Customers are saying

Customers regard the EOS M6 Mark II as having excellent camera quality, a compact and lightweight design that's easy to use, and a fast autofocus system. However, some users point to the battery life as needing improvement, and others express concern about the lens cap's tendency to come off easily. The small size and ease of use are frequently praised, making it a convenient camera for travel and everyday use. Positive feedback on image quality and autofocus capabilities outweighs the negative comments on battery life and the lens cap.

I love this camera, so easy to use. Glad I went with this over the Sony competition. Now I just need extra batteries to shoot more. Love the wireless photo and video transfer. Come in handy when I take pictures and need to transfer them quickly to my phone and upload them on fb. Too bad fb degrades camera quality. The only bad thing is the kit lense. It gets a good amount of grain in low lighting.

    Compact Mirrorless With Solid Performance

Summary: With the 32.5 Megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor, Canon is aiming for the top spot in the competitive compact mirrorless camera segment. The M6 Mark II features excellent image quality, dual pixel auto focusing system, 4k video shooting capability all within a compact and lightweight body. Styling: The M6 Mark II can be had in all black or a retro silver and black theme which makes you think you are shooting with an old film camera. Very cool for Canon to offer this option but I personally prefer an all-black camera. Usage: Now I want to move onto the features and ergonomics of this cameras. First of all, the camera does not feature a built in EVF but instead relies on a hot shoe mounted unit which is included in some kits. This unit from what I have seen has been around a while so the resolution isn’t as good as competitors but it gets the job done. The EVF sticks up a lot and impacts usage of the tilt able screen and of course usage the hot shoe so you cannot use an external mic or other accessory at the same time. This is a slight downside for myself who doesn’t use the EVF all the time but does occasionally for certain shots. I would have liked to have seen this built in to the body so you can use another accessory not to mention keep track of the EVF while off the body. The 3” touchscreen is plenty bright for outdoor shoots and works well overall. The Canon menu system is ok but not something I found as intuitive as many Sony products but this may be due to the fact this is really all I have used over the years. Some of the switches and buttons on the body were not as ergonomically friendly as I would like, namely the power switch and dial for zooming an image to review. This corner of the camera just seems a tad odd with the larger protrusion which helps with holding the camera but not for using the aforementioned buttons. This may be a little picky but it is just something I picked up immediately over what I am used to. Image Quality: The M6 Mark II shoots some seriously great pictures. This camera features 14 fps shooting and combined with the dual pixel auto focusing, it can capture many action shots with relative ease. RAW photos can be shot up to 30 fps with 0.5 seconds of pre-shooting but this will require a high speed, UHS-II card to get the most out of this feature. The kit lens is ok for what it is. It is something to start with and should be good for most beginners or those getting used to the camera. Surely it is limiting the overall image and video quality capability of this camera. I learned that this camera uses Canons EF-M mount lenses over their more popular EF or EF-S but these lenses can be adapted luckily with a separate adaptor. Video Quality: The M6 Mark II is capable of shooting uncropped 4K video at 30fps, FHD at 30fps or 60fps, and HD at 60fps. It is capable of 120fps in 1080p but it does turn off some feature to do so. Of course time lapse is an option that lets you choose the shooting interval. Other notable features are the mic input but no headphone input for those who may want to monitor audio on the fly. As you may have seen there is no mention of 24fps in any resolution. Canon has announced a firmware update upcoming to include 24fps shooting. The 4k video out of this camera looks great as does 1080p. Nothing outside what you would expect from a camera of this level. Battery: I haven’t exhausted a full battery yet but it seems to do fine as I have used it. I am sure it will vary with the use of EVF, LCD screen, and flash but I would expect around 300 pictures on a full charge. Overall: The Canon M6 Mark II is a compelling offer with the high quality sensor, quick AF, and the amount of customization and control. Some of the drawbacks include some of the ergonomics, lens offering with the EF-M mount, and add on EVF. If you can work around some of these drawbacks, then the M6 Mark II is a solid choice for beginners all the way up to veteran photographer who need a small add on camera.

