    Great in lowlight and low depth of field, this lens is useful in many situations. Only downside is the heavy vignette when using wide open f/stops... only noticeable when taking pictures against a minimalist background.

    I have several Canon zooms (16-35mm f/4L, 24-70mm f/2.8L II and 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II), but have been wanting to add a 50mm prime to my collection. After much research I decided to pull the trigger and purchased the Canon 50mm f/1.2L and now I regret waiting so long. Once you understand the capabilities of this lens you don’t want to take it off your camera. Yes it does take some practice, but that’s part of the fun. Pricey yes, but worth the investment.

    I was trying to choose between this lens and the 85mm 1.2. I got the 85 and loved it but it was very heavy. I ended up returning it and got this lens. No this lens is not as sharp, yes it has chromatic aberration, BUT! This lens just has a certain magic to it. I love the pictures I get out of this lens.
