Outstanding lens for portraits! I’ve used it at a couple of events and so far so good.

Excellent cheap portrait lens from canon. Hangs with the best of them. Boleyn may not be as creamy. Hey it's widest f1.8 is still center sharp. If you can't afford the big brother get this little guy here. It still gets the job done.

Nerd Alert* When stopped down to F1.8 there is a noticeable amount of aromatic aberrations of purple and green fringing. But for the price and the focal length this is a pretty awesome lens. Buy it if you want it!
