Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the image quality, bokeh, and price of the EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Medium Telephoto Lens, frequently praising its sharpness and performance in low light. Positive feedback also highlights its ease of use and the suitability of its focal length for portraits. While some users noted chromatic aberration and occasional focus issues, these concerns were less prevalent than the positive reviews.

I can take great shots with this lens! I do have to stand farther back from my subject than I had anticipated. I’ll be getting the 55mm prime lens next. Overall great quality.

The Canon EF 85mm gives you the best shallow depth of field with a professional finish. Also it's very fast in focus. It's an awesome lens. I love it.

Great lens for a film body, EF mount digital or adapted on a new R-series camera. No stabilization though, if that matters to you.

If you're looking to have a fun lens to have with the right amount of bokeh, this is the lens for you. It makes for a perfect portraiture lens and with its low aperture, great for low light.

I’m growing to hate it- I have had major focus issues with this lens. It’s reliability is very unpredictable. I’ve calibrated several times with no luck. When it cooperates the portraits are amazing, but most of the time, it it’s terrible. I find I have to shoot twice as many shots because every other one will be out of focus. I end up ditching it for my Sigma 35 or my 50.
