Customers value the EOS 60D DSLR Camera's excellent image quality, ease of use, and the convenient LCD screen. Many appreciate the camera's features and generally good battery life, while some find the autofocus slow and the camera somewhat heavy. 3 years ago my Canon 20D got the dreaded err99 and I haven't had a DSLR since. I have been desperately wanting to get back into my photography, and after going to Best Buy and trying a few out, the 60D came with the same familiarity of my 20D, but with some awesome upgrades. I absolutely love how my photos come out, and the swiveling preview screen really makes such an incredible difference for some of the more difficult angles. I am beyond pleased with this purchase and highly recommend to anyone in the photography world!

I love this camera, I just bought a second 60d to use with a wide angle lens, I keep a 100-400 lens on the other camera. The lens on this camera is an ok lens, good for walk aroung lens.

The Vari angle LCD makes it easy to take a photograph at odd angles and knowing what is in the view finder. With my old camera I would just shoot and hope I had the right composition.
The lens has such latitude that I can use it in in many situations.

I looked and looked and for the price I couldn't beat it. It was way better the rebel models I felt. The build quality was much better as well. Great for beginners as well since its simple to learn.

Outstanding Canon DSLR

The Canon 60D is loaded with features, is compact, feels great in my hands, and overall is just pretty much everything you would ask for in a DSLR.
The built in electronic level is just a must in any shooting situation, I have used it lots so I will say its very useful, the shutter is much better than those of the Rebel series cameras, sounds better too. The button layout is great and feels professional.
Picture quality is sharp and has amazing colors, shoots wonderful pictures with lots of different setting to adjust how your picture turns out. The Camera has 9 AF Points, all cross type which is something you won't find in any of the Rebel series cameras (only 1 cross type).
The swivel screen is very good for shooting video, and for general purpose photography to get to those hard to get to angles. Also is good for storage, filliping the screen towards the camera helps prevent scratches.
Full HD Video shooting is beyond great, it's super sharp but you'll need a SDHC card that can write 20 MB/s or higher (preferably higher for longer videos).
The 18-135mm kit lens is a decent lens for all around shooting, the focus is quick and pretty quiet, and background blur effect in portrat's is great.
Overall, this camera is excellent in lots of ways and is an awesome camera for intermediate or professional photographers. A must for people interested in photography, its definitely worth the price!

This is my first DSLR and I'm very happy with my choice. I have a Canon PowerShot A610 and Canon SX10IS, both with articulating screens, and this was a feature that I definitely wanted in my first DSLR. I wanted a camera that was a step up from the entry level Rebels without spending a lot of money. The pictures are fabulous. The SX10IS gets noticeable noise at and above ISO 400, but the 60D can go far beyond that. I LOVE the grip on this camera. It feels very secure in my hand. I've always loved cameras that had a little chunk on the right side to hold onto, and this camera has the best one I've owned so far. I have neck problems and HATE the weight of a camera on my neck and purchased a wide strap Canon camcorder wrist strap for the camera. I'm also using this same model wrist strap on the SX10IS. When I use the articulating screen, I prefer to use it straight out where I can adjust it to any angle I want versus straight up against the back of the camera. I find that a neck strap interferes with this type of use of the articulating screen - another reason why I love the wide wrist strap mounted on the right side. I'm right handed and the screen pulls out to the left, so wrist strap on the right works perfectly for me. This camera is heavier than the SX10IS, so I was worried about carrying the weight of the camera in my hand for any length of time with the wrist strap. But the solution I use on the SX10IS works equally well on the 60D despite the extra weight - I raise my arm and rest the camera on my shoulder with the lens pointing upward. I was worried about battery life on a proprietary battery as all of my previous cameras have taken AA batteries that are easy to find in a crunch, but I've read great things about the battery life on this camera and I have not been at all disappointed. The shutter is a little noisy compared to what I'm used to, but I'm getting used to it. A lot of the controls are on the camera body, eliminating the need to have to go to the menu system constantly to change settings. I love the LCD screen on top that shows the camera's current settings and allows me to see changes I'm making on the fly. I've already used the night light button in my back yard at night when shooting my first night time moon shot on a tripod and it allowed me to easily see the camera's settings and make changes quickly in the dark.

Best DSLR Camera I Have Ever Owned!

I stepped up to this Canon DSLR Camera because I heard a-lot of great reviews on it from family and friends... I must say, "it is the BEST DSLR camera I have ever owned"... The pictures are vivid and amazing quality when shooting outdoors and you hardly notice any digital noise (graininess) when shooting in low light conditions... The Main reason I love this camera, is the swivel High Resolution LCD screen so you can shoot photo's from any angle... The 1920/1080p HD video is very impressive on a Digital SLR Camera and is very compatible to that of a High Definition camcorder... Another great thing about this camera, is the very long lasting Lithium-Ion Battery which can take up to approximately 900 photo's on a full charge when using the on board flash...
The EF-S18-135mm image-stabilized lens that is included with the camera is a very good lens for shooting portraits close-up, or, at medium range... I also purchased a "Canon - 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens" on sale for $499.99... It is a GREAT lens with great colors and crisp detail and is a must for the photographer who wants superb photographs...
Canon also really put a-lot of extra's and features into this great camera and i've been very impressed with everything about it and look forward to staying a Canon customer for a very long time!!!
Thank You Canon!!!
The two supplied images are photo's I shot with the Canon EOS 60D late at night...

