Even though this is considered a starter lense given the spectrum of amazing Canon lense lineup available for professional photography, I will be keeping this one because it has niche uses.

This is the best zoom lens that is available out there for a crop sensor, I love the images that come out of this lens.

I am very happy with this lens, and an excellent costumer service on Best Buy. I will recommend if you need some for quality and price.

Honestly, I expected more from this Canon lens considering that it was a rather expensive lens.

Amazing lens lots of lights coming in, even in f/9 indoor in Av is still bright picture perfect to my canon body, 77mm filter big difference in my kit lens. Build quality of the 17-55. The lens has a good solid feel.
Nice bokeh at maximum aperture f/2.8. I wanted the Ultrasonic Motor (USM) feature, since this is known to be the fastest and quietest autofocus technology.
The image stabilizer-this feature is definitely worth it. It makes taking sharp pictures in every shot. I would recommend this lens..

If you are looking to get this lens you already know about the major review sites and have already read all about them. The only negative thing I have found about this lens is the size and weight. It is larger and heavier than the kit lens. If you don't mind that go for it.

Bought Rebel T5i with kit lens. After a few months of learning new hobby I went to New Orleans and decided to rent this lens for the trip. Absolutely loved the results. I ended up buying the lens. I also bought the tamron 150-600 and got into birds and sports etc. and ended up getting new canon 7d mark ii because I felt I was not going to go full frame for another year or so and the results I get from this lens on both camera bodies are very nice for what i want to do. Personal stuff and not full time weddings, portraits perhaps as full frame would be the way to go I assume but then you have to get another lens to boot as this will not fit full frame. So, I would say if you don't think you will go full frame get this lens as an every day type lens.

This lens while being a bit expensive is worth every penny. While being extremely sharp and a constant 2.8 this lens is above any 17-50 lens out there in its class..I highly recommend this lens if ur looking for the best non L lens canon has to offer
