Great overall camera. Recently purchased this with the kit lens and happy to say that I am very satisfied with my purchase. I went ahead and switched over to mirrorles for a smaller size and portability. I have also paired it with a prime lens and can honestly say that this little guy packs a punch. My only concern with this camera was the it’s battery life but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to live with.

I spent a long time trying to pick the best beginner camera that had great specs, was easy to learn and use, and overall would take amazing quality photos. That is this camera! I’ve already used it for several graduate photo shoots as I begin my photography business, and it has not disappointed at all. Additionally, purchasing it through Best Buy was great as I got the best price on protection in the event that something does go wrong with the device. I really am glad I went with this camera and I highly recommend it! It’s on the lower end in the standard price range for professional cameras, but it truly delivers on all things that matter to a starting photographer. Highly recommend!

The is an excellent camera for the hobbiest who wants to take beautiful photos. It’s small for its power, it takes really nice high quality photos, and has been perfect for our outdoor adventures where I want a photo option that won’t also kill my line of communication. I did purchase an extra battery as they life isn’t great if you forget to power the camera off between sessions of photos.

Bought this to replace an older Canon DSLR. Love the comact body and smaller lenses, which makes it much easier to lug half way around the world. I like the fact that it has an old-school (though still digital) viewfinder. The flip digital screen was a great improvement over my old camera. The large ISO range is nice, too... got some great shots of the Milky Way. Battery life can be a little short, so definitely have some spares. Overall, very happy with the purchase!

I love this Mirrorless Canon camera so much. The quality of the photos are great. It’s user friendly and small/lightweight to take with you to travel. This is a great starter camera. I did learn that Canon stopped making bigger lens for specifically M50s but that isn’t too big of a deal if you’re a beginner and you can buy an adapter if you want bigger lens down the road.

No longer powers on after 3 years of use.

Well, I have had this camera for 3 years now, and up to now I would have given this camera a 5 star review but unfortunately my camera will no longer power on as of yesterday. I am taking it to Best Buy tomorrow to have it serviced, but, if it costs me 100’s of dollars to repair it, I am just going to purchase a whole new camera. I was looking into the EOS Canon R50. It’s basically the upgrade from the M50. Also, it is unfortunate that the EOS ef-M mount has been discontinued so my ef-m mount lenses are irrelevant if this thing is a goner.

This is everything I was looking for! I’m no pro, but the quality is amazing, the screen flips which makes it really easy to record videos yourself or vlog. Also, it’s nice and small so it’s easy to hold and travel with!

I bought this camera to replace a Canon Rebel. I like that is compact and not as bulky. I’ve been using it for personal use and do little photo shoots. Great little camera, love it!

FABULOUS CAMERA WITH LIMITED LENS CHOICES

This is my second Canon M50 Mark ll. It's an exceptional camera with its very fast DIGIC 8 processor and superior menu system of choices. It fits very well (in your hands) despite its smaller size. The build quality is evident quality (Made In Japan). Switches and controls are well thought out and I would change nothing in the body design. This is a great entry-level SLR but despite my other Canon larger SLR's, I use this to travel with or as a Grab-N-Go camera (I find the quality of cell phone photography equal to that of what was once called a Instamatic Camera). Battery life is just fair but the battery size warrants such. Carry an extra battery with you which is the size of a saltine cracker anyhow. Sometimes, there just has to be a negative and that comes with the M50 Mark ll in terms of Canon's sub-par alternative or expanded lens options. There are none... The included lens (15-45mm) is mostly low grade plastic and image quality isn't very good. I continue to watch Canon's website for a L-Series upgraded lens but it seems that Canon doesn't feel there is much of a market for a upgraded lens on this smaller SLR. There are other low grade choices but we all would prefer to use a 24-105mm L lens without having to add a adapter to this camera body. Still a great if not excellent choice for a lightweight, high performance camera at a very affordable price.

    Good "Beginner" Camera

I liked this camera quite a lot, I had to exchanged it because of a "hot pixel" defect in the sensor, but I kind of miss it. I used it mainly for video, but it has very good image quality in both 1080 and 4K, and if you add an adapter to use EF/EFS lens you got really great image quality. The kit EF-M lens worked well though, overall it's a nice, light weight package, for a beginner... I ended up exchanging mine for a Canon R7 because I wanted more Pro grade functions

I love how it is so easily protable and has a nice strudy grip. But if you have large hands or really long nails this camera might be a bit too hard to hold for you with how close the hand grip is to the camera lens. The pictures are great quality but repare to invest in some addictional UV protectant lenses and a attatchable light to help keep the photos crisp and professional looking! I love how the camera helps guide and describe what each setting is as you click through it and is able to turn the guide off if you have learned what each setting does and want a quicker change in between the settings.