If you happen to be someone that is looking for a semi-professional camera but looking for less bulk at the same time, this camera is, in my opinion, the way to go. This camera is just as capable in my testing (at my skill level) as the full-frame DSLR I have, and it takes better pictures in most cases as well. I will say I have a few small criticisms though. First being that with all the options that are available on the camera it can be very overwhelming at first. Luckily cannon thought about that and included an auto mode that works very very well. Better than the lazy auto shoot of the past pictures taken in auto turned out just as good or even better in some instances than the ones I took time to set all the settings for. One other issue I had was pertaining to video. Video once you get everything set right was great overall. However, I had a minor issue when I started where I was unable to select 4k as a resolution. Come to find out that was because of the save file type I had selected and I’ll admit it took a fair while for me to figure that out. Once I got that sorted everything just works and it's great. I think this would be a great camera for anyone looking to improve their photo skills over just using a phone for everything. I also liked having the option for the viewfinder as it just works better in some situations for me, but at the same time, you can take it off if it's not needed. That helps with the overall size and feel of the camera and I think it was a smart move. I hope that cannon keeps with this platform size so that there are more size appropriate lenses for it in the future as of my review when looking for other lenses the selection seemed to be a little sparse. Overall the camera is great, it takes clean pictures, is super easy to use, and has a size that is just right for those of us who just don’t want to carry around a full-frame camera all the time.

Pros: Fast Camera Supports UHS-II SD cards Compact & Lightweight Cons: Mediocre kit lens EVF not that great Limited selection of EF-M mount lenses One of the standout features of this camera is the fast continuous shutter speeds (advertized as 14fps). With esentially default settings, and shooting RAW+JPG the buffer holds about 17 shots. If you pair this with a UHS-II memory card, the buffer clears somewhat quickly (I used Lexar 2000x 64gb). Focus always seemed to work well, and I rarely had an issue. Using the touch screen to pick a focus point was really nice too, and the camera seemed to track that point reasonably well too. I took the camera out on a sunny day with the EVF and I found the camera display to be much easier to see in daylight than the EVF, where I would have to shield my view of the viewfinder with my other hand in order to see it better. I think most of the time I will be using this camera without the EVF. This seemed to do very well with videos. I only took a couple short clips because I don't do a lot of video to begin with, but I had no complaints. The 120fps mode is buried in the menus though, and is not part of the standard selection of video formats. I did record a video in 120fps, but the camera saves it in 29.97fps, so the resulting video is 1/4 speed. If this is what you're looking for then it's fine, but I did not expect that. You may need to find video editing software if you wanted to do anything else with the resulting video (such as convert it back to 120fps). I found some of the images taken with this camera and lens to be noticeably soft, especially when compared to very similar DSLR counterparts. I'm willing to bet that this is more of a matter of the mediocre kit lens than the camera itself. Unfortunately, there are very view native EF-M mount lenses on the market right now. So if you wanted a decent lens, or a wider variety of lenses, you'd have to get a Canon EF EOS M mount adapter. Overall though, this makes a nice carry-about camera, I just wish there were more lenses to chose from. Some JPGs straight from the camera I uploaded here https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqOSdvqL7ugv13tOCr3TTJX9WU5h?e=FkgrLc

