Wider Unique Prospective For APS-C Cameras

APS-C cameras give you great telephoto length but sometimes make width of composition difficult. If you have a large family group in a small room setting this lens might be your answer. Probably why it is also popular for real estate and architectural photography. I plan on using it also for travel landscape shots as well. Some shots at the 10mm range may show some peripheral illumination issues as well as distortions however most of Canon's newer camera can correct for this or you can use Canon's DPP software on raw images for correction. One point to consider is that if you are planning on using your cameras on board flash on the wide end of this lens you will observe a lens shadow for indoor photography. The easy workaround is to use an external flash such as Canon's 430 mounted to your cameras shoe and the shadow will be gone. I have been pleased so far with the sharpness of my images. Hope this helps your decision.

This lens has great quality pics. I’m not photographer, not even an amateur, but I can YouTube and take some decent pics. Got the sunrise over Frenchman’s Bay in Bar Harbor, Maine. Gorgeous views.

I just purchased this lens that I had wanted for a long time. I went on a trip to Vienna and wanted to shoot streets and buildings in their entirety. This wide angle lens allowed me to take great pictures that showed complete streets and buildings. I love the results of using this lens.

I have a canon T6i camera and spent weeks reading online reviews from different sites and finally decided on the Canon 10-22mm wide angle lens, I needed a lens to shoot large group shots and this lens produced beautiful crisp pictures, however at 10mm you do get a very slight fish eye appearance so you would need to adjust your distance from the subject to prevent .

Excellent wide shots, a little pricey

The only negatives I have about this lens is the price and some slight distortion. It's a little expensive, but I guess that's the price you pay for some amazing shots. The image quality is stunning. It's great for larger than life pictures (in the city surrounded by skyscrapers) and situations where the space is limited (a group shot in a small room of your house). Performs well in low light simply because there's hardly any motion blur from the wide angle. There is some slight distortion when you zoom all the way out to 10. Overall, great lens.

I have been using this lense for about 1 month now and am very happy with my images. It does not have IS but that has not been a problem. I have used it both on a tripod and handheld with no issues. The sharpness is very good. It is very lightweight. I use it with the Canon 7D. I bought this one because of the cropped sensor and the 10-22 works great.

I bought this lens primarily for vacation and I also took along a nice f2.8 24-70 but I hardly ended up using it because of the wide angle worked great for me scenic shots. Did not really know how things were going to turn out until I got back and looked at them on the big screen but for the most part there was very little noticeable distortion when in the maximum wide-angle setting. Definitely a nice lens for the bag specially when wanting to get scenery shots or complete buildings or other items when in a city environment.

This lens will get more use for any events except distance shots at airshows. It has been great for family portraits, especially in a small room. The zoom range makes it one of the most usable lens for me. The image quality has been outstanding, the lens isn't bulky, and it is easy to use. A little pricey, but sometimes you have to spend a little extra for the neat toys.

I love it. Amazing colors- I used to spend hours adjusting the pictures on Photoshop and now my pictures come out great- no changes need to be made- the lens does it all by itself. I’m a kind of a freak with the pictures; I always have my camera with me, no matter where I go. I’m not a professional photographer at all- but taking pictures with this lens makes me feel like one  It is a little bit expensive- but IT IS WORT IT!!!! The pictures are unbelievable. 10-22mm is the best for vacation; big buildings and house parties :) Hurry up and get it!

I am newer to the DSLR world. I purchased a EOS t4i with the kit 55-200 and 18-135. I had been wanting to get the 10-22 as I shoot a lot of architectural shots. This lens has exceeded my expectations on wide angle shots. The distortion is hard to even notice at the edges. Now, close up shots show a lot of distortion, BUT that's not what this lens is all about. This lens is for landscape shots and large shots. My shots have all been clear and crisp. I am very happy with this lens and I would recommend it to anyone.

Bought this lens before Canon came out with the STM version. However, I will probably keep this one since the STM version is even slower (f/4.5 - 5.6). So far it takes great images throughout the focal range. This lens is much lighter than my 18-135mm STM kit lens that came with my 70D. One issue I noticed is that it does not work well with the 70D's 19 point auto focusing. The lens took longer to focus so I switched it to center focusing and it works fine. No image stabilizer so I probably won't be shooting video with this lens. Otherwise, great wide angle lens to have for landscapes and interiors.

The wide-angle lens for Canon crop cameras

If you use a crop-sensor Canon camera and are serious about wide-angle shots, whether to "take it all in" or make other use of perspective that wide-angle gives you, this is the lens to have. The 35-mm equivalent of this lens is roughly 16-35mm, a great range. The lens is pricey, though, and Canon does not call it an L series lens although I think it is in a league with the 17-40 EF zoom, given the build and optics. Excellent!

It worked just like I expected it too but better. I used it at a work party in a limo and it worked great for getting the whole inside limo in the shot! My favorite shots to use this lens with are vehicles and cities. I am still exploring uses for it!

Most of my pictures have been experimental as I get used to this lens. I was so glad to have it as I like to do a wide angle when outside. I like including as much of the scenic as possible. This lens will enable the user to bring in more variety of color if it is there. I have never had a wide angle lens before so I am surprise by some of my success. Example, a brown dirt road in foreground, an old building and green lawn midway, and a blue sky with white clouds in the distance. Everything is in focus, not just one subject. Flowers can be included in the foreground of a picture to include more color and interest. Taking a picture of a curve in a road adds width to the area around the turn to add a little mystery in the photo. Still am trying to find scenics and subjects which will make great pictures. Sometimes need to get closer than you think and other times one can back off to get the broader view.

I have wanted this lens for quite some time, but it was always $900! This lens beats the image quality of the 17-40mm hands down. When I found this on sale I jumped on it. Right out if the box I put this in my T3i and started snapping pictures. Here's the real deal on this lens; So most Canon cameras have a CROP SENSOR, meaning not full frame which is found in the PROSUMER level cameras ($1200 body cameras). This means that you should figure out what your crop factor is (mine is 1.6) meaning this 10-22mm will act more like an 18-30mm so you can't get as close as you think and as much picture in your frame when you print! On a full frame camera this lens is so wide that you often end up with black edges. THIS IS NOT A PORTRAIT LENS!! Subjects WILL be distorted closer to the edges! This lens does bend the image on the edges which mass this lens great for landscape photography! No IS is a downer but keep in mind that because this is basically a landscape lens, landscapes don't really move to where you need it. Great image quality! People complaining about poor image quality with filters on 1) need to understand what each filter is for and how to use it 2) there is a reason why BestBuy filters are $25 and Canon ones are $200!!! IT'S THE QUALITY OF THE GLASS!!! With that said, I have no problems with this lens and its a good buy!! If you want portrait get the 85mm, zoom get the 70-300mm, macro get the 100mm IS USM.
