Customers are saying

Customers love the EF50mm F1.4 USM Standard Lens for its exceptional image quality and beautiful bokeh. Many appreciate its strong low-light performance and ease of use, finding it well-suited for portraits and offering good value for the price. A minor drawback mentioned by some users is the audible noise during autofocus.

This is probably the best lens you can have, both beginner and advance. The dept of field is remarkable with image so clear that no other telephoto lens can deliver. Very portable and light, ideal for traveling.

I have been using this lens as my go to lens. It has not come off of my camera since I purchased it. It is the best lens for portrait photography which is what I mostly do. This lens is super sharp, and has amazing capabilities to get a beautiful background blur and bokeh.

Love this lens but I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the sigma art 35mm which is of course more than double the price. The lens is sharp and takes beautiful portraits. My only complaint is that the focus ring is prone to getting damaged/ bent which renders the auto and manual focus useless. Plenty of reviews about that problem on the internet. But still pretty decent prime lens for the price.

Good lens for the price. Great picture quality and great effects at F1.4... The focus ring could be a little smother but it's ok. A nice upgrade from your basic 18-55mm kit lens. If anyone read this I would recommend save a little more money and get the 35mm 1.4. These two lenses are worth your money. Keep in mind this lens has no Image Stabilizing do you have to play with your setting a bit to get good pics! Have fun

This is an awesome lens for portrait pics and for low lighting. Only downfall is when doing video you have to manually focus the lens

Great lens, last saturday , went out with my grandsons , was able to take pictures very close up , and all around , the pictures all were perfect, with very bright sunlight, not any work at all, did not have to work hard, to get that great picture, did not have any shadows, was taking pictures very fast, as not to miss the one great shot, was very pleased, with the lens, can't go wrong for the price i, have other len's for my mark ii ,that cost 4 to 5 time's more and i am just as pleased with this one, all the shots where all action, the kids rolling logs and non stop action. Like having the fixed len's this is a new frontier for me ,really fun!!!

Anticipated buying this prime for a while, read plenty of reviews. It is everything that I expected, a good fast mid focal range lens. Its quick focus and good low light performance make it a good addition to my bag.

I had the 1.8 and decided to buy this one too. I think this one is better for the nifty fifty class and price. The 1.8 was good for price but for a 100 bucks more you get a better lens.

I have used this lens primarily for portrait photos. It is very clear and quick to focus. Very durable construction. It is a definite need to have this lens in your camera bag for those candid shots that you might run across

This is a great mid priced lens that delivers great low light results. Very happy with the bokeh too. Used for informal portraits to just following the kids around, inside and out, it really delivers!

This is an amazing lens at a wonderful price. DEFINITELY get the 1.4 instead of the 1.8. It's worth the extra money and not too much higher in price. The quality is amazing in my 5D. I use for video

I recently got into DSLR filmmaking and totally ignored my colleagues' recommendation that I just buy a camera body without the sub-par quality kit lens. Well, after being disappointed with the DOF of the kit lens for a few months I broke down and bought the Canon - 50mm f/1.4 EF USM Lens. This little baby is a gem! I did a lot of comparison shopping before making the purchase and I have to say this lens delivers on all its promises. I'd recommend getting yourself a compatible ND filter if you're shooting movies with the iris all the way open to get shallow DOF.
