I use this a lot for nature shots and it works really well. If you are trying to capture animals at a further distance then you probably want to go higher than 250mm. I am very happy with the lense. Quick AF and clear pictures.

I’m a beginner at photography so I brought this as a budget friendly lens. For what I do works great . Works well with my new canon rebel T8i. Took some great shots of the moon. No photo-shop.

I purchased this lens to replace the lens that came with the T6i kit. It takes clear crisp photos (in proper lighting of course) you can also get a little bokeh if you distance yourself correctly. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the heaviness of the lens (durable build I must say) and also it's pretty noisey and slower at auto focusing. Quick review, but I hope this helps.

I'm just an amateur and beginner in nature/wildlife photography. I recently bought the Canon Rebel T7 bundle that came with the Canon 75-300mm lens, and wanted to upgrade to a better lens. The 55-250mm is much better in my opinion. My pictures look sharper, less grainy, and blurry. The built-in stability will really help with little shakes. It's also affordable and won't break the bank. I would definitely purchase again.

I purchased mine brand new in the box. PROs: 1. Affordable - can't beat the price for what it does. 2. Flexible - great for family photos, portraits, wildlife/nature, sports... 3. Accurate - whether taking a shot at 55mm or 250mm, the clarity and sharpness is the same (excellent)! 4. Weight - since it's mostly plastic, it's very light and great to take with you on a hike. CONs: 1. Quality - the only feature I do not like about this lens is the mounting ring, which is plastic! It should be metal, and it wouldn't add much to the expense of this otherwise, great lens. 2. The stabilizer works just "OK" - not great, but not bad either. I never use it. 3. The manual ring is a nice size, but it's sticky - not as smooth as I would expect from Canon.

I bought this lens for my son's high school graduation, and let me tell you it works great. It takes really good pictures at a distance of 200 feet. Good picture quality and has optical image stabilization to reduce the effects of camera shake. Overall I gave it a 5 because it a good product. If you are not sure which lens to buy or if you are a beginner like me, this lens is the answer. Of course there are other lenses out there that do the same, but they cost hundreds more. So if you are not a professional photographer you probably won't need an expensive lens anyway. If you need it only because you are going to take pictures at a party, graduation or family reunion or just for a hobby, this lens is for you. Just remember this lens is not for normal range it is only intended to use at a distance between 55-250mm focal length of zooming. If you are not sure which lens to purchase, check all the reviews first before you commit to buying a one.

This consumer-grade lens is designed for use in Canon's APS-sensor based DSLRs (For instance, the Rebel product line). By itself, it normally sells for $300, but as of summer 2017 the lens is selling for only $150 if bundled with buying a new camera. Some might consider the fact that this zoom lens is pretty much all plastic (Barrel, Mount, etc.) as sign of lesser quality. However, one has to keep the price tag in mind. Furthermore, the plastic parts help to keep the total weight of the lens fairly low (13.3 oz./ 377g). The EF-S 55-250mm IS STM is a fast and silent focusing (Stepping Motor) sharp lens with Image Stabilization. Any amateur photographer looking for an affordable zoom lens with great capability should be happy with this one.

I been using the Canon EF-S 55-250mm telephoto zoom lens for a couple three weeks now and it serves me well. Shooting an objects such as a coyote from a long distance or a praying mantis as an extreme close up, this lens doesn't disappoint . I was sooting a stag from across a canyon and I was able to zoom in on its antlers, a beautiful picture. Using the auto focus my pictures were crystal clear . The image stabilization works great adding to the quality of this Canon lens. I am glad I bought this lens and buying at Best Buy is always a snap. If your looking for a lens to shoot far away objects or if your shooting extreme close ups Use the Canon 55-250 mm.

This is a steal for the money! I bought it for my wife for her Canon M50 for wildlife photography and she is a thousand percent happy with it! One caveat: It needs an adapter ring to mount it to an M50, but wow. What a clear lens.

I purchased this lens during a sale without really sampling the lens. The auto focus and zoom on this lens are quick easy, as well as continuing to take quality photos. I would recommend however, trying out a lens before purchasing to be sure it is the right lens for you. That being said, it is a great lens for the price and I do not regret spending the money on it.

I wanted a reasonable telephoto lens to supplement the normal lens that was supplied with the Canon EOS T5i. This one links easily to the auto focus function on the camera. Easy to zoom, enables me to do distance shots of the surfers on the waves as well as enlarged "close ups" (really from far away - a sort of imitation macro) that are sharp and clear with ability to do my depth of field arsy stuff with a sharp large flower in a soft background. This lens will let me do all sorts of creative shots. I'm glad I bought it. Expensive but well worth the cost.