Great compact camera w/ some quirks

A few things, I’m no professional photographer, but I enjoy taking pictures and while my Pixel 4 XL takes great photos, there’s some instances where I want more professional photos (camera). Having said that, a DSLR doesn’t fit my needs and budget. It’s too bulky for me, and too cumbersome. In comes mirrorless cameras, which for the most part (at least to me) provide DSLR quality in a smaller form factor. So this review is written for those amateur photographers like me, who are looking for better photos than just a phone. IN THE BOX With this configuration, you’ll get an 18mm-55mm lens, the camera, battery, charger and viewfinder. You will definitely need to purchase an SD card if you don’t have one laying around. I also highly recommend a travel bag to protect your expensive purchase. One day you will likely want to upgrade or purchase additional lenses, but that’s for another day. DESIGN A few comments are in order. I’m not sure if it’s to maintain the small size, but there is no viewfinder built into the camera. For those who like to frame their shots on the digital touchscreen, they won’t care, but I prefer using a viewfinder. Now, this configuration comes with a viewfinder (a separate $200 purchase otherwise) which is nice, but it has some limitations. It slides into the hot shoe (where you might put a lighting attachment). This is nice if you don’t need a flash or can make due with the built in flash, but it limits the versatility. The other concern is wear and tear, I do worry about breaking the viewfinder when it’s attached. But it’s very snug, so I don’t worry about it falling out. The other thing is, it is activated via proximity sensor. So when the camera is on, and you hold it in your hands, the back screen is activated. When you bring the eyepiece to your eye, the back screen turns off and activates the viewfinder. This is fine, but there’s a perceptible delay when the viewfinder is activated. I don’t want to say you’ll miss a shot you want to take, but the delay is a little annoying. The other comment I’ll make is about the flash. I don’t use it often, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to pull it out. Say you’re in automatic mode, and the camera tells you to use the flash given the circumstances, it doesn’t pop-up automatically. You have to pry it open. I’ve opened it before, but it takes significant pressure and every time I try to open it, i think I’m going to break it. So I tend not to risk it. FEATURES As I said, this is a DSLR quality camera in a small package. And it has a lot of the same range of options from Aperture Value, full manual, shutter speed preferred, etc. It’s a lot. If you are a newcomer to DLSR’s or mirrorless cameras, it can be overwhelming at first. My only word of advice is to just play with it. It will take time to learn, but it’s a rewarding experience. The camera has built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. I’ve set up the Wi-Fi connection on my phone via the Canon app, but I ultimately deleted it. In part because I don’t like having so many apps on my phone and because I didn’t find that transferring photos from my camera directly to my phone to be all that helpful (for me). I prefer to view my photos on my computer where I can edit them. But if you are on the go, or edit photos on your tablet or phone, this is a nice feature to have. You can even control the camera from your phone. I do like how you can flip the screen up so that you can see yourself while filming/taking a picture. Obviously the viewfinder can’t be in place. And the screen is only a few inches wide, so you have to be pretty close in order to make much use of it. For vloggers, I could see this as a big boon. You could set up a small tripod for recording and flip the screen up so you can see yourself in the frame. I could also see the Wi-Fi connection/Canon app being extremely helpful in this situation because you can control the camera remotely from your phone. EXTRA LENSES I do want to point out, if you have other Canon lenses, they likely won’t work (Im betting if you already own Canon lenses you knew that before you read this). This camera uses EF lenses which are smaller than the typical lenses. There’s a lot more options of the standard Canon lenses than the smaller EF, but you could probably get all the lenses you need that are EF size. Your two options are to purchase EF lenses, or you could buy the lens mount adapter to use the traditional lenses which might be a smart idea if you ever upgrade to a full size DSLR. It’s just something to keep in mind when looking at this one. PHOTO QUALITY There’s not much for me to say about the quality of the photos. They are great (with the right settings). In automatic mode, it takes fantastic photos and in a pinch, you can trust the camera to pick the optimal settings.. But when you spend some time trying different shooting options, you’re going to see where this camera really shines. The different options at your disposal, while intimidating at first, really make for a fun camera that provides great photos. VIDEO QUALITY I found the video quality to be great, although I mostly used this camera for stills. Much better than my phone. However, it’s a big omission not to have 4K at 60 FPS. The video goes up to 4K 30 FPS, which is still good, but with virtually every new TV having the capability of displaying 4K content at 60 FPS, this is a big omission in my view. The few short videos I took had great lighting at pretty good stability. CONCLUSION I really have to emphasize that picking a new camera, especially in 2019 with great cameras in phones, is a very personal process. A lot depends on your comfort zone because DSLR and DSLR type cameras can be intimidating. A lot depends on your budget. But if you’re an amateur photographer or interested in getting a (relatively) low budget model that is compact in size, this is a great option. I’m really pleased with it. My only other advice is to test things out, don’t get frustrated and keep at it. It’s a very rewarding process.

