This camera is an upgrade from my Rebel T2i which I was really happy with but the T5i is so much better, with picture quality, better range of ISO speeds, flip out LCD monitor. It weighs less than the T2i, a little bit, which is very nice when taking lots of pictures.I am the "official" photographer for our local RC Airplane club and I usually take LOTS of pictures when we have a flying event like 2000-3000 pictures a day! The continuous burst setting makes it very easy to catch good action shots! And also great shots of planes making them look like the real ones flying. The members are really liking seeing pictures of their planes like that. This camera makes me feel like a professional photographer rather than the amateur that I am! Really like it! I don't believe I would ever switch to a different brand other than Canon. Very well made and ease of use. Thanks Canon!

The T5i is a awesome camera to compete with the Professionals. It has a variety of options that will take you weeks to learn and use. Take stills or video, and add creative features like B&W images. It has most of the features a professional might use, but easy enough for the amateur.

I love this camera. With that being said, it is so good to learn on, that I'm beginning to feel like I may need something more pretty quick. Would I go back and spend twice as much for a D series Canon? Probably not, I'm very happy with the t5i. Just know you may very well fall hard for photography after learning all of it's great features.

This is a great camera for all uses but you really need to put in the time and the effort in learning to shoot in manual if you want to get the full use of it if you plan on just shooting on auto then I recommend buying a less expensive point and shoot.

Easy to use basic features. Standard lense is great. I'm an amateur photographer and youtuber and this camera is perfect for both those things. The flip-out screen is very usefull. (Instagram: @pnw.ang)

This camera is fantastic whether you are just starting out, or you are experienced with a camera. I'm going to put this at the top of the rating, just incase you are looking for it: The T5i is not a full frame camera. Now, moving on... This is probably the best camera out there for the price range. I spent weeks trying to decide between cameras. It boiled down to the T5i and 60D. (The 60D has a digital display on the top of it, which is a huge selling point. However the dial on the top of the camera to select the camera mode is awful! You have to push a button to change modes which is basically a 2 handed operation.) So I chose the T5i, and I am happy I did! The quality is fantastic, the shutter speed is great, and it feels good when you hold it. The T5i basically has a point and shoot option - just leave it in automatic and everything looks amazing! My boyfriend has always taken awful pictures, but he takes great photos with this camera! The video quality is fantastic! It is crisp and fluid. My one complaint about this camera happens when you shoot video. The auto focus is terrible when shooting video, so don't bother using it. It takes too long to focus and often focuses on the wrong thing. I knew this going into it, so I won't take off for it. Overall, this is a great camera for videos or photos!

I bought this recently to use in my photography class. I am new to DSLR cameras and using a manual setting on a camera. I upgraded from a point and shoot. So far, I have not found negatives about this camera, although with practice and experience that could change. What I like? * It feels nice in my hands. * It was easy to set up to sync with my PC. * The touch screen is a wonderful addition. You don't need to use it, but if you do, it makes whatever you are using it for that much easier. * I am finding it to be very intuitive to find and adjust what I need to in order to get a great picture. * Thanks to having had my first photography class prior to buying this camera, it was super easy to pull it out of the box, charge the battery, and take my first manual photo with very little fuss. I had not had a camera to play with in my first class, so this was just after paying attention and then finding it once I had my camera. Again, super intuitive! I am sure as I continue to use this, I will have more positives and will continue to love it even more.

My first photography class was over 50 years ago. I spent all my life with film cameras. Film is no longer practical. I gave all my film equipment to the community college a few years ago and resigned myself to simple point and shoot cameras. But my creative instincts couldn't stand it any longer. I always liked Canon equipment - my favorite film SLR was a Canon. Since the research showed good reviews on this digital one, I took the plunge. I'm so glad I did. Very rewarding even tho I am not a professional photographer, hobby only. This camera would be good for any level. There's a lot to learn about it but the basics are the same as they were in 1961 - f stops, film speeds, etc. Easy to make the transition into digital. Picture quality is so very sharp, colors vibrant. I'm very happy with this camera. Price is worth every penny it cost.

I bought this camera because it possessed all of my favorite DSLR features, for the most reasonable "first time DSLR buyer" price. You don't need the t6i to be perfectly honest. Over the years, I learned on the t2i, t3i, and t4i and have always loved and appreciated Canon's operating system. It's fantastic, easy to use, easy to learn, and always produces the highest quality photos. The flip out, rotating screen is the best part of this camera, and easily sets it apart from its competitors. It makes it so much easier to look through your photos at the end of the day, comfortably, and clearly (the display is unreal.) I do not however, use the touch screen as a feature, in fact I prefer scrolling and zooming in the old fashion way...sometimes i even forget it has a touch screen. The size and weight of the t5i is perfect for someone of my height (5'3") and build, especially in comparison to some of the bigger more advanced/expensive models like the 7D etc...which can be pretty daunting to tote around, or move freely with, while taking photos, in the moment. Also, I only charged the battery to a full charge once, after leaving the destination of my vacation, and have used it off and on for a month without it showing any signs of being low or dying. This camera is worth the investment, although at some point in the near future, you may want to get a better telephoto lens. I wasn't satisfied with the basic standard lens the camera comes with. If a package is offered when you make the camera body purchase, jump on it right then and there.

After several comments by my son of how much he liked the photos from my Canon I decided to buy him one as a gift for Christmas. I have had several Canon cameras over the years and have always been very happy with this brand. The ease of use and the quality of the photographs keeps me coming back. I am sure he will have a wonderful time learning to use this camera and be quite satisfied with the results.
