Yet another great L lens. The f/2.8 is fast enough for low light shooting and it is a great portrait lens. The build quality is great and the lens is light enough to carry around all day without worries. The IS is a great feature, especially when trying to shoot macro and portraits handheld.

Great image quality, and the lens stabilization is very helpful when getting those close up shots. I use it with a metabones ultra 0.71x speedbooster on my GH5s and I am quite happy with it. It allows you to get nice a punched in when you can't necessarily get all that close to your subject. Autofocus works reasonably well for getting stills.

For anyone who has mastered camera basics, lighting, and is tired of zoom lenses, this lens is a must have. Absolutely best macro lens on the market. Makes even the most boring subject interesting. Also great as a portrait lens at times. I shoot weddings, products, and food, and this lens is used every single shoot.

Usual high quality build by Canon. 1:1 close focus capability. Fast f2.8. focus motor a little loud. Also refocuses frequently - this may be just because of difficulty finding focus point when working so close.

I worked for 5 years as a jewelry photographer, and this lens held up like a champ. I would, however, caution prospective purchasers that you will experience a notable decline in sharpness at f 19 or smaller. The sweet spot (for maximum depth of field without losing sharpness) is f/16. You can get away with f/19 if you don't plan to really scrutinize the image at a large magnification.

This lens is perfect for detail shots and close ups and creates nice buttery bokeh. Perfect for shooting rings, flowers, and anything of that nature.

Outstanding 100mm macro lens, with the image stabilization giving you 4 stops more hand hold ability this is leaps and bounds more capable then my older 100mm macro with no image stabilization. The glass in this lens is razor sharp.

I debated between this lens and anther Canon lens and decided I wanted the macro capability. But it works well as a mid-range lens on appropriate scenes and the image is very crisp. I was going to order online, but actually got the same good price at Best Buy and got is soon without shipping issues.

Why didn't I get this lens sooner? Ok, the autofocus is as slow as it gets, but when it does focus it is sharp as a tack. And it's not only a great macro lens, but I also love using it for my portrait work.

I own the non is version of this lens. I found myself taking many shots that involved moving insects at short distances and the focus was slightly off. The IS on this lens greatly improved my shots. I really like this lens and for the small price difference I should have bought this one first. Will I sell the non IS version, probably not.

So people have conflicting ideas about a "macro" lens. This is a 100mm Fixed lens that has a main function of being able to get amazing detailed macro shots of anything you want, while also being a regular 100mm lens! The possibilities are endless with this guy and it has Image Stabilization to boot!

Best Buy shipped it really fast! This is a fantastic lens. I've never done macro photography before so it's difficult. Lots of shots too out of focus, but when it's on point it's on POINT!!! This has to do with me and not the lens.
