    Bad Focus

I was very excited to get this lens and picked it up the first day it was available. I am even more so disappointed with it. There are 2 reasons I had to return this lens. The first main issue is the focus! Auto focus is on par if that is all you plan to use. The issue is the manual focus. It is hard to explain but there is a lag when focusing. The lens still uses an electronic focus when you switch to manual focus. When you turn the focus ring, there is a delay and then you hear the motor focus. Making precise focus is almost impossible because it focuses different amounts when you turn the focus ring the same amount (sometimes it doesn't even focus and you have to turn it more). The second issue is that the lens often makes skin and faces "cartoonish" it's also hard to explain. When everything in the picture is at the correct exposure, the highlights of a persons face appear mono toned/over exposed or like you cranked adobe lightroom's "luminance" setting to 150%. Another issue that is worth noting is that the lens has bad corner darkening if you shoot in the shade. This can be corrected in post editing but it is a lot worse then canons other 24mm or 28mm lenses. I tested the lens on a Canon T5i. The only thing that I likes about the lens was that it is sharp and light weight. Other lenses I currently have a 18-55mm stm, and a 50mm f1.4, 50mm F1.8 (back up 50); all of which function properly on my T5i.

It was worse than 18-135mm IS STM lens on wide and narrow apertures: when photographing faces, it makes dark side even darker/underexposed, bright side even brighter/overexposed and resulting face is too unattractive (unnatural light, shades and wrinkles) :) while kit lens makes the face exposure more even (natural light, good color, less shades, good face). Otherwise it's ok lens, very useful for general photography at night thanks to f2.8.

it is not exactly what I expected based on the YOU TUBE tutorials that I watched about this product before I went and bought it. The only feature that really pleases me is that it is good for daily walks as it is not very long. I've shown this to 2 of my friends and they are not pleased either.

Purchased this instead of the regular 50mm...I was excited to use it but the pictures where all out of focus...I had a big front focusing issue. The lens in very small and light weight as to be expected but the quality was not there...I would not recommend this lens

The images are great. The issue is related to the build. This lens fits very tight. Too tight. Hate to have a 100 dollar lens wreck the mount on a 2000 dollar rig. Called can it is a know issue, but offered no help. returned.

Images were not sharp, had better luck with the 10-18mm lens for architecture and other wide angle photography.
