Customers praise the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for its exceptional image quality and beautiful bokeh, with many also highlighting its impressively fast focusing capabilities. However, some users find the lens to be heavy and expensive. The size of the lens is also a point of concern for a few customers.

This lens is a beast. It is heavy to carry around but it is worth it. As soon as I bought it I used it on a paid shoot. The footage I got was amazing. Better than I expected. The image stabilization was better than expected. There are two versions of this lens. This one and the f/4.0 version. If you have the budget, please get this one.

This lens is fast and quiet. It balances well in my hand. Yes, it might be a little heavy for some people, but almost any lens in this category will be of similar weight.
The range is wonderful, from 70 to 200. Very much a general purpose lens.
I believe it will eventually be my favorite lens, but right now I am still getting familiar with all it can do.

This lens is amazing! It is tack sharp, even when shooting wide open. It has a nice creamy bokeh, great for making your subjects pop from the background. The only complaint I have is this lens is quite heavy.

This IS the best, plain and simple. I'm getting used to the heavy weight, that's the only drawback in my opinion. Focus speed and quality are both top notch, quite and smooth, it's difficult to take a bad photo with this lens. Yes it's higher priced than most but you get what you pay for.

After almost 3 months for constantly admiring this babe, I finally decided to purchase it. I used my Best Buy credit to purchase it, so 18 months no interest. I've used it to shoot some weddings and it's super fast. I've also used it for some headshots and boy the bokeh around is amazing. Great image quality

Great zoom lens. Solid, high quality, doesn't feel cheap because you would have paid a lot of money for it. You could get a similar 70-200 lens by Tamron with similar picture quality for 1/2 the price. Best bet is to rent both lenses try them out before deciding. Personally I do not regret my purchase.

Read lots of reviews....spoke to numerous other camera buddies about this lens....paired with the EOS 5D Mark III I also purchased, makes for a phenomenal combo! I worried about the WEIGHT issue and at first I was like, WHOAH! HEAVY! But it is true...the performance out"weighs" that issue. I am so used to it now. I splurged and went with the IS...I figured if I was going to get the big gun...go for it. And I did. And I am very pleased.

Great Build, Quality and Performance

I purchased this lens for my Canon EOS 70D as the kit lens I was using to shoot indoor sports just wasn't cutting it. With the kit lens, I was getting too much noise in the photos no matter how I set my exposure level and ISO. The kit lens also didn't have a fixed aperture.
I chose to spend the extra monies to have the Image Stabilization with this 70-200 and so happy I did. Sure, I cried once when I had to spend the extra, but the rewards in the photo quality have been well worth it.
I mainly use the lens for sports both indoors and outdoors and I am very happy with the build quality, image quality and performance.
