I bought this camera which was sold as new, but was very disappointed to have discovered later that it was an ex-display camera and by then it was late to return it as i have travelled with it to London England. I am so disappointed with my purchase that i have not use the camera since i bought it.

Great Upgrade

I upgraded from at T2i and debated either going to the T5i or spend the extra on a 70D. I don't regret getting the 70D at all. For myself, the image quality between the T2i and 70D are almost similar with a slight edge to the 70D, but the video quality is far beyond what you can expect from any DSLR in this price range. The T5i video isn't even close to the 70D. There was a huge deal made about the dual pixel auto focus system and I now see the reason why. Other options that are huge pluses are the 7fps burst rate, articulating LCD Screen with touch, and the built-in wifi. I can now take pics with the 70D on the move, transfer pics to my phone wirelessly, and share it. You can also share online straight from the 70D but have not played with that yet so can't comment. Overall, if your upgrading from a previous rebel, the 70D is a great option if you don't want to go full-frame. Most average photographers aren't professional (like me) but want the best you can afford. What matters most are the memories you can capture and hold onto. There are other lower-priced Canons but don't have the video capabilities that the 70D has. If you are strictly only into photo's, there are other options. If you think video could come into play for you and you don't want to deal with a camcorder, definitely go for the 70D.

BEST AMATEUR CAMERA EVAR!

This is an amazing camera! The lens is a sweet deal that goes with it, too!
I upgraded from having a t2i, which was my first DSLR. I love the way Canon processors color the images, and the feel of the buttons and menu are quickly intuitive.
But what made me love this more:
FPS is fast enough for my action shots.
ISO at 3200 are now usable compared to the barely useable 1600 ISO on my t2i.
The Dual-Pixel CMOS sensor (for the focus points) help for much quicker and sharper focus.
The 1 Custom button is helpful for settings I know that are tried and true for me as a second Manual mode.
The video recording is smoother than the t2i.
The tilt-screen is super helpful for different perspectives in stills and videos.
The touch screen is responsive and easy to use, especially in video recordings, without much focus hunting.
The silent burst helps in church and quiet settings.
The LED is bright and clear.
The Wi-Fi, though clunky, puts my Eye-Fi to rest, and the EOS Camera App for iOS is fun to use, both with my iPhone 4s and my iPad Air.
The IS STM lens' focal length is perfect for generally everything that I do, even better that it's a Silent Motor! (It's like having the professional quickness and silence of an L lens, with usable contrast and image quality and way less of the price!)
Can you tell? I love this camera. The 7D, 7DII (to come out soon) 5DIII, and 6D are all great cameras, but this is good for me, who's an amateur just wanting to take some great pics with more control. And it has some of the best features!
Additional note:
This camera is so good, I almost threw away a lens because I thought it was faulty, but putting it on this body, it made it perfect! With less hunting and better contrast during focusing, it made my super cheapo f2.8 lens my favorite all over again!

I bought this camera for my business (and also use for personal use). I had upgraded from the EOS Rebel lineup to this one and the transition was smooth. I love Canon and their superb cameras, all of their products are beyond expectations for me. I've had this camera for almost 2 months now and yet to find a flaw. The picture quality is phenomenal, battery life goes beyond what I expected, the touch screen is super easy to use, and the WiFi feature is pretty cool. I have an Android smartphone and downloaded an app called "EOS Remote" from Canon which turns my phone into a wireless remote for my camera. Not only can I control my shutter release and other functions, I can view the pictures that are on my memory card. I guess my only complaint could be the delay time between the wireless app and camera when using as a shutter release, but it really isn't that bad at roughly 1-2 seconds. I would highly recommend this camera.

