It is an awesome camera in a small package. Tons of options/settings to configure for whatever you want to shoot. The kit lens is a good one for beginner photographers. In fact, this is a very good entry for getting into mirrorless cameras without having to go nearly double the price. The flip out screen is great so you can preview the shot if you're setting it up on a tripod for vlogging or the like. The downside is the battery life. Everything uses the battery. So while you can use the screen for preview, it eats battery life. And the stock battery will not last as long as you think it will. So getting a second or even 3rd battery will help out tremendously if you plan to take a lot of pictures.

The Canon m50 camera is great. But not a professional camera. Please do some research and know what to expect. For example, the m50’s 4K video has some deleterious characteristics. Or, lack thereof. The video-autofocus is weak (when focusing on any given focus point, the focus will jump passed where it should stop, then jumps back to bring the image in focus). It does not capture fast moving images well enough to record video worthy enough for modern YouTube productions. Also, the image captures less content in the frame when in 4K video. That being said, it is crystal clear in the right conditions. But I did not buy this camera for the 4K.
It’s smooth and sleek. Maybe a bit small to hold all day but incredibly compact for the features it offers its user, and will be great for me since I am always outdoors. Traveling around will be a breeze.
I did buy it for video, though the photos are stunning. The 1080p video resolution is where this camera really shines, functionally. If you are not a professional, understand video resolutions and know if 1080p is enough for you. If you’re a professional, this camera is not for you. The autofocus in 1080p is crisp and quick, it captures moving images, and allows for more content in each frame.
At this price, this camera is fantastic. Understand that Canon has a product line. They will intentionally limit products and create a “quality line” of products, each step being better and more functional. The m50 is a relatively cheap camera, and a great deal for the price if you don’t want to use 4K video, or if you are on an amateur, beginner, or even intermediate level photographer.
I’ll be using it for nature photography and videography. Because I am not a professional (yet), the 1080p video is a treat.
I recommend it, if you know what to expect.

This is my 2nd camera (next to my 5d mark 4), I wanted a camera that gives me amazing photos without all the bulk. I tried a couple of the Sony cameras and thought their images were washed out and not as sharp as I wanted. I researched this gem and watched YouTube videos- this was the one for me. I went into the store and once it was in my hands it just felt right. I loved the dials. I loved the options this thing has. I ordered the better lens option- I took this on vacation and was able to effortlessly send the images to my iPhone for immediate sharing. This camera also has a smaller lossless compressed raw file option! The screen tilts. It has a super fun and easy to access double exposure option. You can be full manual or full auto. Keep the guide handy because this powerhouse has a lot to learn even for experienced shooters, that are more about learning this particular system. Such as, I couldn’t get my pop up flash to fire no matter what I did- but later learned it won’t flash on silent mode! So I had to change that and it fixed it. I recommend this camera to everyone!! The images are beautiful, colorful, tack sharp with great bokeh when used.

This camera is really really impressive. I own a Canon 5D mark III for my professional shots and work, and I bought the Canon EOS M50 for traveling and to take more artistic pictures. This camera is so good that I could even use it for my professional shots if I would need it to use it in case the other camera fails.
Super sharp and clean images, light weight and easy to carry anywhere. The only "con" about this camera is when using it on ISO 800 or above, the images can get a little bit noisy. But besides that this camera is a killer!

If you are looking for a compact camera for traveling, vlogging, portraits, and events, look no further! This Canon M50 can do it all. I love the image and video quality that it can produce. However, it is best for outdoor use only. At high ISO settings/low-light environment, you can notice noise issues. Regardless, it is well-rounded camera for any task.

Needed a new camera to use for YouTube content creation. I wanted something lightweight compact, external mic capable, great autofocus and flip out screen. This met all my requirements. 1080/60 is more than enough for my needs. Dual pixel autofocus is awesome!

this is my third camera i’ve had and it is by far my favorite!! it’s very small and lightweight, and the fact that it’s mirrorless is definitely my favorite feature. the shutter speed/ the amount of photos you can take in seconds definitely helps for moving objects, and the video quality is fantastic!!!

My first camera I ever purchased and still use it to this day. Portable and compact with a built-in flash. Decent kit lens. Very good build and feel and is something that would definitely get recommended if you're just starting out. It is on the smaller side, but still worth getting.

I wanted a camera that was light weight, easy to use, and bluetooth synced pictures to my device -- this camera exceeded the mark and more. I use this camera for family adventures, parties, and random days in-between. It captures great photos and was easy to use with the help of a few YouTube video.

I really am glad I replaced my older DSLR with this mirrorless M50. It is so light, and takes great pictures so far. When I want to keep the overall weight down I will us the kit lens 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3. this lens is crystal clear, but not good for shooting sports. I am using a couple other lenses for other things. a EF-S 17-35mm f 2.8 usm and a canon adaptor. this lens is fast as heck and does great for sporting shots. for people I have a EF 50mm f 1.8 stm and a viltrox speed booster. this combo is sooooooo fast that you cant go wrong. last for telephoto work I us a EF 70-300 f 4-5.6 II USM also with the viltrox speed booster. the camera does lack in battery life, so buy extra batteries. I bought 2 non-canon batteries and they have worked great. pair up the whole thing with a lighter backpack (since is all weighs less) and a tripod and you have a wonderful camera. I would highly recommend it for the shooter looking for a light camera that is really awesome to hold and shoot. the pictures come out wonderfull.

The absolute best mirrorless 4k for under $500

I have been a professional photographer for over 40 years and was looking for a smaller 4k mirrorless camera to carry around all the time. I absolutely love this camera. Shoots crisp, vibrant stills, has a simple to learn interface and absolutely rocks the 4k video.
Two caveats though:
1) if you plan on shooting video get one or two backup batteries, like all cameras this size, it's a battery hog in video mode.
2) if you plan to use your old ef and efs lenses buy the actual Canon lens adaptor. It is made from metal and is pricey but worth it. You can find cheap stuff online but the are made out of plastic. Do you really want put a 1000 dollar lens on one side and a 500 dollar camera on the other of a piece of plastic? I don't.
Bottom line, if you are looking at the Canon Rebel series, don't forget to look at this camera, I bet you go for the m50 instead.

I am new to photography and I got this after recommendations online. It's mirrorless so what you see in the viewfinder/screen is what you shoot. you can swap lenses to increase the versatility and it can shoot 4k/30fps video. because it's a beginners camera it has a lot of helpful built in tips to help you figure out what your doing (white balance, focal point, etc.), but once you have a handle you can turn off the hand holding. Also canon release a webcam software driver so you can use this as a webcam while working remote now. a great investment and I recommend if your looking for a good beginner camera.

I've used my phone (currently a Samsung S20) to make YouTube videos. And it does a good job. But this year, I decided to splurge and get a good camera. The difference is night and day. The color correction, the depth of field (even using the kit lens), the autofocus are by far superior to any phone. And there was another unexpected benefit. The glare on my glasses (something I've fought with for years) is barely a problem with the camera, as long as I have the studio lights high up.
The camera is very easy to use, and a lot of fun. It's just so much easier to use than my phone for shooting video. I would recommend, especially if you're a novice, to watch videos on YouTube on how to use the camera. There's plenty of them.
Have fun!

So I bought this in an emergency as I dropped and broke my Canon T7 and I needed a new camera and fast. For the price and abilities this mirrorless does awesome. It is small and lightweight, amazing amount of focal points, 4k video, decent low light photography for a APS-C sensor, and with canons EF-EF-M adapter I was able to still use all of my existing glass.