I'm usually an early adopter of technology, perhaps you can relate? I buy new phones, have lots of new tech, but when it comes to cameras, and things that document my children's lives, I'm a bit of a dinosaur. I don't want to miss out on moments because I'm learning something new. I've been shooting Canon point and shoots for years and been happy with those. I've been using an older Canon DSLR for some time for special events, and I've been eyeing the size of micro 4/3 and other mirrorless cameras as the bodies began to shrink. The M6 Mark II is that next step for me. This camera feels well made, just like most Canon bodies do. Lots of options for adjusting your settings, there are no less than 4 dials on the camera and a touch screen. The good news is that it's pretty quick to get past the overwhelming nature of having this many controls. There's more than one way to get to many of the settings. I set about first familiarizing myself with the primary settings dial and working with the automatic, aperature priority, and shutter priority settings. The battery lasts the advertised ~300 shots. That goes down obviously if you use any of the wireless of other features, so you'll definitely want another battery. I started by installing the included EVF module into the hot shoe, but the more I use the camera, the more I find that it's in the way. It's a bit bulky as it keeps me from being able to lay the camera flat on it's back and get in the way of sliding it into a smaller bag, something I probably shouldn't be doing anyway... but it's so darn tempting. The EVF works well and provides a true through the lens view of the what the sensor will see, and activates when you bring it to your eye, disabling the touch screen, which I find a nice touch. The included 15-45mm lens seems to do wide angle and zoom quite nicely. I've not explored any of my other options yes, nor have I gotten into any lens adapters or filters, but I suspect this camera will end up pushing me into that realm. Lower light performance is amazing and this camera definitely has the ability to collect LOTS of light and lots of info. I've played with some of the burst modes and the images captured are wowing me. So far not too many cons on this camera, it obviously needs a fast card to keep up with it's sensor, and I had to go out and buy one. I would have just as soon they included one and set the price just a fraction higher. I also installed the strap, and the kit lens, but find I'm going to lose the lens caps sooner than I'd like to, becuase it comes off easily. Also the battery is quite large and the charger is as large to match. This is a GREAT camera and was exactly what I was looking for to get into the next stage of photography. If you've held out like me, or if you're in the market for a new Canon DSLR, this camera is definitely worth a look. I'd also strongly consider the other kit with a larger zoom lens, although lots of what I'm reading suggests that the EOS-M lenses aren't sharp enough for the M6 Mark IIs sensor and you might need an adapter and some EF lenses anyway... but that's farther down the road.