Greatly improved camera, still weak on audio

I have been using a 60D for the past two years with good results. I've produced four feature-length documentaries with it, one won two awards. Although the 60D is capable of great pictures, I'm using it to shoot "video" and that makes it more difficult. Focus has been a huge headache. Sound is very tricky. The 70D cures the focus problem almost completely. Best and fastest auto focus I've seen in any camera. It's amazing, and it uses a servo to continuously auto-focus while you're shooting video. The package with the 18-135mm lens -- the new update of this lens is smoother, faster focusing and quieter than the old one. Highly recommend it. Sound is another issue. While improved, they leave out vital features.
The 70D also shoots in 24P mode for video so it looks like film. However, it is a huge blunder that on a camera in this price range to not have a headphone jack -- one of the most essential and basic items when shooting live pictures. You can have all the best, sharpest pictures in the world, but if you can't tell what sound is going in your camera, then you have a big problem. This is why cameras like the Sony A7 (Sony has long been a leader in professional video cameras) have a headphone jack since it's such a necessary thing. Canon has to realize that such an omission is a huge and almost amateurish oversight and hurts this camera's ability to shoot live action and simply know you've got sound other than just seeing meters wiggling. We're not talking about a $300 camcorder there. This camera package costs upwards of $1,500 with the lens, and should have a headphone jack and headphone amplifier with a simple MANUAL volume control (not touchscreen). I'm not asking for much here. Just try making a film without knowing what your camera is hearing, and you'll feel the same flush of uncertainty that I do when shooting with this camera, even though I love every other aspect of it. One new feature is the ability to see your audio VU meters supered over the picture in the viewfinder. Finally. This has long been a feature on camcorders but not on DSLRs. It is, however, only available in Manual mode, and the meters are very tiny. At least we have them, and for that I am grateful.
The 70D has an articulated viewfinder that has a touchscreen that works as well as what you'd find on an iPhone. It has a new mirror lock-up mode which I like. You can use the touchscreen as well to change the ISO or the auto-focus modes, even adjust the audio input level. Still, you can only shoot moving pictures while monitoring through the flip-open viewfinder, and in bright sun you're going to need a slip-on sunshade or you will have trouble seeing anything of what you're shooting. I wish there was a way to use the excellent eyepiece when shooting video, but the mirror gets in the way.
Another upgrade from the 60D, is that if you are monitoring your video through an HDTV while you're shooting, the 60D could only display your picture in 720 mode -- seriously degrading what the camera is seeing. The 70D has fixed that problem. You can also record up to 30 minutes at a time, instead of the maximum 12 minutes posed by the 60D.
Still image quality is beautiful. The extra pixels in the new 70D's chip are noticeable and make a difference. This camera has gobs of resolution and takes excellent pictures. It's compatible with the enormous line of Canon EF lenses, so that in itself really ups the ante over other cameras in this price range for the flexibility all these lenses offer -- and you can add lenses later on as your budget allows. The pricing of the 70D is still very competitive when looking at other manufacturers like Sony, which are at least $500 more, and cater to the Windows community instead of Mac people.
The 70D creates movie files in .mov format --- perfect for inputting into Final Cut Pro, which is what we use. There is no conversion process to go through -- no third-party conversion software that you'll need. It's ready to go. You will need a fast SD card since the resolution is greater and the speed of the card will affect your ability to capture HD video. I would recommend a card with no less than 45MBS and higher would be better.

The Canon 70D is the best camera I ever bought - hands down. I use it for my daughters soccer games and my sons basketball games and it takes amazing pictures and phenomenal videos. It is fast, has excellent focus, easy to use and is a great overall buy! I used to have a Canon t2i and this is such a feature packed upgrade and it eliminates all the quirks I had with the t2i. The wifi is easy to use and the built in scene modes make it easy to get the camera setup for the matching conditions. Couple that with the 19 point focus, speedy shutter and you are armed with a worldclass camera and video Digital SLR! Highly recommended!

Stepped up from my old T1i to this... Amazing pictures and speed. Wow!
A bit of a learning curve for an amature, but it sure is fun learning!
Touch screen feature is great and I love how it folds back for protection. Many easy settings on camera to help you as you learn. The 18-135mm lens is a must... it has enough zoom to not have to change the lens as often when taking pics of kids sporting events.

