It’s an excellent lens, not too bulky and it’s awesome for wedding photography as well landscaping. It’s my to go lens for everything that I need to shoot either outdoors and indoors. Would recommend it.

This lens is expensive but we’ll worth it due to the distance coverage. Prefer it over my 25-70 f28. Made a perfect buy right before my euro trip

I shoot weddings and other large social events, as well as child and family portraiture. This zoom range and the constant f2.8 aperture serve me well in this kind of shooting.
This is a superb lens, the sharpest ultra-wide angle zoom I've ever used. I use it almost exclusively at f2.8 when photographing people at events and I have no problems with the significant light fall-off off-center. There are very cool looking 18 point stars when it's used at around f11, which gives rooms shots a little extra punch if you plan them accordingly.
You don't use this lens for its out of focus blur, but I love getting close to subjects and have found the bokeh rendering to be a very pleasant surprise when I do.
It's an expensive piece of glass, but for me it will pay for itself over time and meanwhile it's a business write-off. The significant cost of this lens will probably dissuade many people from buying it, but whoever takes the plunge will be rewarded with beautiful rendering and rock-solid performance.
I actually owned Canon f4 version of this zoom lens. That one comes with IS and is also truly excellent. I lost that lens in an accident and would have been happy to buy another if the f2.8 version hadn't been upgraded to this beauty.
For anyone shooting mostly landscapes, the f4 version is amazing, probably indistinguishable from the f2.8 version when both are stopped down between f5.6 and f11. And the f4 version is much lighter, too. Users of Canon's 24-70 f2.8mk2 will be surprised to discover that this lens is actually longer and heavier than that one. No complaints here, it's built like a tank and I love it.
You can't go wrong. It's a great time to be in the market for wide angle lenses from Canon. I covet the remarkable 11-24, but wouldn't dare use that lens at events because it can't be protected.
I heartily recommend this lens. And Best Buy's protection plan is actually one of the real-world best I've ever experienced. Wouldn't buy any equipment like this from them without the Geek Squad protection. What I wasn't thrilled about was (1) Best Buy doesn't have this lens in stock in any of its stores and (2) the lens was shipped in a bubble wrap bag with no protection other than Canon's packaging. I was lucky, the lens arrived intact and has been a stellar performer. But Best Buy should put this lens in a hard cardboard box and surround it with cushioning.

Bought it for a trip to Caprock Canyon in Texas. The 16 mm wide-angle is great for landscape shots and the f/2.8 is bright enough for good shots of the Milky Way. Zooming between 16 and 35 mm does not expand the body of the lens. The lens diameter is 82 mm so if you use filters, you might need to buy new ones.

I’ve used this lens primarily for real estate photography, but have also done astrophotography too. It’s sharp, it’s got great color, and it’s worth every penny. If I weren’t using it for other things though, I’d consider the f4 for real estate. $1000 less and it’s stabilized.

After using the lens for live concert photography I'm in love! I tried the previous generation and was let down. But this 3rd generation is truly much better than the 2nd generation. I read the complaints about not having built in IS. Yes, I get it but I personally don't need IS for what I do... and also read the complaints about the price. It's not cheap, but it is a Canon L lens at 2.8! It take beautiful wide shots and has amazing star bursts when wide open at 2.8! If you want a wide zoom this is your go to lens for Canon. If you doubt it then by all means go rent it first. But don't say I didn't warn you when you decide to keep it.

I love this lens. I had been recommended it by several people but held off because of the price. Finally shelled it out to be able to get that wife focal length. I am not disappointed at all. I love the pictures I am taking with this lens. It hasn’t left my camera in the two weeks since I’ve owned it. Sharp, colorful, fast. This is a fantastic lens.

This lens was great to use on my trip. It helped me to take wide angle pictures and capture the scenery on my travels. I collected a lot of amazing photos from my trip and I enjoyed experimenting on depth of field aperture and shutter speed with this lens attached to my camera. The experience of ordering was simple and the lens came quickly in a secure package with a great padded travel case.

Well worth the money to invest in Canon L glass with its superb sharp details in every shot, spectacular sunburst rays with sharp points, & more!
So convenient to have a good wide angle lens with focal length range from 16-35mm & being able to set your Aperture to f/2.8 on this lens, you can shoot in any type of scenery. Great for astro photography, landscape, interior, & more.

I bought this lens to replace a Canon 16-35 2.8 version II and to accompany my 24-70 2.8 II. The version III images are quite a bit sharper than the version II images (especially on the edges) and they have excellent color and contrast. I have a difficult time telling the difference between shots taken with the 24-70 2.8 II and the 16-35 2.8 III which is what I was hoping for. Excellent upgrade over version II...

I needed a new lens for my real estate photography. After looking over several options I decided to go with this lens because of the fast constant f2.8 aperature and the overall sharpness from center to edge. I am extremely satisfied! Another great lens from Canon!
