Just purchased the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR Camera Model:1483C002 SKU:5578523. I like the large 30.4-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and a 100-32,000 ISO range that lets you take large photos. Real nice camera.

Sensor issues and dirt in viewfinder

I have had the absolute worst luck obtaining a camera with No Issues. I have been through 6 camera bodies and if it's not one thing it's another. First two bodies had sensor issues see attached image... the second two had an unexceptionable amount of dirt and or dust in the viewfinder... the fourth, fifth as well as the one that I am stuck with now all have the same sensor issues as the first two and the Best Buy in Folsom California refuses to help me in anyway they told me to take it up with Canon... wow thanks a lot I have spent a ton of money with Best Buy and will be taking my business elsewhere from now on!

    5D Mark IV vs III

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

5D Mark III was released in 2012 5D Mark IV was released in 2016 There is also a mirroless EOS R6 released in 2020 If you do videography, it is definitely an upgrade because it does 1080 at 60 FPS and 4K at 30. That alone is an ugprade. Mark III only did 1080 at 30. IV also has a touch screen focus and face tracking. It also has smartphone WIFI features. 5D Mark III has 22.3MP 5D Mark IV has 30.4MP Higher mega pixels isn't everything, but there is also more detail in photos with IV. The 5D Mark III is still a great camera and is a better value now. However, if video is your thing, you may look into IV or the latest mirrorless cameras. The EOS R6 loses the additional top LCD display, but gets a flippable screen and does 10bit 4K at 60 with H264 codec vs MJPEG

I am in awe of this camera! It's my first full frame DSLR camera which I selected after many hours of research. Research can drive one crazy as there's so much material (ads, videos, reviews, reviewer's and personal preferences, etc.) to read before making a decision about such a large purchase. Do the research though to make sure you get the right camera for you. After nearly 3 weeks in Europe I'm sure I made the right choice. Performance was flawless and operation was easy on this feature-rich camera, Menus are complete, concise and rational. This is hugely important as making adjustments is fast - no searching through excessive or confusing menus to find what you need. While some camera menus systems are good some are absolutely Byzantine! Canon's is, IMO, the best. This is also my first Canon after being a lifetime Nikon shooter. Solid construction and great materials are evident. Button layout and overall ergonomics provide me the easiest handling for a camera of this size and weight. Other cameras of this level (which were all great) just didn't seem as easy to handle or were as nimble in my hands. Not having any full frame lenses made the brand change easy for me. As is said "One buys a camera but marries the lens system." IMO it is difficult if not impossible to beat Canon L glass. Some reviewers did not rate this camera at the top for video performance but the few videos I experimented with looked really excellent to me. I'm not a skilled videographer so take that into account. Still shots are off the chart amazing though. The features of this camera are mind-boggling! I was able to learn a limited number of features and modes before my trip so I was able to get some amazing shots. I expect better after I've read the rest of the 600+ page owner's manual. This is a serious camera one grows into and it will remain functionally relevant for a very long time. I LOVE THIS CAMERA..

I used original 5D and 5D MkII but skipped MkIII version due to lack of updates in sensor resolution and dynamic range, especially noisy shadows. I've been using Canon 6D instead for the past three years, and I think that it's one of the best values in camera world. I hesitated to even try out the new 5D MkIV and was contemplating jumping ship over to Sony and their amazing a7R II. Well, I can say I'm extremely glad I went with MkIV. Camera is a huge upgrade from 6D in every sense, especially AF, but also enormous sensor quality upgrade compared to 5D MkIII. I'm using 1DX MkII as well, and I prefer 5D MkIV. Camera body is very light, super responsive, AF performance is on par with 1DX MkII, but sensor is simply phenomenal. Dynamic range is 90% identical to Sony a7R II but you get to keep Canon's beautiful colors and skin tones. 30Mpx is plenty (I'm printing 24x36 regularly) and the files are simply beautiful. I'm not shooting lots of video, but from what I've seen so far, the quality is stunning. Yes, 4K video is using 1.7x crop and MJPG codec is using a lot of memory card space, but the quality is simply amazing. Try it, you won't be disappointed. I know I'm not!

The new 5D Mark IV camera does not disappoint in features, or quality. It's a professional full frame camera packed with all the latest goodies, from built in wifi, GPS and touch screen functionality. If you are a canon person and are use to their menus you'll feel right at home and will be up and running with this camera in no time. The image quality is superb 30.4MP, fast 7fps, 61 point AF system.... I am extremely impressed and pleased with this camera.

Long overdue upgrade to my 40D

I upgrade from my 40D after my wife signed me up for a birdwatching course. It's like night and day. I've been immersing myself in manuals and YouTube videos learning how to use as many features of this camera as I can and I am very impressed with how easy it is to use and the quality of the pictures I am getting. It's not fair to compare this with the 40D, but it's all I have to go on. Owning a 40D for so long meant that the learning curve was not too steep so if you own another Canon you can probably make the leap to this model without much issue (that is if I am not the last person to buy a 5D. :) In the past, I was a Basic Mode shooter, but the 5D doesn't not have those. It has an automatic mode, but not portrait, landscape, etc. This forces you to learn more about how to use a camera properly. It was daunting at first, but after a couple of weeks, I feel comfortable using all the features. It's a dated camera now so there are other options. For my needs, I don't feel like I am missing out by not getting a newer model or a mirrorless camera. I feel like I've bought a very good camera at a good price because of its age, but that's OK for me because I don't need cutting edge. Loving this camera.

Much Cheaper To Upgrade My Gear.

I almost got caught up in the madness with the mirrorless systems coming out. I'm coming from the 6D Mark ii. The retail price of the new models coming out are not going to be cheap. Why should they be? Canon charges too much for their gear, and people buy it. I did purchase the EOS R and shot with it for a week and took it back. It felt like a toy in my hands. And even though there's an adapter for all my EF's to mate up, at some point I would have bought the RF lenses for the sake of using the lens system that camera was made for. They say the adapter for EF to RF is without sacrifice of quality. Well then they should have built the mirrorless with an EF mount. Think about that... I did. Then I spent $2500 on the 5D4. and will use L glass with it. Just picked up a used 70-200 F4 IS for $500. How long do you think it will be until the RF lenses show up on ebay? The 5D4 is not obsolete and the L glass is the perfect match. The way I see it is if the L glass and 5D4 were and still are being used by the pros, it's good enough for this amateur. I have used the 5D4 before and loved it. And no, I'm not missing the flippy screen on my 6D2. If I find the need, I'll use the Canon Connect app as my display.

This camera is awesome! Totally exceeded my expectations. The image quality is amazing, and the video quality is better than any camera I've ever used. It's nice that it is touch screen. One thing I was surprised about is that you can set it to keep taking pictures so that you could set up a tripod and be in some photos. This is the only camera I know of that you can set how many and how often you want it to take pictures. (I set it for every 3 seconds it takes a photo up to 30 photos. Extremely helpful while capturing our Christmas card photos with dogs!) Also, Connor at the Niagara Falls Blvd location was extremely helpful. He wasn't even in the camera section but he came over and helped. He is knowledgable and I was thankful he was there to answer questions.