Great camera - I'm having a lot of fun with it. The automatic settings are great and so far it has been easy to use. I haven't gotten into the manual settings much yet, but the book that comes with the camera seems pretty clear so I don't anticipate having difficulty learning. I bought a bigger zoom lens (more zoom, if you will) and it's great. The pictures of the hummingbirds and such are great. If I had to say anything remotely negative, I'd say that I wish the camera was a little lighter.

Great Upgrade from a Rebel

After utilizing my trusty Rebel t3i for nearly 2 years, I was ready to step up to a dslr that was a little more substantial. The 70D seemed by all the reviews to be exactly what I was looking for.
After having the camera for around 2 months, I've come to love this camera, and have found multiple features quite useful:
1. It (like the t3i) has the flip out screen, which is awesome for changing perspectives while shooting.
2. The video focusing system is superb; I've never experienced a dslr that shot such quality video.
3. It seems to consistently take a great shot, even when I don't have the settings perfect.
However, there are a few small items that I wish were different:
1. The lack of a second card slot means you cannot back up shots. A slight negative.
2. This particular kit lens, which of superior quality, adds a little extra heft to the overall setup. On days where I'm carrying the 70D around, I tend to switch to a 50 to save some weight.
3. You cannot shoot video with wifi on and it takes multiple steps to turn it off. Canon should have made this an easy setting to change.
Overall, this is one of the best crop dslrs that Canon has made, and I definitely have been happy with my purchase.

I upgraded to the Canon 70D from the Canon T3i. I'm a hobbyist who loves taking pictures of family, friends, vacations, and pets. The T3i was an excellent starter DSLR and I took thousands of pictures with it. The 70 is better! First the LCD screen on the top of the camera tells me all my settings with a quick glance. The touch screen is much more helpful than I ever thought it would be! It makes it easy to change camera settings quickly. The STM lenses are quiet, focus quickly and produce excellent photos. The autofocus is amazing it's quick and percise, no more hunt and peck! Because of all the additional focus points, it does take some getting used to .. but wow. The the video is outstanding, the autofocus in video mode is almost as fast as a video camera! Best Buy matched the deal from a big camera store, so I picked up 55-250STM in the package, got a SD card and camera bag in the package. I'm no pro photographer, but I'm shooting raw now, and getting outstanding pictures .. Couldn't be happier!
Tried to upload photos but the site kept timing out!

I have always dabbled and liked photography, but this camera has allowed me to LOVE photography. This camera is well worth every penny. Once you get above a certain price point you start getting the premium sensor in a camera and this one is fantastic. No complaints what so ever. I recommend you get two lenses with this, they price matched another store for me, I also got an extra battery, and the power pack that goes on the bottom of the camera that allows you to run two batteries instead of one it lasts longer. Last but least shoot pictures of everything, delete the bad ones!! This is awesome!

I own the old Canon 7D which is a mid-professional camera. I got this 70D camera as a gift and it is great. Make sure to get the IS STM lenses if you plan on using the video feature. If you don't have them you will hear the sound in your video when the camera focus. This camera has many features. Love it... You can't go wrong with this camera.

I bought this camera and immediately sold the Included 18-135mm lens because the quality isn't the best. I use all of my L series lenses and they produce sharp, vivid images with the 70D body. This body is on the semi-professional side as I have it as a backup for my Canon 5D Mark III at weddings. I highly recommend this for portraits and as a backup to more expensive cameras.

Never had a DSLR camera before. After much research. Via YouTube reviews and Google. I finally pick this model. I've been wanting this camera for alil' over a year and a half. Finally purchased it! The most daunting part, being that this is my first DSLR camera is that there's still so much to learn as far as features go. But that's part of the fun I guess. I am completely happy with this camera thus far. It's a dream. Something that isn't mentioned is that the LED screen is touchscreen. Not that it's necessary, but I had hoped for and was very happily pleased about.