I currently shoot with a Sony Alpha 7 III 35 mm mirrorless full frame camera. It’s an excellent camera, so needless to say, the Canon was up against some pretty staunch competition. After a week of testing, I must say that this new Canon M6 Mark II is now my go-to travel camera. It is very fast, light, and versatile. The included kit lens is very good, but I’m more of a fan of fixed glass, so I invested in the Canon 22mm and 32mm lenses. And this is where the camera truly shines. While it is fast and offers great photos with the kit lens, the fixed glass is even better. Still, you can’t go wrong with just the kit lens if you are okay with a little less versatility (e.g., night shots and blurring) in your shooting. Switching between lenses is very easy and only takes a few seconds. The picture quality is stellar. True colors shine through and the images are very sharp. The shutter is VERY fast, which helps with action shots. I got pictures of my pet that are solely the result of the camera’s fast shutter. Even my son, who shoots with a Nikon D750, noticed the shutter speed and responsiveness. And there is an excellent burst mode that captures photos 0.5 seconds before shooting, so I am able to capture the moment before I hit the shutter button. The 4K video is clear and immersive. Play-back on a large TV looks amazing. The built-in mic does a pretty good job for casual video, but I also carry a hot mic when I want to capture serious video and sound. Another cool feature of this camera is the touch screen and the drag and drop focus. You can assign touch focus to the full screen or to a portion of the touch screen. For example, I shoot with my left eye, so I assigned touch focus to the rleft half of the touch screen. It works great when you are also using the included electronic view finder. The camera’s small size is partly due to the fact that the viewfinder is not built in, but is detachable. It installs on the hot shoe, so use of the viewfinder precludes use of an add-on mic or flash. But more often than not, I am using the electronic viewfinder because I enjoy the more precise feel I get when framing a shot. The electronic viewfinder comes off and stores easily and you can simply use the sharp and bright screen. The touch screen on the Canon is the best I have seen. It is sharp, responsive, and bright. The full suite of menus are available via touch. The screen be tilted to can face upwards, downwards, and can also face front-way for selfies, blogging, and framing timed shots. The available angles make the camera very easy to use in a variety of shooting situations. The touch screen gives this camera an advantage over Sony. There are many other nice features on the camera. The wifi works well. It was easy to connect and allows the user to remotely control the camera. It also provides GPS info to the camera. Ideally a GPS would be included on-board the camera (since you have to turn launch the Canon app on the phone and re-connect to enable GPS tagging). So I usually create a custom folder on the camera SD card that specifies a shooting location. A couple of other nice touches: The manual/auto focus button is a with on the back of the camera, which is a better location than having it on the lens. The flash pops forward, which eliminates shadowing from lenses. Finally, this camera feels great in the hand. The texture makes it easy to hold, and the overall shape makes it easy to hold. This is an excellent camera. IMHO, it is the perfect travel camera, especially when you take along the kit lens and the 22 and 32 mm lenses. Even with all of that, it is very easy to pack everything into a small bag. The camera and lenses are very light, compact, and easy to take along. And I no longer feel guilty leaving my Sony at home. I know I will get great shots with this amazing Canon camera.

The Canon EOS M6 Mk II camera is simply next level for me personally. If I could give it an extra star I would. I would not say I am a professional by any means, but I use a variety of DSLR cameras for my job and I consider myself to be fairly familiar with the cameras. That said, outside work I still like to use a good camera to capture my family as my kids grow as well as any other life events. That is important to me. This camera is now my go to option over my other DSLR. To begin, the camera is much smaller than your average DSLR. It weighs less, has the same variety of lens options and for the most part functions the same. One things you will notice right away is the touch screen interface on the 3” back screen. The package I purchased came with the standard 15-45mm lens. Another thing I liked, was the built in tutorials for novice users. As you start using the camera, it offers suggestions and you can easily review the different options in the settings and it will explain things to you for the most part. For anything you don’t understand there are 1000 youtube videos you can watch. It won’t tell you what F-Stop means, and it won’t teach you how to use all the settings, but it will help you set things up so the camera will do most of the thinking for you and give you the best image possible. The camera has 32 megapixals. 32! I know most people just use their phone to take pictures and some can be pretty decent. Those typically have 12 MP. Can you imagine with 32 looks like? And with the ability to control every aspect of the shot if you so please? If can also record your GPS location or you can turn that feature off it you want When you first look at the camera, you see there is no view finder. But, look in the box, you have one that attaches to the camera. So you have the option of using the back screen or a view finder. Also, the screen on the back moves. So you can literally face the camera toward yourself and see the shot while using a remote. For that of course you have to remove the viewfinder. But the option is a pretty neat idea. One could literally hold the camera as far above their head as they can reach, and angle the screen toward yourself and see over the crowd for a shot. The camera has wifi and Bluetooth. There is an App you can download from the App Store or Google Play called Camera Connect (by Canon). With that, all the pictures on my camera can be loaded onto my phone for review. If will also link to your computer if you have a compatible computer. So no need to store everything on your camera if you don’t want to. Like other DSLR cameras, this one also can record videos. It does so in 4K. The one tip I would remember is that your camera is only as fast as the SD card you are using. Make sure to get one that has a higher FPS, so videos are smoother and you can take photos faster. I had an older card in my camera at first without thinking, and notice the difference when I bought another one. All in all, if you are looking at spending this amount of money for a camera, you are going to be an educated consumer. Read all the reviews online and you will see that this camera is the real deal. In the world of mirrorless cameras, many photographers have been waiting to getting this type of camera because they could not compete with your standard DSLR models. This one seems to be at the level now. I really love it, and I really feel you will too.

