So when starting up the printer, right out of the gate the screen was frozen. When we returned it, the best buy rep actually mentioned we couldn’t exchange it for the same model because they no longer carried them due to the issues. Feature rich, but functionally poor!

Does not come with the best instructions. Had to look on the internet and still didn’t get the scanning portion to work properly. Whatever happened to good old instruction manuals? Immediately took back to the store.

The display for the machine is crooked as if it was installed erroneously at the factory. Also, there appears to be no way to calibrate the touch screen and the upper oeft corner of the display is mostly unusable because it doesnt register touch properly where you are actually touching it. The machine works great otherwise, I really want to love it.

Scanning is a nightmare

I have a Pixma and I wanted a scanner and printer with a document feeder so I wouldn’t have to use the flatbed and copy/scan one side and one page at a time. The Pixma is so easy to use, but basically every time you print you get a low ink error.
So a laser printer seemed like the way to go,
The control panel on my Canon MF452 was installed crooked on the machine. Well, fine. I didn’t want to haul that thing back to BestBuy for that. AirPrint was a breeze to set up and copy works great.
Scanning is a total nightmare. Any scans I did with the Mac were laughable, the quality was unbelievably horrible. I absolutely could not scan from the Mac unless I used the Canon app, and the results were so poor—sizing errors, image not dark enough, you name it.
I cannot remember all the crap I went through to set it up so it would scan to my Windows machine, but I felt okay once I set it up.
I thought I would do a quick scan this evening but no luck. I tried to scan to the email saved in my contacts but I kept getting an error. It should be simple, right? Tap the saved contact that I KNOW works and boom, pick up the document in email. WRONG.
So I go to log in to Remote UI. What the heck, my password manager has a warning that the PIN has been compromised. What?! Still, I was able to log in to Remote UI on my computer and I changed the PIN from the machine. Then I logged out (stupid stupid stupid me), and logged back in with the new PIN I had set from the machine, and I logged out again. My password manager showed my Canon PIN was compromised again. Basically my system manager ID and PIN have been hacked. The touch screen option to reset the UI PIN is gone and the menu buttons have been changed. The Canon Remote UI login is not secure so what exactly are you supposed to do? Now the only option is to contact Canon and see if they can get me logged in. Then I gave to figure out how I’m going to lock down the login credentials. I’m guessing whoever I speak with at Canon won’t have any idea how to log in to Remote UI securely.
Do not get this printer if you need something secure. You have to set up administration rights and so forth with this thing and it’s just so unnecessary. Do not get this printer unless you are a printer and cybersecurity expert. I just want to throw this thing out the window. I was having such a nice evening until I thought hey, let me scan this sheet of paper real quick.
This issue with the compromised system manager PIN sounds so much like the whole printnightmare fiasco, if you’re familiar with that issue. Someone’s idea of fun I guess.

Don't buy Canon MF450 Series Laser Printer.

I'll never buy another Canon. Purchased in 2022. Best Buy says that I purchased a MF452dw Image Series. Printer stickers pasted all over the actual printer says that I
t is a MF450 Image Series. Canon Does Not Support the MF450 Series. The name is obsolete if your looking for a Driver to actually make it print. I've had nothing but trouble with this printer. I've called Canon Support 5 times over 2 years. It prints for a minth then suddenly it is no longer connected, or I need paper with a drawer full of paper or Now I need ink. If I print on zSunday I may receive the actual print on Tuesday. 70 years, website creater, business owner I've never had a printer this screwrd up...ever. Waste of well over $200. I rrun a Small Business. I have No Time for this.
