I needed a lens for wide angle landscape shots. All outdoor with mostly bright sun so the speed of the lens wasn't much of an issue. Very pleased with the results.

I’ve used this lens for roughly 6 months now, and it’s definitely my favorite lens right now. It even beats out my 24-105, which is a very close second. I’d recommend this lens for landscape photographers and anyone who needs a wide angle. 17mm is nice.

I had beed using the kit lenses for about a year. Finally purchased this luxury class wide angle lens. Stopped at the pacifica pier. My first shots were the best ive taken. Great clarity and color with the added polarizing lens. This lens cost more than my entire kit but worth the investment.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my Canon lenses to the L series. This is my 1st L lens and it's been working great so far.

Lightweight and comfortable to carry around. Wide angle without the weight and price of 2.8 lenses. Has been on camera since purchase. Definitely recommend!

I bought this lens specifically for taking real estate pics, but I use it for everything. Easy to use, great images and rugged! You should buy this lens and you won't have to carry a bunch of other lens' with you everywhere.

"L" lenses are not magic, so if you are expecting extraordinary image quality from this lens then you will be disappointed. On APS-C, the image quality of this lens is not significantly better than the modern kit lens in my opinion. However, this lens is built like a brick outhouse. The weather sealing and the build quality are my reasons for buying this lens, and I am not disappointed. The materials and feel are exactly what you would expect from the L series lenses. If you know what you're buying, and are okay with the price, then you will not be disappointed. If you are buying this solely because of the red ring, then I would definitely not recommend it, as there are many better options out there.

I wanted to finally get away from my kit lenses and dabble in a good quality lens that would be dynamic as well as affordable. You get both in this lens, which I might add is affordable considering its an L Series (professional grade lens)!

for starters This is a great lens, solid, sharp, and light to carry around with you, I use it for landscapes and city shots at night and for this i use a tripod so the lack of IS is not a big deal plus sub 1K always will will in my book. If you have something covering the 28-153mm then you will enjoy this addition to your group.

I needed a wide-angle lens, and quickly, for a video shoot I was doing with my Canon. I walked into my local Best Buy and found this lens, exactly what I needed. It's really like any other Canon lens - you know you're going to get the quality you need. The only missing feature is image stabilization, but for the shoots I do, that doesn't matter. Highly recommend this lens.

I bought this as my wide angle lens for architecture. It is a great lens and produces good image quality. Like most wide angles, there will be warping so be prepared. However, this can be corrected post production. Great image quality otherwise. I recommend this lens.

I borrowed the same lense from my friend and and was so happy with the result, finally i got enough money to buy it myself, the build of the lense is so simple and handy (almost similar to 10-22 mm) with $600 you get really good quality pics (depend on camera you use) and so far i’m really happy with it

I purchased this lens for a recent trip to China and it worked great! Just what I expect from a L series lens. I love way that the zoom is set up where it doesn't extend out. I only wish this lens had IS!!
