I returned this item because it's too slow focusing and too many blurred pictures. Instead I bought the latest Canon 70-300mm USM IS lens. I'm happy with this one

It does a good job, but to be honest...I expected more.

The lens was defective. Trash was inside the lens body. Customer was useless because I hadn't purchased in house warranty. All he would do was shove a piece of paper with Canon's phone number.!

returned as already had it and was charged a restocking fee. this was a gift. They didn't want to hear it.... There loss

Lots of retailers are selling the older Canon EF IS-II (non-STM) 55-250mm lens at a reduced price. Sometimes that lens is even included free with the Rebel camera kits. (Canon must be offering these units to retailers at blowout prices.) But in most cases, this lens is worth the extra few bucks. If you want a longer zoom for shooting HD video with your Rebel DSLR, then the STM lens -- with a quieter stepper motor design vs. the older ultrasonic motor -- will prevent any noise from the lens motor from entering into your video. The only case in which I would get the older EF IS-II lens would be if you never shoot video and think you might someday upgrade to Canon's pro line of DSLR camera bodies, such as the EOS 1D, 5D or 6D series. Those are the pricier models that use a larger image sensor and therefore need the EF lenses. EF-S lenses are not compatible with full-frame DSLR cameras.

Bought this with a Canon T3i instead of the 75-300 that is usually sold in the 'kit'. His is an upgrade from the 55-250 IS II and I am totally happy with it. Fast lens, takes great photos in low light. Also, the front of the lens does not rotate, so it works well with circular polarizing filters which you need for outdoor shooting in bright sunlight. Another great feature is to manually focus (micro focus), even if the Autofocus setting is set on the lens, you just grab the focus ring and focus - the focus ring is not "locked" in Autofocus mode. Great lens. Highly recommended.

I have ONLY had it a week and took over 500 photos at last weeks Varsity football game. The pictures were so clear, and zoom was super! I sat on the top of the bleachers and no matter which end of field I was shooting pictures of the players, they turned out great. I think I only deleted 20-30 pictures that were not clear. I put the camera on sports setting and zoomed in and took pictures to my hearts content. First time using a lens like this and found it easier than I thought it was going to be!! Love my new camera and lens!

This lens works well with our camera. It is easy to handle. It was priced nicely for a telephoto lens. I recommend this lens.

Love this zoom lens. It does a fantastic job and you will probably need a tripod to support still shots.

This is a great lens and allows me to shoot at a variety of distances. The shutter speed is very fast which means lots of action shots that come out very clear. The only issue I have with my lens is when trying to focus on certain objects. If you are using manual focus this is not a problem, but in auto focus the lens sometimes will focus on the object next to or just behind where I am trying to get the picture and it isn't noticeable until you upload the pictures on the computer.

I got this for sale price. I was originally going for the 300 mm one but this came out cheaper with the sale. Not bad. Zooms in pretty far while keeping the picture nice and clear.

I love this lens. Has a stabilizer built in. Can't take chose pictures with it so make sure you are buying it to take pictures that you want to take from a distance!!!

Great lens for a carry 1 lens. I have pretty much stopped carrying anything but the camera and this lens. bright enough to not carry a flash for my use.

Bought this for my sons graduation and got excellent photos. Even my mom was jealous that I got shots she could never get on her little camera.

Been wanting an additional lenses since I bought the camera. This one was a great chose. Stabilizer is a must. Price is well worth it.
