great camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.spent a long time comparing nikon 5200 vs canon T5i; happy with purchase so far (1 month), camera feels great to handle even if controls not so intuitive. Touch screen is a big plus for me, and picture quality really good for motor sports use (bought 18-135 and 80-300 zoom lenses).

Able to do so much with this camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are so many things you can do with this camera. With quite a few options, it will take some extra time to understand how best to utilize them. That being said, the time it takes will produce much better pictures. The pictures are extremely clear, even when shooting through a window to an object outside. Obviously, this is a giant step up from the Powershot I am used to using, but I am very pleased to have made the purchase and stepped up to this level of camera. With the 18-155 lens, you can only get within 1.3 feet of your object. A Macro lens is needed to get closer pictures. Same issue with the Portrait setting. It will take portrait pictures but will produce better portraits with a Portrait lens. Basically, the camera is capable of so much, as long as you have the correct lens. I'm extremely happy with this camera and look forward to learning more about how to use it to the best of its (and my) ability.

NOT a Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is probably tooo good for me but I do travel international and domestic every yr and wanted a nicer camera, and this one seemed to fit the bill for the price. Since I plan to take another African Safari I really wanted a 300mm lens, but didn't want to pay that much so decided I could be happy with the 250 that came with it. The 18-135 seems really nice and the 5 frames/sec in Sports is fun. I haven't used it much yet and there are many features I hope to learn about but it looks like one can just leave it on Auto and snap away.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera package is fantastic. The camera is easy to use with tons of features and the picture quality is awesome. Still learning the different features. Would highly recommend this camera. The two different lenses with the stabilization feature is the best. Very, very pleased!!!!

Switched to a DSLR!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't used a DSLR in years and was looking for something to use for a great quality sports shot to take pictures of my kids playing hockey and football. I was holding out for the Canon D70 and when it came out, I compared the two. The sales rep at BB was very helpful and we basically decided together that the T5i would be easier for me to use and a lot more affordable! I got the bundle with the 18-135mm lens and I got the 55-250mm lens. The 18-135 lens was a STM lens the other was not. The first shots I took were still shots of my kids and I could not believe the quality. I was so excited. Clear beautiful pictures! Finally! I enlarged, cropped, and still just beautiful. I got the first football game and I was very impressed. The shutter speed was better than I had hoped and just the right amount of speed for kids' sports. At this point I am a happy camper. I tried using the video and was very disappointed. Found out it is not the camera but the lens causing lots of "noise" on the video. The STM lens makes a huge difference and I went and exchanged the 55-250mm lens immediately. The body is comfortable to hold and doesn't feel awkward - especially since I just came from a larger sized point and shoot. I'm very happy with my purchase. There are still a bunch of functions I haven't tried yet! Overall, I think its the best for the price.
