Customers enjoy the excellent image quality and versatile zoom capabilities of the EF 70–300mm f/4–5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens. Many appreciate its compact size, convenient for travel and everyday use. However, some find the lens to be somewhat heavy, impacting portability for extended periods. The lens's performance is generally considered excellent, despite this drawback.

So this is what a white Canon lens feels like...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."Oh wow, that IS heavy!" I think those were my first words when I held this hunk of metal at my Best Buy. Seems like nowadays everything is made out of plastic, even things that really would be better off in a metal casing, like cell phones! (hint hint) Feeling good in weight it got me intrigued, I had had the $200~ Canon 75-300mm before and was not too impressed. The pictures that lens produced were good enough for someone who had had a Rebel T3 but at this point I'm looking more towards the future and I had my chance to give this thing a chance, and if I were being rational, I'd say no, I don't need this, but what do we need? All philosophy aside, this is obviously an expensive piece of glass, but the pictures it's producing for even myself, a serious, yet amateur photographer, are stunning. I'm amazed at what a little bit of research and tinkering can net me now! I bought this along with the Canon 7D Mark II and I couldn't be happier about that overall purchase. This was a very exciting evening for me, opening up the boxes for these items and this lens has not been put aside much at all! Even though the F stop on this is 4-5.6, it really is more than good enough! It compliments my Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 very well! While I really wanted the Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L II IS USM, I simply couldn't afford that nor necessarily justify such an increase in price, especially considering the shorter focal range. While I understand the benefits of the bigger constant F stop, I really want to do more things that I feel will benefit more from the farther reach this lens will provide. Like I said, the pictures this lens produces are great, it feels very well built, and not to mention, it's actually quite SMALL when it is fully retracted! It's less than half an inch longer than my Sigma in this state, which is impressive! Red rings are nice.

For enthusiast and professionals.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially rented this lens and after just a couple of days decided to purchase it. The quality of the pictures are magazine like. I do not regret buying this lens at all. Great walking around/ wildlife lens. I just wish it was a little cheaper, but I have never gotten a picture with this quality out of my kit lens.

My Travel Telephoto Lens
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the EF 100-400 L2 lens, which is a great lens, but I wanted a somewhat smaller & lighter lens for international travel. I will mostly use this lens on a 5D IV body for travel to Europe, etc. where a telephoto lens is more of a nice-to-have lens vs. a must-have lens. The 70-300L lens is sharp and quick to focus, definitely a step up from the 70-300 non-L lens. While not a small or light lens, the 70-300L lens is approximately 2" shorter and 1.3 lbs. lighter than the 100-400 lens. I intend to mostly use hand-held.

Great pictures
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great pictures for sports. I found it extremely useful for getting a picture portrait (95mm), and telephoto zoom pictures (300mm). It's the 'all around' lens I've always wanted in my bag.

Wowzah!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first professional lens, super happy with the purchase. I did a lot of reading of reviews before plopping down $$$$ and it is the image stabilizer, lens size/weight, and metal made, is what pushed to the final decision to purchase. The lens is short and stout so when walking around town or in the woods, it does not get in the way. This lens also delivers sharpness and details on every image taken! A GREAT lens with high quality!

Excellent "L" Lens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's expensive, heavy and, if you're reading this review, you're probably familiar with all of those adjectives. In the interest of brevity, I've included two images cropped from RAW files and converted to JPEG to fit here; judge for yourself. Shot hand held on a crop body 80D. Camera bodies may come and go but this lens is a keeper. Superlative glass worth every penny.

Very good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L is a very good lens. The building quality is excellent and the auto focus is silent and fast. The 300 mm range is very useful when taking pictures of wildlife and unsuspecting people in their most candid and natural faces. Its a little heavy but the results worth the extra weight. The lens variable aperture of 4 to 5.6 it is not ideal for low light conditions. Finally, being dust and weather sealed is priceless. I will recomend it to anyone.

Canon Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I highly recommend this lens to anybody looking for a "white lens". But do not know which to choose, A.K.A. ME. I love this, it equips my 7DMII very well, and the pictures with this thing are amazing. The only flaw is the F/5.6. Maybe to others, but for me it does not bother me. I love it, and it all matters about what the peers think of the images you are producing, and in my opinion that is only something the photographer notices. This is my second lens, and probably last. I am that satisfied with it, and recommend it to anybody.

Great lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had looked at a lot of reviews before finally deciding to purchase this lens. In general they mostly said the same, that the lens was excellent but heavy. Generally I would agree. Although I have only used the lens a couple of times so far, the results have been impressive, clear sharp pictures. Yes, the lens is relatively heavy, especially when comparing to less expensive lenses but in my opinion the extra weight is worth putting up with for the higher quality of the pictures. I would certainly recommend it, just be prepared to adjust your technique to compensate for the additional weight

Very good telephoto zoom lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens offers additional reach over the Canon 70-200mm family of lenses, with some trade-offs. Overall the image quality is very good to excellent, coming close to but not matching the top end 70-200 lenses. The AF is very fast and accurate, one of the hallmarks of Canon's long lenses, and the IS helps capture sharp pictures handheld at surprisingly low shutter speeds.

Amazing lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens is definitely worth the money. We purchased the less expensive Canon 70-300 lens which is $599 to compare. There truly is no comparison. The clarity alone is worth the extra money.

Excellent image quality, compact size
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent image quality in a compact size. Image stabilization works very well. The downside is the F stop of 4-5.6 and the weight if you plan to carry it all day when traveling.
