    Captures solid telephoto images and the USM motor is wonderfully quiet. Definitely opt on a non-Canon hood lens if you buy, as it's half the price of Canon's hood. No sense in paying $26 for a piece of plastic covering.

    I like the fact this is a 70-300 mm f4 to f5.6 mark II from Canon and it only cost $450 (without tax). Very versatile and light compared to the 70-200mm f2.8 version, so you can put it in your travel bag along with a 35mm f1.4 from Sigma.

    I was looking for a lens that I could use as a multipurpose lens for sports. This lens has great quality but isn’t close enough. Still need to change out for another lens. I returned it.

    This lens is the best version of Canon's 70-300 series yet. It is the fastest and quietest focusing, it has shortest minimum focus distance, and the glass is the best thus far as well. It is quite a bit sharper than past models as well. I do think the LCD status window is very gimmicky - unless you are using this on a tripod and in Live View, it is absolutely worthless. I wish they omitted and drop 50 bucks from the price.
