Great pictures, small size and some drawbacks

I purchased this as a ‘pocketable’ camera for those situations when it’s just too inconvenient to carry a DSLR. The plus side for this camera is the large sensor size in the small body. The first pictures showed sharp details that were markedly different from what you would expect in a device this small. The most glaring problem comes from the fact that there is no viewfinder and the screen can be hard to see outdoors. So some shots were incorrectly focused on the wrong subject or were proorly framed. Practice on my part may help. Also, the buffering time between shots is very long, so don’t expect to do rapid fire. Last thing, you cannot ‘force fire’ the flash to fill in shadows because that option isn’t included. In conclusion, if extreme portability is your main issue, go for it. But you may want to get the M6 instead.

I purchased this item along with some other items about $1,000 worth in one purchase excluding my other business account purchases countless amounts of them and I purchased this camera for our company we were charged for it to the card however never received our card and on top of that received a defective unit the lens does not function properly so now I have to take it back up there as well as finding out that the price dropped another $125 in store and they did not mention anything about that to us. Now they're statement states that you have to get a price adjustment within a week that's ridiculous did they expect me to keep an eye on that and watch it once my order came in? No no, unfortunately but luckily in a way we did pay for the Geek Squad protection plan but I'm sure it's going to be a process and I need to get that extra $150 back that the price dropped a day or two after I bought it. Very disappointed in it itself it is not as described what they leave out is that yes you can shoot at half of 4K at 60 frames per second but only for 10 minutes tops. Compared to my 5D it's amazing to have such a small camera but unfortunately because of this little lens problem I'm getting an error stating lens error please power off Andre power on so I haven't been able to see how it is yet but the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth nothing special the app is horrible you cannot use the video through the app there's no eyelet on the camera. Unfortunately my co-owner Javier purchased before confiding in me and we found out there was a 30% restocking fee to return it which is ridiculous I will never order anything from Best Buy again unless I have two from now on I'm staying with Amazon and even my Amazon business Prime account bugs me sometimes but I have never had issues like this especially when it comes to customer service.

    Excellent for Entry Level

Just purchased this along with the Canon Lens Mount Adapter for $550 which is an amazing deal. Mainly purchased this for my wife since I already have a Canon DSLR and several lens. This allows my wife to quickly switch in and out of my existing lens thus saving more $$$. It doesn't have a viewfinder, but this isn't a problem since the LCD screen is perfect. The cameras out there in this price range with a viewfinder usually limits the LCD screen from tilting 180 degrees for selfie mode. So this was a good trade off as this device can. The best feature is the ability to print directly to my Canon printer, transfer to my iPhone, or save to the cloud. Image stabilization is lacking on the camera itself, but the lens contains it. Also my extra Canon EF lens all come with Image stabilization so this isn't a problem at all. We mainly chose this because the size (20% smaller than the Sony A6000, A6300, and Olympus EM10 Mark II). The size, price, and compatibility with my existing Canon lens made this well worth the money.

I bought this camera to have a lightweight camera for outdoor activities (hiking, biking) and its been very good. Sharp images with great color renditions. 99% of the time I don't miss shooting in manual modes, but if I want to do that I've got other gear. Great RAW capability for those who know how to use it. It comes with a 15-45mm kit lens, but I purchased a 22mm f2 lens right away and mostly use it instead. Two comments to make though. 1) The lenses sometimes hunt for focus for a long time in low light, low contrast situations. Also, the buttons (especially the wifi connection button) are too easily pushed by accident, making the camera turn on in unintended circumstances.

Way easier to use and portable than a Canon DSLR

Not only is it great since it's a mirrorless camera but of all of Canon's Mirrorless Camera's this is my favorite for the simplicity and size of it's design. It feels like a compact camera but gets me the quality of a DSLR shooting raw. Granted, if you want to carry this camera around everywhere, I would get a pancake lens to make it even more portable. But overall it so much easier to carry around than my DSLR. I also love the touch controls. They aren't for everybody but being able to tell the camera what to focus on makes life so much easier. I take professional photos with a DSLR but for personal events, this camera takes photos of almost similar quality for a fraction of the cost/effort. That being said, I do want to remind others that you still need to process RAW images, if you aren't willing to edit photos, you are better off with a point and shoot.

This camera is great for the price. Real easy to use, good for videos as well. Having the screen flip is great for vlogging and it's also touch screen!

Was deciding between the M100 and the Sony rx100, and glad I chose this. The full APS-C sensor was too good to pass up, and proved well worth it in the pictures. It doesn’t have the flexibility of a full DSLR, but that’s not really what it is meant for. I’d call it the best sub-$500 point and shoot camera for someone looking for a significant difference from their smartphone.

    Practical camera for short travels

I wanted a smaller and lighter mirrorless DSLR to take on short travel trips instead of my full frame DLSR and decided on the Canon EOS M100, although there are better (or worse) mirrorless cameras in this particular size. While there are short comings to this EOS M100, such as no electronic viewfinder, the use of the tilt up display works well for me. I like the interchangeable lens feature as oppose to the Canon Powershot models (which are fixed lens cameras). I can put camera with the 15-45 3.5 zoom lens in my coat or sweatshirt pockets, perfect for my upcoming overnight trip to Washington state. One of the features that is missing is the ability to blur (bokeh) the background for portrait shots, at least I haven't figure out if that is possible. The self portrait (Selfie) feature is useful and image is better than a selfie on my smartphone. There are other features included that are found on my Canon 80D that I like, but, probably will not use except for the Portrait or Landscape modes. The cost of the camera with 15-45 lens was comparable to higher priced fixed lens cameras, probably because Canon will eventually discontinue this model in favor of the newer M50. I was not looking for a small mirrorless camera with all the features of a full frame DSLR and the M100 fits my needs. M100 may not feed the needs of other photographers, but, if you are a beginner or on the intermediate level, the M100 is good, practicable camera and it cost less than $400.

This is an opinion for an absolute beginner. You can use it in auto mode just as any point and shoot camera and obtain results that you can never imagine in such a tiny body and price range. My only complaint is the low light performance but I need to try the 22m fixed lens. English is not my native language so my apologies if the idea is not so clear.

Purchased this camera before a trip to Europe and Africa and it was great. Lighter and smaller than traditional DSLRs. Only issue is that most lens don't work for this camera - you have to buy a converter.
