Bought this as an amateur photographer and so far it has been great. It takes great photos and its easy to use. I love all the technology in it such as remote shooting and transferring photos wirelessly directly to my phone. The size makes it easy to take it with me wherever I go.
The only drawback is that photos haven't been as great in low light conditions. But again, I am an amateur so perhaps I need to learn tricks and I can't really say how it compares to other cameras.
Overall it's a great camera. Its not cheap in my opinion but definitely worth it. I wish I had more time to play with it!

Love this camera. Small and easy to use, great photographic definition. Small enough to be mounted on one of the smaller handheld gyros.

This camera does it all. If you're looking for a digital camera that is a step up from your point and shoot....the is the one! The image quality and ease of use are outstanding. We've had this camera for almost 2 years. My husband is a photographer, and loves this compact, quality camera. They have kits you can buy, so you can use any lenses you may have for larger cameras so you don't need to buy all new lenses to accommodate the smaller lens dimensions. It's small enough to just throw in your bag. Takes large, quality images. For a non-photographer with some basic camera skills its for you! Video quality is great too!

Great Vlogging Camera!

I needed an entry level vlogging camera and the M50 kept coming up in reviews as the best of it's type for the money. I've just started learning about digital tech (at 66, I'm old school) and this camera is making it easy. One of the criticisms of this camera is that it is not good in low light situations but that depends upon if you need it to be 'good' for commercial reasons. I don't! EVERYTHING else about this camera makes it the best value for exactly what I need - a lightweight, mirrorless (WITH a viewfinder!!) camera with excellent photo and video specs, a great kit lens, a side-oriented viewing screen that doesn't interfere with any other function of the camera, an external mic jack, enough valuable accessories to make up for anything that other reviewers have found lacking (they are comparing this camera to others that cost hundreds if not thousands more, which amplifies the value of this camera that much more!!), outrageously good auto-focus, and the perfect video specs allowing me to make high quality videos that I plan to turn into DVDs to sell as part of my presentations. I need 1080p60fps and this camera does that brilliantly! I love this camera!! I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what it's 'missing' (for someone who is/wants to be a professional vlogger) but you can find their reviews on line. It has everything that I need; lightweight, small profile, easy to navigate touch screen menus, with tutorials on the essentials right inside the camera, AND I can use my older Canon EF lenses on this camera with a reasonably priced adaptor. My only complaint is that every once in a while I need to eat and get some sleep! Otherwise, I'd be filming with this great camera 24 hours a day!!

I was never a fan of Mirrorless Camera, but one day I was looking at a camera with a $400 budget, I came across the A6000 sony used and it was right at the price range so I picked it up. I don't like to bye used items but I was going to get the geek squad protection plan in a few weeks. I loved that camera and the quality was something new to me, but it did overheat on me. I ended taking it back and ended up with the Canon Sx740. I used that camera it was good but....... It was not the same. The Sx740 because of my birthday I got it for $400 with the geek squad protection plan. I fall in love with the quality of a Mirrorless Camera and I needed to find a good deal, was not going back with a sony. I came across this camera close to 2 weeks now, and the price was at $699.99 little over my budget but I looked at the a6000 vs SX740 and I knew that this will be an investment for my youtube and for outside of that. I hope that this will be a start to the more high-end Mirrorless Camera, but you have to start somewhere. I was happy to have gotten this camera because I had no idea that this was an $899.99 Mirrorless Camera. I would have had no way of getting if I waited for a 1 more week. I know that there is hate about this camera and let me tell you for someone like me it's great so much that you can do to start off. If you are thinking of getting this do it!

Simple to use for the most part. Still a few features that I am not too familiar with; however, it isn't anything that can't be learned easily enough. I love the comfortability of the handle and the moveable screen the most. The only downfall for me is that it isn't a left-handed camera, but that is not a deal breaker for me. The picture quality is astounding. I used this camera on a recent trip to Puerto Rico, and the lens really captured the amazing brilliance of colors that the Puerto Rico landscape has to offer.

This is such an excellent camera in so many ways! If you are wanting to get into mirrorless, this is one of the best cameras to buy. You are getting SO much for your money. The camera shoots amazing pictures. I was concerned at first with the battery life from reviews, but I have had no issues whatsoever. This camera does have 4K video, but you lose autofocus. I can tell you though that the camera does have excellent 1080P recording with full auto-focus.
This also works as an excellent option for a webcam as well.

