This camera grabs great detail from landscapes. The huge number of pixels may slow your computer somewhat when you process the images, but the camera itself operates beautifully. The camera feels like the 5D mark II. Controls are similar but not the same. The autofocus offers 64 points of focus. It doesn't have the iso range of some cameras, but in the range of this camera it gets good images with minimal noise.

I love this camera! I returned the 5DVI to get this camera again because of the quality is so much better on the 5DSR. There's a lot you can do with 50mega pixels:
(1) it's like having an extra lens because you can crop very tight and still have a perfect image. I shot sports a lot and my clients always ask how do I get tight shots. This is my secret.
(2) More editing power! the ISO on this camera is low, but not really. Because there's so much detail, you can pull so much detail from shadows it's amazing. Very low noise and if there's some, when you increase the luminance or any noise tricks...it's changing very tiny pixels compared to bigger chunks.
(3) Down sampling improves picture quality. It's the same logic of video ppl recording in 4K to downsample to 1080p.
Negatives:
(1) 5fps is slow...I wish it was at least 7fps.
(2) 50mp means every file is at least 50mb. That's a lot of data, so get a fast CF card.
(3) Video is cool, but I wish there was at least 60fps for 1080p.
Final thoughts:
If you're a photographer who likes to print, wants the best quality from a DSLR, and loves Canon...this is for you! Get the sigma 50 art!

I've had it for a week, and it is everything that I was expecting. Instead of using Macbeth Color charts or other measurement tools, I just took it into the field and shot landscapes and scenics (what I do). It is incredibly sharp and detailed. I photographed some flowers without a macro lens and cropped them. Beautifully detailed images. I have the 5DSR, and I do not see any moire patterns. I tested some low light pictures, and I did see some noise in the shadows like other Canon cameras. However, I HDR'd the same images and created stunning files. Shooting at f22, I experienced the same type of diffraction as with any camera. So, the optimum apertures are still in the f8 to f11 areas. I only shoot raw, so I cannot say how it handles jpegs. I processed my images in Lightroom CC. Because of the image sizes, I noticed a very slight slow down in processing but nothing inconvenient. I used both Photomatix and Lightroom CC to process HDR. The processing time was slower but not intolerable. Overall, I have the same thrill of when I went from 35mm to 2 1/4 back in the film days. This is a bigger jump. I have a 5D Mark II. I would say this camera is equivalent to going from a 2 1/4 to a 4X5. You have the flexibility of shooting handheld. I am excited that Canon made this move...

This camera is a huge upgrade from the 5D III, not just in the number of pixels, but in the features and image quality. At ISO 100 it is the ultimate landscape and nature camera. I have used it for bald eagles in flight and landscapes in the Rockies and it is stellar for both. At 4.5 frames per second it won't replace my 1DX for birds in flight, but as a second camera with a short lens on, it will replace my 7D II. The pixel density is the same, and I am less likely to cut off wings with full frame vs 1.6X crop.
Love this camera...it is a keeper

The photos are sharp and great color. Even with highest resolution, this camera is fast - was able to see spider web along with eyes of a fast-moving hummingbird. Only disappointment is that a number of my lens (even L lens) will not work with the 5ds r (but they still work on my 5d mark iii). Still learning new features. My main camera is now the 5ds r with the mark iii as my backup,

What I was wondering when the 5DSR was introduced was whether or not there is a noticeable improvement in sharpness and contrast when its images are downrezzed to smaller sizes versus the 6D. So far, I would have to say yes to that though I may have a more nuanced opinion many months from now. I've not been one to do many large prints, but this resolution monster may change that. At the risk of sounding like a unrepentant fanboy of a particular camera manufacturer, nonetheless here it is anyway: outstanding work, Canon!

Performance and megapixel rating beats even some medium format cameras, without the extra weight. Learning curve is reduced if you are used to the Canon menus from their other DSLR's. I only owned it for one month so far and so far no complaints.

The pictures come out crystal clear. So clear you can see people's pores! Very sharp. Was able to take pictures of waves crashing on rocks at Newport Rhode Island. Along with splashing oil in a pot. And it became an abstract piece.

Unlike the 5DM3 or other Canon full-frame DSLRs, this camera requires a bit more time setting up your shot and taking some care to avoid camera shake. Primarily that means shooting at higher shutter speeds and using a tripod to ensure stability when shooting. When you know what you are doing, however, the image quality that can be captured is impressive and resembles medium format output.

Bought the camera for an upcoming trip to Alaska. I bought this camera to replace my 5DM3. The two cameras are very similar with the new camera going to the next level in image size and clarity. The Quick Control button is great, making it faster and easier to change camera settings. The Scene Intelligent Auto setting is interesting and looks to create a simple shot taking program that handles all functions except pushing the shutter-release button. I will update this review after my Alaska trip.

I love the image quality, it's what all full sensor cameras should have. It seems a bit slow to do continuous shots but with the right memory it seems ok.
My only gripe is with me, not having the latest software & hardware to process new canon raw format.

The quality on this camera is simply amazing and it gives you the ability to crop down a ton without sacrificing much.
One downside I see are the file sizes, at RAW you're looking at around 55-70mb per file, so about 50 photos for a 4gb card..
