Had to upgrade a worn out Rebel XTi and couldn't be happier. Size is about the same, but much lighter. Picture quality is great, even on auto settings. The built-in flash is surprisingly good.

This camera is excellent for my families needs. We take a ton of pictures, and travel frequently, and this camera works flawlessly. We have a young son who is difficult to photography, but this Canon has numerous settings to quickly capture some fantastic pictures. I am a former Nikon user, and the picture quality seems to be better on this Canon. It is a newer model, so I guess that could be expected, but it takes great pictures. Its smaller size is nice as well, although it is not compact. It is very easy to use, and to experiment with, since we are not advanced photographers.

This is my first DSL camera so I was looking for something that is easy to learn with. The settings are pretty self explanatory so it makes for easy picture taking. It is very light and compact. I had been told to try holding the different camera brands before purchasing one. When I saw this new SL1 by Canon, I knew this had to be the one for us. The photos come out great!! I'm not a professional. I will be using it for family photos, vacations and special occasions. I still have a lot to learn. Looking forward to taking a photography class to get the most use of this camera.

This is my first DSLR camera and I love it. The small compact frame is excellent. I need to take some classes because there are some great features that I haven't mastered yet. Another little surprise was the LCD on the back is touch screen!

I own a 5D3, 5D2 and 5 "L" lenses, so you might think that I wouldn't like this camera but I absolutely love it! With the 40mm pancake attached it will fit in my purse. The image quality is excellent, both with the two STM lenses I own plus my "L" lenses. I used it on a Bridal shoot as a backup with the 35L and was very pleased with the quality. One of my favorite combos is this camera with the 100mm F2.8L IS Macro. I use this camera anytime I don't want the size and weight of the 5D bodies, for times when I don't want to risk loss or damage to the more expensive equipment but I would also pull it out on a paid shoot at anytime I need a backup. I feel that it was worth every penny that I paid for it and would not hesitate to buy it again. Lots of fun, easy to use and great image quality.

Bought this as a gift for my wife. Small size and light weight is perfect for her. LCD screen is easy to navigate because it is touch screen. Very quick focusing. The canon 40 mm pancake lens makes this a perfect camera to fit into my wife's purse. The focus is very quick and image quality is amazing. Highy recemmend this camera for a nice light weight walk around camera.

    Great Beginner DSLR

The main reason I bought this DSLR was the size. It is slightly smaller than most DSLRs, making it the perfect size for my wife and I to both use it. We also wanted something that would take good pictures without being too complicated. It takes very nice photos, and the settings are easy to adjust. For indoor shots I recommend the soft setting in portrait mode; it fixes the color distortion a lot of yellowy light bulbs cause. For outdoors you can have a lot of fun with the aperture mode.

Really nice camera, but has fewer tweaks than my 60D or 70D. Really light and take GREAT pictures. The price is a lot better, Too.

It takes great pictures in low light compared to point and shoot. It's easy to take along in my carry-on bag and uses the same lenses etc. as the larger Rebel series cameras. I got about 300 pictures from the first battery charge.

I'm not real tech-savvy, but wanted a serious camera to use on my anniversary trip to Italy. Wow! Amazing! Easy to use - not too many bells and whistles to make things complicated. Glad I made the investment.

Bought this for my wife and it fits her hands perfectly. She had been using my 50D and that was too heavy and a bit large for her so it wasn't a joy to use. But the SL-1 really fits the bill. Operation is easy, the feature set is full and highly capable, the image quality is excellent and this camera is very quick in both auto-focus and shooting. For my money this is the best small DSLR on the market.

I have used a canon rebel before and so I was familiar with the interface but on this one it had touch screen functions which was nice. I think canons overall are easier to use and have great functionality.

I was struggling to decide between a mirrorless and a DSLR, and I actually bought a mirrorless first, but had to return it. Turns out having a view-finder is a pretty big deal for me. This camera is perfect for our family. We're not professional photographers, but we wanted to be able to take great-looking pictures of our family, and this camera delivers. It is super intuitive, is great value, and is small and light enough for my wife to use comfortably. Love it!

This camera would be a great purchase for anyone, beginner to pro,who wants a light weight, easy to use DSLR for a very reasonable price. Any canon EF lense or lense with canon bayonet mount can be used. The camera hasn't taken a bad photo yet. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone. It's worth it......
