    Tiny EF-S Wonder

I own the EF 40mm 2.8 STM but having recently purchased a Rebel SL1, I thought that this lens would be a perfect match to such a tiny body, and it certainly is. Granted, it does not "look" as small on the SL1 as the 40mm pancake does on my 6D, but it is such a tiny and light combo, it is very easy to carry all day. The 1.6x crop factor results in a very similar focal length of around 38mm. And just like its EF sibling, this is a sharp lens with decent construction. A bit stiff to mount but I'm sure that will get better over time. The focus-by-wire is a bit weird but it gets the job done. The extra speed of an f/2.8 always comes handy indoors. I always try to avoid flash pictures when possible, especially when the flash is mounted on the camera. Overall, I'm very pleased with this great and very affordable lens.

This is a fantastic lens for the price. Clear, sharp, good color, and the build quality is great. Definitely recommend to anyone shooting with a crop sensor Canon. There are definitely better lenses out there, but for the price, this is hard to beat.

So i didn't notice the EF-S on the box....my mistake. Still a nice lens for the price. Worked on my 7D but, i needed it for my 5dmk III. If you have an EF-S mount it's a nice wide lens.

Purchased this lens after realizing that I love my nifty fifty, but needed a wider lens. This lens is just as good as the nifty fifty. A great addition to my lens collection. Great for when you want to get full body, landscape, or group photos.

    Solid STM lens from Canon

I really like the Canon 24 mm STM lens. It's not as wide angle as I would like but I like the small size. I use it on a Canon SL1. I can keep both in a large fanny pack when I am out taking pictures. It's not as bulky as the 18-55 mm that the SL1 comes with. The build quality of the 24mm is good and I tested it at all apertures and I'm happy with the image quality. I haven't really tried it for video only still photography. But, the price, you can't go wrong.

This and a 50mm f/1.8 should be everyone's first lens. Its perfect for street photography and the compact sizes makes it easier to carry around. Super sharp with a bit of vignette at 2.8 f but totally worth it.

This lens runs counter to that reality. Usually I'm torn between getting a lens that is meant for full frame and doesn't have the combination of proper field of view, aperture, and price, but this lens is a great addition to Canon's lineup that rewards crop sensor owners. It's got great detail, color reproduction and a nice field of view for an all purpose walk around/portrait lens. What's more the f/2.8 aperture is reasonably fast considering the absurdly low price point. Build quality is also top notch for the price and eschews the tacky plastic that made up the 50mm f/1.8 mkII in favor of a build quality in line with the 50mm f/1.4.

This is a fantastic lens for beginners. While the nifty fifty is a great lens in its own right, this gives you a lot more versatility being a field of view. Build quality is superb especially at this price point.

The 24mm 2.8 is a good entry level lens that is able to produce considerably clear images with its price point. Being that it is a prime and a pancake lens, it is really lightweight and ideal for travel/on-the-go.

This is an great lens for a beginner photographer that does not want to spend a lot of money for a fast lens. It is great in low light situation and has nice bokeh. Another plus is that it is small and light, making a good lens to shoot close to subjects but not making it uncomfortable for them. Only reason not a 5 star item do to not having image stabilization.

I love this lens, I’ve used it for photography and video on my 80D. It performs amazing in low light and still has the wide range. I went with this one over the 50mm because I needed a wider shot