The Canon M6 Mk II Mirrorless camera shoots beautifully detailed and large photos at relatively fast speeds. If you're looking for a camera with the best picture and compact size, I would recommend this camera for you. The M series doesn't come with very many options for lenses without using an adapter, however the 14-45mm lens in this kit does a mighty fine job with the tasks I've put it through. The M series does quite well in low light situations however I do not recommend shooting in lower than ISO 6400. Editing the raw photos I was able to bring back much of the "lost details" without too much noise. Connecting to a phone is a lot more complicated than necessary, but once you jump through all of the hoops, you can access all your photos as need be. My one real complaint is the lack of built in eye viewfinder. While it does come with a pretty great hot shoe mount viewfinder, it doesnt leave an option to use an external flash. But overall I am pleased with the performance of this M series Mirrorless camera.

I've been quite impressed in the past with Canon cameras. Not only do they have excellent photo capabilities but they also offer fantastic movie features as well. The Eos M6 Mark II does not deviate from this but it is incredibly compact. The M6 Mark II is lightweight powerful camera that delivers stunning pictures and videos in both low light and daylight. It has a 32.5 MP CMOS sensors which produces crisp high res pictures and has an ISO range of 100-25600 which allows images to captured with no-to-low noise. What I really like is that it can shoot 4K 30fps videos in this compact size which means you can capture all the detail for home videos. And, if you are like me and want to video some sporting events, it even has a 1080p 120FPS mode to capture sports smoothly! I've enjoyed using the camera, it allows you to shoot video with the ease of a point-and-shoot and provides enough features to rival a DSLR. It all depends on the situation and the user which is great. From a beginner to a professional, you can appreciate the EOS M6 Mark II. The elctronic view finder is nice as well as the included kit lens. However, you don't have to just stick with the included lens, you can can get a wide range of lens to find the right look for your photo/video. I'm quite happy with the performance of the EOS M6 Mark II. It is well built and packed with tons of features for both novice and pro. Highly recommend this amazing mirrorless camera.

I truly enjoyed the camera and the build quality and features. I did have a few issues which I will touch on. I am approaching this from an average guy's point of view and practicality. The PROS: The build quality is amazing The AF is very smooth and quick focus just by tapping an dragging 4k @ 30 frames per second gives you smooth playback rich in detail large LCD screen for ease of menu options and previewing videos/pics The autofocus at 4k is amazing. The Bluetooth and WIFI is nice but I don't use it much a s file transfers take too long and the remote options are nice but do not standout from other models with the Bluetooth feature. CONS: I had a very few cons but I did find them annoying enough to mention. The viewfinder although nice for framing a shot it takes away a very valuable accessory mount, which I use with a LED lighting panel. I wish it was integrated and thus allowed you to use your accessories along with a viewfinder. The screen, I had a canon M50, the versatility is very limited. I liked the 180 degree spin of the LCD on the m50 as it let you frame yourself and take video unobstructed. The new screen design pops above the camera but if you are using any accessory which most people need a portable light and the shoe mount m OVERALL a very nice camera that has AMAZING features but a few design flaws that I felt needed to be mentioned. The camera quality and AF focus is great, the build quality feels very durable so don't let me fool you with the few long winded cons of the camera...overall the quality when recording or editing your videos is well worth the few design flaws I mentioned.

This camera is a photographer's dream. One caveat: if you're new to cameras, there's a bit of a learning curve! Most likely, though, if you are looking at this camera you know what you're looking for. Portability is great - this camera is fairly light and if you know what you're doing, easy to use. A manual is included should you need some pointers :) The LCD flips around front, which I personally use for selfies with family. Picture quality is, as expected, fantastic. The 32.5MP sensor does not disappoint. ISO performance is excellent, as well. 4K video recording is awesome, as well - incredible quality. In the past, we have had to use a separate camcorder but I think this camera has such great recording capability that we will no longer be using our camcorder. All in all, highly recommended - this is a photographer's dream camera.