This is an excellent product that delivers exactly what is promised. I purchased this about a month ago and since then I’ve had rarely any problems with it whatsoever. The 4K 30 FPS capability makes it an amazing deal for filmmakers. It’s a good price/quality balance and can be used alongside many attachments/extensions to suit most needs whatever they may be. The standard HD can go up to 60 FPS which is perfect for slow motion shots. The 4K has a 1.7 crop on it which can be a bit disorienting at times but it’s something you learn to get used to after a short time using the camera. I’ve never personally been too huge a fan of cannon. However I very much recommend this camera as apposed to my original choice. I was going to purchase the Lumix G7 Panasonic, which has a micro four-thirds sensor, but the EOS M50 has a full ASPC sensor for optimal image quality. After comparing both products I decided to purchase the Cannon EOS M50. In the short time I’ve had it, it has proven to me time and time again that I made the right choice. The only downside I’ve found is the lens comparability. If you want to use a separate lens on your camera you have to purchase a lens adapter which can be a bit pricey. Other than that it is (in my opinion) an amazing camera and I very much recommend it for anyone who is considering buying a camera, or is torn between this and another camera. I am very satisfied with the product and am grateful for the helpful BestBuy staff’s recommendation of it.

I am new to the camera world and so far I really love my cannon m50. The local Best Buy reps were amazing in helping find the right combination of lenses, and accessories specifically for my needs. The camera is very sharp and easy to learn. With the adapter, one can choose any canon lens to use opening up options. This camera is amazing, small and easy to store and maintain.

Camera is great for daily use or travel, being a bit more compact than other models. Sturdy and well made. Camera features are easy to use but robust, generating great quality photos and videos. Photos seem a bit darker by default than other cameras I've used (at least on quick review, less so when viewed on computer later), but that can be tweaked in settings or if you're shooting in manual/program modes.

Overall Great Camera

I bought the M50 for a combination of photography and videography. Canon's double pixel autofocus is really good. My subjects remain in focus in almost all lighting conditions. Keep in mind, this camera is NOT a professional grade camera, and has a smaller sensor than a full size camera (like the EOS-R), but for the price, who would expect otherwise? So, here is my observation of the pros and cons...
Pros:
- Small, lightweight
- Excellent Battery life with the option of getting a plug in adapter for stationary filming
- Flip-out screen makes it easy to Vlog
- Audio in for utilizing external microphone
- Wireless, Blu-tooth, and USB options for connectivity
- Colors are recorded in more neutral tones making it easier to apply color grading to film afterward.
Cons:
- Smaller EOS-M lenses don't let in as much light
- 4K is limited to 24fps and you lose the double pixel focus
- No headphone monitoring port (but you should really get an external audio recorder anyway if you are worried about quality)
Overall, with the right settings, this camera takes amazing shots. With an additional lens adapter you can use EF/EF-S lenses as well so you can still use your old/other lenses without sacrificing auto focus or quality. The standard hot shoe makes mounting a flash, mic, or other device easy. This is a great camera for someone who wants to learn more about photography and videography without breaking the bank.

Bad 4K crop if you think you need it, but overall amazingly powerful and the size can’t be beat! Super user friendly for beginners and ideal for more hobbyist photo/videographers that would rather pour money into lens and sound equipment instead of shelling out more for full gram. The only drawback are the rumors of killing the M line in the next few years, but there’s more great, affordable lenses coming out every few months.

As an owner of a Canon 80D, I was looking for a camera that would be easy to travel with, without having the added weight and size of a larger DSLR. This lives up to that, plus more! A powerful little camera in a compact size. User friendly for both the novice photographer, but powerful enough to satisfy the daily shooter.

This Canon is compact, lightweight and extremely advanced. A perfect camera for vlogging or any occasions that you want to have a good quality pictures or videos but you don't want to carry around your bulky DSLR. Thought it's a good thing to keep in mind that non of the mirrorless cameras will ever be as good as DSLR

It has been a while since I owned a prosumer Canon camera, but when I wanted to dabble in video production I went with this popular model. It was nice to see Canon had retained a lot of what I had loved about their SLR cameras: the adjustable screen, the presence of a viewfinder (although electronic in this mirrorless camera), the wide ability to control settings and the choices to turn this ability on or off as desired, the overall build quality and the intuitive menu system. It was great to discover that Canon had also addressed some of its previous shortcomings: it is now easy to transfer pics and video to your smartphone or computer and image stabilization has now been incorporated in the body of the camera as well as many of the EF lenses. The M 50 will take cropped 4K video as well as 60fps HD. A mic jack allows you to record quality sound and the hot shoe can be used to mount portable external mics on the camera. The electronic viewfinder is outstanding and the vari-angle screen has very good resolution and is now a touch screen! Given the electronic viewfinder, the large touch screen, and the image stabilization, battery life is not what it was on older Canon SLRs without these features but it certainly good enough for a day of photography. You'll want a spare battery (which is always a good idea) if you plan to shoot video or use the wireless uploading to a smartphone or laptop or tablet.

This camera takes excellent photos and video. This is my first "enthusiast" camera that we can use for family photos and video. The controls are very user friendly by default, and can be switched to allow more advanced control once you learn the settings. I also love the flip around screen. I highly recommend this camera as an entry-level mirror-less. I have no complaints about this purchase.
