I have a 50mm so I was not sure about adding this as my next lens but am quite pleased with my purchase. Still a beginner and it definitely improved my shots. Excellent lens for the price!

Great portrait lens if you are wanting something that gives you good blur in the background and price is reasonable.

This baby is a beauty. You have to do a little leg work (literally) if you're shooting multiple subjects at the same time but its nowhere near being a deal breaker! Every photographer should have this bad boy in their arsenal.

This lens is amazing. I was long overdue for a portrait lens. I’m an amateur photographer and used this lens for an outdoor wedding. The Clarity of the photos taken with my Canon 7D are nothing short of outstanding.

This lens is quite good. I should say REALLY good. The sharpness and image quality is amazing...especially for its price. I own this and a 50mm 1.8 and I've found that this lens is becoming my go-to, especially for portraits.

This lens is very fast focusing and shoots well in low light. With the 1.8 setting you get a very shallow depth of field which is amazing for portraits. I've played around with some close up shots as well and have had excellent results.

This is a great and fast portrait lens. I wasn't sure if I would need it, as I already have the 24-105 f4L IS USM and 70-200 f4L IS USM, but after reading the reviews and reasonable price I thought it would be worth the shot.

I’m a semi-professional photographer, doing headshots and portraits for local musicians/seniors. This is my go to lens and performs extremely well. A must have if you’re doing any portraits.

I typically don't use prime lens but I love this lens. Its a great low light lens for inside gyms for basketball games. I also like the dramatic depth of field that I can achieve with this lens.

I did extensive research on canon lenses before making this purchase, goal was to find a great 2.8 prime or better lens at a reseasonable price without breaking the bank, this was it, takes great portraits

Looked at many options for a reasonable price for a hobbyist and this was a good choice for my budget. A little heavier than I anticipated for its size. The quality of pics even on my T2i is amazing.

If you don't have the cash for the expensive prime "L" lenses, then this is a must have for 85mm. It takes perfect portraits. On a crop sensor, it is a tight shot for most indoor locations though.
