Customers love the EF50mm F1.4 USM Standard Lens for its exceptional image quality and beautiful bokeh. Many appreciate its strong low-light performance and ease of use, finding it well-suited for portraits and offering good value for the price. A minor drawback mentioned by some users is the audible noise during autofocus.

This is a very good lens. I shoot with a Canon 7d and T2i as my back up. I use this lens primarily for street shooting and for portrait work.. I can't use this lens as often wide open as I would like to due to color fringing and other issues associated with wide open shooting, however it is just as good the 1.2L or the 1.8 when stopped down beyond 1.8. Bokeh is a bit hash, but not annoyingly so. The main reason to get this lens is the build quality over the 1.8 or as we lovingly call it "fantastic plastic." I used the 1.8 for years and is what people say it is, A fantastic lens for the price, but when you are ready to have an actual focus ring that is useable, the extra 3/4th stop option and the better build quality, This will work a lot better for your system

Extremely clear shots taken with this lens, with very detailed pictures regardless of lighting in the background. Not necessarily the every day lens or one from long distances, but used it for my sister in law's wedding and the close up shots taken were amazing. Decent price for the lens, as it was on sale (about 10% off).

This lens is amazing and works well. I highly recommend the 50mm 1.4 over the 1.2 because it has enough depth of field and the 1.2 is way more expensive. I love the quality of images I get with this lens over the 24-70 1.4. It is a great lens for landscape and for portraits. I only use the 24-70 for action shots.

I purchased this lens to shoot a live band in a very low lit venue. It worked like a charm. I used in on a crop sensor body. Canon 7D MKII. In hind site the venue was pretty small and I wish i could have gotten a 35mm lens instead.
The Image quality and blurred background it beautiful with this lens.

I currently have the canon 50mm 1.8 that I bought from Best Buy early last year and it is great. I used that lens on my canon T6i and the results were outstanding. I bought a 5D mark iii earlier this year, so I decided to get the 50mm 1.4 to try it out. It's an amazing lens and pretty fast for a lens of that price. Definitely worth the money

Love this lens! Build isn’t great but doesn’t feel cheap. It’s built fully out of plastic. I would recommend this over the f/1.2 version. Tack sharp but the focus is loud and not very smooth. Would recommend this to any photographer. Would only use this in videography with manual focus.

The quality and the extra light you get from this lense , makes it worth for me expending the extra money , very easy to use and makes your DSLR look like a more regular camera instead of having a huge lense when you are being a tourist , love the rear glare (main reason why I got it) even taking regular pictures works great!

This lens is an absolutely amazing portrait lens. with the lens having the ability to shoot at a 1.4, the lens creates amazing bohkeh. The colors are rich and deep. And the lens creates sharp and crisp images. I highly recommend this lens to any photographer enthusiast or amateur.

For only $350ish dollars, this is a great 1.4 lens. Even though this is meant for a full frame canon like 6D or 5D series, it still shoots killer shots on my t5i. Being that I'm using it on a crop sensor camera, it's really like an 80mm lens. Still super sharp at 1.4 and the bokeh is really nice, great for portrait shots!

An incredible mid-level lens that really helps to separate your subject from the background. The bokeh and sharp focus are unparalleled for this price and prime lens. I made the step up from the f/1.8 50 mm and I can happily say that I will never go back

Great standard prime lens for anyone who wants the dramatic depth of field. Great focal length for portraits and street photography. Maximum aperture of 1.4 gives you tons of abilities in low light conditions. If you're looking for some premium bokeh for a great price, this is your lens.

I have had several lens for my canon. This has to be the best by far. Great quality lens not heavy and also amazing for portraits, family pictures, kids etc. I get very nice pictures in low light setting or great light setting. Would recommend investing in this lens over the 1.4

I bought this lens to upgrade from the 50mm 1.8. I've used it at 2 photo shoots and around the house for lifestyle images of my children. Love it so far. It's fast, has sharp focus, and works well in low light. It has a much sturdier feel, unlike the 1.8 which feels so cheap.

Great lens for low light. Can get some serious depth of field...maybe too much if you don't want it. I've read complaints about this. Adjust your aperture if it's too fuzzy for you but don't blame the lens for doing what it is supposed to at f/1.4.
Also, I've had some issues with the autofocus at shorter distances (outside of the minimum distance required to focus) but generally when the camera was set to auto focus on a single point. Seemed to correct itself by using the multipoint focus. Or you can just use manual focus to get it all the same.

This is probably the best lens you can have, both beginner and advance. The dept of field is remarkable with image so clear that no other telephoto lens can deliver. Very portable and light, ideal for traveling.

I have been using this lens as my go to lens. It has not come off of my camera since I purchased it. It is the best lens for portrait photography which is what I mostly do. This lens is super sharp, and has amazing capabilities to get a beautiful background blur and bokeh.
