I recently bought this lens to replace my old lens of the same size. My old one had been having issues so I needed a new one. I really like the improvement in this lens, it's much faster to focus and I can reach out in distance than my old lens. I think this lens for what it is, does really well and the photos it takes are really nice. This is a good lens if you need to cover some distance, and don't have a lot of money to spend.

A great lens for an intermediate to professional photographer. The IS facilitates clearer images. It's a heavy lens, yet very sturdy. Used in both AF and MF modes. Images from both were stellar. It has become one of my go-to lens.

Love the sharpness you get with this lens. Zoom is great for wildlife. Attached photo is unedited so you can see what images look like right out of camera

The Canon - EF70-300 IS II USM Telephoto Zoom is a great addition to anyones camera bag. You can pull in some medium telephoto shots or to get incredibly close up portraits. It is also fast enough to get outdoor shots on the quick aim.
The pictures below were taken at the Bill Archer Bark Park in Houston, Texas, USA.

Sadly I will have to return this. I love the lens when it is working it takes great photos. Key word is working. About every 5 photos I get an err60 Lens error Will shut down automatically Restart Camera. Which when taking professional photos does not look very professional to the client, that you have to keep stopping restarting the camera. I also take action photos for sports and this issue caused me to miss a lot of great shots. Upon looking at the reviews since I bought the lens. This is a common issue with this lens and not just the one I purchased. I couldn't wait to get this lens and was waiting on a notice that it was available. I was really needing another EF70-300 IS lens to replace my one I had since 2016. This was the only one that met that range at a reasonable price. Now they are no longer being sold. The issue is one cannon isn't able to figure out because they can't seem to duplicate it. Like I said when it is working it takes great photos. Save your money.

Well made, easy to use. Very happy with the pictures I’ve been taking with it on my Canon Rebel T3. Only wildlife so far, mostly birds. Plenty of light getting in even on cloudy days.

I am venturing into photography as a retirement hobby. I own Canon Rebel T6s with several lenses. However, none powerful enough to take a moon shot. After reviews and suggestions on YouTube I decided to get the ef 70-300mm, and I was not disappointed. The controls were easy switching to manual operation and the focus was great.

Excellent Buy for the Money!!

I purchased this lens a couple months ago and just used on a trip to St. Maarten. I own a couple L lenses and this lens holds its own quite well. The auto focus is instant and accurate and the photos are very sharp. Chromatic aberration is held to a minimum, colors are bright vibrant .. the build quality is pretty good, not quite L quality (but it doesn't cost L money either!!) I couldn't be more impressed .. Great images through out the zoom range .. If you're looking for a really good lens, at a good price, that focuses at an incredibly fast speed .. you're looking in the right place. If it came with a lens hood it would be the perfect buy!!

I got this lens to shoot my kids sports games. I can usually get close enough for the kit lens that came with the camera. But for those times that I can't this is a lens that gets me close enough to get a great shot. The price was great and the build is awesome for a father who likes to take pictures. I would have gave it 5 stars but it is not great for night games. I higher Fstop would give it 5 stars. However the better lens costs way more than I could spend at the time. I will look into that lens in the future as I need it.

For many enthusiasts the price range of high end Telephoto lenses are too expensive, and often to heavy & bulky to carry around. The new Canon 70-300 USM ii is a reliable, light telephoto perfect for walkaround hikes, trips to the zoo, etc. It does suffer in low light, however, and will require adjustments on your camera to compensate for it. Overall quick to focus & reasonably sharp for its class
