It's light weight and love the pictures.. it's my first L lens.

Needs a lot of light, bright day or bright flash. Wonderful on a sunny day - overcast day, where my smaller lens worked well - this lens needs more light or results are dark photo. Don't get me wrong - a wonderful lens, just need to supply a quality light source.

this is a great L series lens. Definitely worth the price. Though it doesn't have the IS it still works great during the day and in darker conditions, as long as you aren't shooting at 200mm and below 1/250 it works great.

This lens is a very good lens for those who are looking to shoot outdoor events such as sports and concerts/festivals.

Took this lens to Jacksonville zoo a few days after getting it. Got some amazing shots there that I might not have gotten without. It’s my go to lens for outside

A little to slow for what I needed it for so I sold it and upgraded to the Mark II 2.8. I will work well with some fast shooting outdoors with plenty of light but I was shooting indoor hockey and needed to upgrade. I hoped the other wold work but it didn't work well enough.

Not having any IS isn't a big deal as long as you shoot faster than 1/125th. Loving the clarity and speed of this lens

The lens is great definitely worth it. No need to buy the 2000 dollars version of it just for IS. Used in a various occasions already and I love it

Not as good as the 70-200 2.8 L but it shouldn't be at almost 1/4 the price. Still better than all the non L tele zooms!

Let me start by saying I take photos mainly of my daughters dance events and got this lense to get telephoto pictures when I'm in the audience. I use it on my canon 80d along with a canon 85mm prime. The fact that this is part of canons professional series did play a role on my purchase. There was a $150 rebate directly from canon if u bought 2 canon lenses on the same receipt, making the price of this lense on par with the non L series.

Sharper than 75-300, this lens is a cheap excellent workhorse for sports! If is'n quality or fast enough you can go for one of 2.8 version.

This lens is hands down my favorite. I use it for sports photography, portraits, and taking pictures of the kids running around in the yard. Using it has taken my photography from “nice picture” to “wow”. It gives an incredible creamy background and the subjects just pop.
