This camera is great. The pics are beautiful, file size nice, easy to navigate, a great camera. However, the eye piece is very close to the top line of the menu, so can be hard to select. Also, I had the R6 and upgraded and the R6 is better in low light than this. (Higher MP essentially has some drawbacks). Also, I do miss the two Memory card slots, dont have the new expensive cards yet, but I guess I will invest. Also, in sports photography I have noticed sometimes it can be "busy" loading onto card and i have had to wait. The speed of the card should be fast enough, but not always. Overall, a fantastic camera. I'd change a thing or two but I am very happy with the upgrade from R6. But low light could be better.

I bought this as an upgrade from the R10. The clarity this gives my photos and videos is incredible. It’s fairly user friendly right out of the box and it feels like a heavy duty camera. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Camera is easy to use and provides exceedingly clear pictures. I found it very effective during street and party scenes, and I'm looking forward to using it for landscape and asteral photography.

This camera all that I needed. The autofocus & the 45MP is just amazing that it locked on the eye of person or animal to make the picture great. I don’t take a lot of video, but the 4k is just nice to have around when I need it.

Best canon camera to date. Works well with existing EF lens with the canon EF to R adapter. Face detection and eye focus a big advancement in auto focus. Seeing your exact exposure in viewfinder prior to taking picture is a big advantage. Camera is a game changer

An amazing camera. It is very easy to handle and perfect for any type of photography. Easy purchase, a lil charge and took over 1,000 photos straight out of the box. Couldn't have asked anything better.

Absolutely love this camera. Battery life should be better on something this expensive, but canon will fix that in the next generation. A bit overpriced IMO, but I don't regret spending the money on this R5. It's low-light capability is amazing. True-to-life picture quality.

Hello :) I purchased this camera, May 2022, for the 45mps and had high hopes for it; shows good detail but the AF if gravely disappointing, especially when photographing smaller animals, like small birds. I've heard it does better when using 'L' lenses, but I don't have any so I can't say if that, is true.. The camera is light-weight and has a good grip for smaller hands, larger hands may wish to buy a cage of some-kind separately. The camera body has some weather-sealing but is not waterproof. You can use your EF lenses from your older Canon DSLR; pictures below are jpg's shot with a Tamron 150-600mm EF lens. Focus is off on a couple of the smaller birds, although the animal AF was on. I sometimes wish I'd stuck with the R6, but I'm not a fan of the knobs on the top of cameras, which is why I've not switched to Sony. I prefer the screen on the R5. The LCD screen is touch-based, making it easy to make setting changes etc. I've given this a 4* rating because of the AF and the overheating issue, when recording video, which still exists a little, even after all current firmware updates. It also freezes when taking stills occasionally, which it's done to me a couple times, even though I had only been taking stills..

I wanted to upgrade from my 70D and wanted to go full frame. I just loved the camera. Its fast, tones of features and the quality is just perfect. I am loving it for portraits, landscape. Easy to handle and i just love how fast it is. Still learning everyday on the features.

    Amazing 4K60 and RF Lens

Not worth the premium for 8K. It's the 4K60 image quality that's amazing. Match this camera to the RF 50mm F1.2 lens and you have an amazing low light camera shooting the highest quality 4K60 footage you will ever see, beating $15,000 dedicated cinema cameras. Definitely get the external Ninja V monitor for extended recording times to avoid overheating issues - also better for workflow to get ProRes codec from the Ninja V because 4:2:2 10-bit is impossibly slow.

This lens transformed my approach to photography, and I've been shooting professionally for 45 years. Superb build quality, huge 45 mp file size, sharp and versatile LCD display, astonishingly good artificial intelligence-driven focusing, and an increasingly wide array of RF lenses designed just for Canon's mirrorless camera bodies. If you purchase this, be patient with yourself while you learn how to use it. It's a whole new paradigm! Note: This is a HIGH-END camera. Many users (most, in fact) who aren't printing large exhibition prints will be just as happy with the R6, which has a much smaller image size (20 Mp). Otherwise, the feature set is nearly identical to the R5, and you can take the money you save and invest it in lenses.

The camera is amazing. Day and night improvement over 5D Mark IV. The focus tracking is just ridiculously fast and on point. Camera is worth every penny. I mostly shoot video and yes the camera does have heating issues in 8K but you are missing the point. This gives you an option of 8K for a price point well below the REd and Black Magic. If you are shooting high end movies, commercials and documentary this is not designed for that there is EOS cinema line for that. You can't have everything for 4 thousand dollars so please stop complaining. Its designed for professional consumers for weddings, photography and everyday people in mind. I haven't had any issues yet and I shot ton of video ranging from weddings to commercial work. It was definetely worth the wait. Dont forget to buy the RF lenses there is nothing that can match them out there right now. They are bit expensive but hey you don't buy them every year. They are there for a long time.

This is the best mirrorless camera for the time. Well made by Canon - however the different memory cards are a little annoying but easy to get over with the performance of the camera. I am primarily a Nikon user, but made the exception for this R5.

Love it. Everything I ever wanted from a camera. Fast and accurate AF, dual card slot, 45 MP , fast enough shooting frame rate and seems like a well built product. I don’t care much for 8K and video capabilities of this camera.

The replacement for my Canon 5D markIV and I must say a Huge Upgrade! I am a professional photographer of 31 years and recently upgraded to canon mirrorless systems for our portrait studio and now with the R5 I can shoot action and event photography with easeand outstanding quality even in the jpeg and heif files not to mention the raw images are unbelievable! Focusing system is great, battery life is standard I've shot well over 1200 images before changing batteries. No overheating with still photography, I have not yet used for video the main purpose of my purchase is photography. The media is quite costly but extremely fast. I've tethered to my laptop and wireless to my phone and tablet for on location previewing. Canons best thus far. I will now purchase an R6 as a backup.
