    Great lens for all(Almost)

I just got into photography last year around christmas, I got the Canon XS with 18-55mm IS and the 75-300mm. I have since then used a wide range of lens so I hope this review can be helpful. The first thing I noticed about the 75-300mm is that it was quite heavy and very long. It made my Canon XS very VERY front heavy. I have gone to a few events(airshows, sporting events) and this was the main lens I used, I found that the image quality was decent, but when I zoomed into the picture on my computer, the edges of the subject were colored blue, purple, green, or yellow 80% of the time. So I would say the image quality is average if not a tad below. But what else can you expect for $200? For the price, you can't beat this lens. I would definately recomend this lens if you need a decent telephoto lens, I would also recomend a tripod since it can be a bit tricky to get a clear shot since the lens lacks IS. Overall, I love this lens! You wont regret buying I promise. Thanks for reading!

    inexpensive zoom

This is a good zoom for beggining.Good image quality in outdoors.Best if used with a tripod or monopod. There is no image stablizer so the futher you zoom the steadier the camera has to be.On the plus side with it being an EF lens you can buy an inexpensive teleconverter and double your zoom. All in all a good lens for being part of a package. I probably would have purchased seperatly if it wasn't offered.

Great for outdoor use. I would suggest that you use an UV filter when using it outdoors. It is easy to focus but when you press the shutter, there is a tendency that the camera will shake. Overall, it is a decent starter zoom lens. I highly recommend this

I hesitated buying this lens...because of some of the reviews...after about five months of usage I am glad I purchased this lens... I have used this lens in various light situations...I have caught hummingbirds in perfect focus with patience in dusk light...the trick is making the camera work with the lens...the best thing about digital is you can take pictures to your memory cards heart desire...hahahahaha...so you can take multiple shots and eventually get something to be proud of...if you are a professional and need the perfect shot...you should have enough money to buy the better lenses...I've been shooting for 45 years...and have seen the many changes in cameras...I find some of the best photos are taken by amateurs and non-professionals who take the time to learn how to use their cameras and understand the settings...auto usually works as well...so if you need an economical lens and you're not going to have a critic judge your photos...take pictures and keep your money in your pocket until the day you can afford something better...realistically...a hundred dollars more will get you image stabilization and less distance in zoom...so you can take it from there...both have the same speed as far as fstop...so no improvement there and that's where it counts most... I would recommend this to a friend in most cases...if they are a funny duddy perfectionist...they need to save another 100 dollars...but this lens will work if you make it work... It will give you some noise at long distance zoom...but most do anyway...it is slow in low light...that means you can't really open up the f-stop enough to make it fast enough...with a digital camera...you can overcome this...with ISO settings and tripod...I get good shots without tripod...most photography is done in a midday light...so it's fast enough for that... Hope this helps... Blue

You can get a few great shots out of a hundred. if you don't mind scrolling through tons of photos for that great pic then buy. This lens need lots of light ..lots of light. Some things can be fixed with digital processing, but that takes time. If you dont have the money for a better lens try it.. and be patient. I am no professional. The sample photos were taken with the this lens on an original 6 mega pixel Rebel, i now have a T2i but image size are too large to upload in this review. the pics look much better on the t2i.

I recently got the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III telephoto zoom for about $220, and I’m really impressed by what this lens offers — especially for the price. Here’s what I love about it, and why I think it’s a solid choice for someone wanting reach without breaking the bank.

I have found in my time with this lens that I can get some amazing shots! The only downfall is when zoomed all the way out it is very hard to get crisp images without a tripod. However as long as you stay in the 100-200mm range you should be fine.

When I bought this lens to use in the Canada F1 GP, I thought that I could regret later because of the price I was paying for this lens. But for me, that am not a professional, it came out a very good surprise how well it performed. I am glad that I risk buying this item.

    Great First Lens

This lens came in a bundle pack when I bought my Cannon T3i. Since then, I can't imagine not having it! It's a great lens for capturing people/animals from a far distance. I use it more than the normal lens that my camera came with, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy an additional lens for their camera. I've used it to capture some awesome photos of animals in nature, people, and far away landscapes. Also, this lens brings out "blues" and "greens" very nicely, so it's great for photos of lakes, oceans, etc. The green especially, is very vivid when taking pictures of plants. Additionally, the detail is amazing and the lens is very easy to focus and use. The only down side is that the lens sometimes shakes when your holding your camera, so you have to keep a steady hand. But other than that, it's a quick and durable lens. I bring it everywhere!

I did not receive the item as it was left outside without it being handed over. I feel gutted about it but it is, what it is. I had to buy another from England as it was a gift I was supposed to buy on my US trip for my SO. She loves the lens but it cost me 2X as I wasn't given a refund too. I hate to distort product reviews with issues not concerning the product and the reason the 5 Stars. It's an inexpensive lens for beginners.

    Kit lens

I used this lens to shoot a couple of Eagles sitting in a tree. I actually stopped on the Hiway and set up my tripod. Zoomed in at full zoom and took several shots. When I got home and uploaded to my Lr4 I could not crop and get a clear picture. I'm new to this so maybe it was user error. When I talked to my local Camera shop they just more or less agreed that this lens was not the greatest lens. It will however provide great shots at closer range.

The lens produces sharp and clear images, but it takes a little time to find focus. I’m using it with my R7 and it works well overall.

Inexpensive and great addition to my set up! This lens has manual and auto focus as does the one that came with the camera. When you have to take multiple shots this lens has no real lag time and keeps 99% of the pictures clear and in focus. Thats an amazing ratio for the price :)

I got this for my camera refurbished, love it, the zoom is great from mountain tops down to the town of bar harbor. durable and good performance. Please note pics may seem blurry because of the miniature filter affect, I have clear pics, but are to big of a file to upload.

What I love about this lens is that while it is very high quality, it is incredibly easy to use. Defenitely was perfect for taking those longer shots that the basic lens wasn't capable of taking very well.

Thi lens is a very nice lens for the price. Easy to chage out on my Canon. Good picture quality. It's not a telescope so don't expect it to zoom in enough to count the feathers on a bird 300 ft away.
