Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the image quality, bokeh, and price of the EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Medium Telephoto Lens, frequently praising its sharpness and performance in low light. Positive feedback also highlights its ease of use and the suitability of its focal length for portraits. While some users noted chromatic aberration and occasional focus issues, these concerns were less prevalent than the positive reviews.

Bought this to go along with my 50mm 1.4, which I love. But this is so much faster and the pictures are sharp with a great bokeh. Can't wait to use it more. Got it for a great price through BB compared to other sites.

You get a very nice blurred effect, extremely sharp and very good in low light. Only issue is this you have to get far to get a wider picture.

My only regret is that I didn’t buy this glass sooner. Shoots sharp as a tack and the bokeh is immaculate even at f/4.5.

awesome lens for its price, very good for portrait and still subjects. the only problem is the lens was not equipped with IS, not for situation with a lot of movements you better use flash. not bad overall.

You're maybe wondering if you should just be cheap and buy the 50mm f1.8 instead of splurging on this 85mm that's not any faster. And if im being 100% I say yes. I also say just buy them both, they each have their place, but this is one of the most useful lenses in the inexpensive canon lines. Wow, you might not want to take this off your camera. Sharp as all get up and well built. I still use this on a convertor with my Sony mirrorless so lets get real.

Another awesome lens by Canon that makes photoshoots easy. The downsides are the high price tag and having to stand further from the subject being photographed. But if you can afford it, and don't mind the distance, go for it, you will enjoy its quality.