i went from a Rebel to this camera and super happy. i was worried it would be a lot heavier but the weight is perfect. the body is constructed well. the provided lens is a great all around one. pick up a prime lens too if you can swing it. i got the 50mm f/1.4 in addition to the kit. battery life is outstanding, something like 1000 shots between charges. i went back and forth between this and the 7D and the deciding factor was this came with an 18-135mm instead of the 28-135mm and was cheaper. the 7D has more focus points which would be nice but 9 does the job.
the video i havent quite figured out yet. im still learning that. it seems to auto stop after 30secs or so.
get yourself a large SD card, i started with 8gb and quickly realized i would need something larger. i have 16gb now.

I was upgrading from the Canon XSi. The focusing, low light photos, and so much more have greatly improved for me!!
I was in the market for the Canon 7D, but my local camera shop said for my business needs, it was a waste of an extra $400-500 dollars. The 5.3 FPS are faster than I need. The full 1080p video is just awesome.
I have yet to find a negative with this camera. The only bad point was with the store personal and not the camera.
***the uploaded pictures are reduced for this review. they are unedited and straight out of camera. These photos are very crisp, better than they look here***
You will not be disappointed with this camera!!

I bought this camera as an upgrade from a Canon SX20IS, i was going to get a T3I but for a couple hundred bucks more i thought this was the better deal, I love this camera!!, you get the feel of a Pro camera, the functions of a Pro camera, and the images are astounding. A lot of flexibility too, it will hold the heavy lenses better than a smaller frame DSLR due to its composite / metal housing, the 18-135mm kit lens is actually a great versatile lens, i bought the 70-300mmIS-USM lens as well,it is a bit complicated at first as there are many features this camera has.I took mine to europe on vacation and got so many compliments on the pictures i took , i was really glad i made the choice, the flip out view screen is very useful when shooting video and tripod use. I highly recommend this camera as an upgrade from a Rebel series or equivalent camera

Exterior buttons and controls: Greater ease and control of changing camera settings . The 60D has nearly every control one needs on the exterior of the camera and it has the rear dial and top LCD display screen. Any other controls can be easily accessed with the Q button and menu or in the other menus on the rear LCD monitor. The top buttons of the 60D set only one setting each, so this is less complicated than the multiple-setting buttons of the 7D. Canon has removed the WB button that the 7D and 50D have, but that isn't a big deal - use the Q Menu. Another change is that the Multi-controller has been moved from the thumb joystick like the 7D and 50D and placed in the middle of the rear Quick-control dial. This doesn't change how it functions, and should just be a matter of getting used to the difference.
-Menus and custom functions: Greater control over customizing how the camera functions vs. the T2i. The 60D has many more Menu and Custom Function settings than the T2i and nearly as many as the 7D. These settings allow you to customize the operation, function, and controls of the 60D to work how you want them to, including things like exposure increments, peripheral illuminations correction for lenses (fixes dark corners) and customizing which button does what.

This is my 3rd Canon D-SLR. This is just a great camera for someone who is above an amerture, but not a pro or someone that doesn't have "pro money". The battery life is great as I tool almost 1000 pixs before I needed to re-charge the battery. Takes great pixs, and with included software able to do wonderful things with pixs taken in the RAW mode

Let me start by saying I wish I had waited just a few more weeks to purchase this. I paid the full price for it and I could have saved $300. I love Canon and upgraded from a T3 to this 60D. I am pleased with it. It takes great photos and is easy to navigate the features.
I don't really use it for taking video, but I did try that feature out and was not pleased with it. The camera had trouble staying focused in video mode and it was very noisy.

This is a very high level camera. I didn't realize what I did not know about cameras until I bought this one. It takes great pictures and when I learn how to use it, it will take excellent pictures! For the price of this camera, it should have come with a class on how to use it!!!

This is my first foray into DSLR (or any SLR, for that matter). For years we did the point-and-shoot thing and a couple of years ago moved up to a Canon Powershot S3 intermediate. As I got comfortable with that camera and realized this was more than a passing fad for me, I researched DSLRs (I know a few photogs that had some great advice), the differences between APS-C and full frame bodies, and the features, and I landed on the 60D for my budget and wish list. Specifically, I wanted the faster shutter speed and continuous shot rate over the Rebel models. And full-frame was going to price me out of my budget. I also researched comparable Nikon models, and the 60D was physically more comfortable to hold (if you're shopping for a new camera, definitely go to a store and get one in your hands before you buy!). Image quality is fantastic, but not sure I'm a subjective source since I'm new to DSLR. There are a few features I'm still learning how to set on the camera that are not always intuitive to figure out (e.g., some functions like JPEG resolution set on the back dial next to the LCD, some like RAW resolution are set with the finger dial by the shutter button), but the manual has thus far helped me figure those things out. I purchased the package with the 18 - 135 mm lens, very happy so far. Had it for about a month and a half, probably taken around 1,000 pics.
