travel bag consists of 16-35 f2.8/40mm 2.8/70-200 F/4 is/100-400 4.5 is II/ and I'll leave the 24-70 at home for the wedding shoots...:-) I'm complete for now.

I am not a pro, shoot a few things on the side and recently sold all my junk laying around I have not used in years to clean my camera bag out and restock with L-Glass.
What a difference! If you are a serious shooter, save your money for L-Glass, you cannot go wrong. This baby is sharp and the color and contrast is really nice, focus is super fast.
I am using this on a 1.6 sensor so it is not as wide as my 10-22 on this body but I plan on upgrading to full frame soon, don't tell my fiance!
Read the reviews, it's a great lens

Canon crafted another fantastic lens. It's expensive but delivers professional quality. Simply put, it's worth the investment. I'm grateful that Best Buy offers such a wide selection of L-series lenses.

Love this wide angle lens glad I saved my money instead of just buying the 17-40L at f4.0 and went with this 2.8 wide L lens just an awesome lens.
now to find a haze filter that is slim and not 400.00 dollars but protects my investment. It also completes my lineup was missing the wide angle shots but now with the 85Lmk2 for portraits and the 70-200mk2 for everything else I am in Bokeh heaven. Another thing I like is the way they hold their value unlike the camera body which seems to loose money at an alarming rate in one year my 5d2 lost 1000.00 just becuase the 5d3 came out lol. This lens won't loose but 100.00 if that in 2 years ..anyhoot buy one you won't be disappointed just happy at the shots it delivers on your FF camera.

Needed a wide angle lens. This fit the bill perfectly. It does have some slight vignetting at the wide end but for me that's an aesthetic I like. Only had it for a month or so so can't really talk about durability but it handles and feels as well built as many of my other exceptional canon lenses.

If you know photography slightly past the amateur, the Canon L series lenses are phenomenal. This super wide opens up well for low light and the images you can pull off are amazing. There is so much potential in wide angle lenses, from excellent depth of field to really unique distorted shots. Best Buy offers it at a great price! A+

I bought this lens specifically for real estate photography. It's absolutely perfect for what I need and I would highly recommend it. The f/2.8 is great to have and worth the extra $500 over the f/4.

I've owned this lens for almost 10 years and have never been happy with the sharpness for high resolution photos. I only use it now for low resolution social media shots when I'm in the field. Very disappointed with this lens, paid a lot for it, would not recommend it to anyone for high resolution shots especially if people are the main subjects. Maybe the new version III is better, but at a stiff price of $2,199.00 and no IS.
