Amazing quality!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great medium sized Canon device for home use. It is fast and quiet and prints great color graphs and pie charts. Super easy to setup and configure. Canon has always made things easy when it comes to setup. This Canon Color imageCLASS device Will Copy, Scan, Media Print from a flash drive, Secure print has double side printing, different language settings and so many more options that makes it the best in the market. The scanner lid opens very easily and stays open on its own so you don't have to manually hold it up. It can be hardwired or wireless so we have integrated our tablets with this printer and can print from anywhere in our home.the nice looking display panel let’s you choose what option you need and makes life easy to work with the device. The picture quality is amazing, looks like we took a photo ourselves. The remote function is great. We have the printer set up in one room and can send the items we need printed from anywhere in the home. This printer is needed now more then ever. With all the children remotely learning and the parents needing to print out daily worksheets, this is a must have. We are able to print out as many assignments as we need. The wireless hook up has some options that a home /small office network might not use, such as a code to prevent unauthorized access. Apparently you cannot leave this step out, but you can just use the default codes settings in the manual (which are not preset). Once your printer has internet access, it can go to the Canon website and upgrade its software, or you can also run the included CD disk and upgrade the drivers. Pastel shades print just great. Non-photographic images i.e. charts print well. Photos in a set of online pdf instructions with mixed print and photo images printed well. If you have never used a laser printer I highly recommend this Canon printer. If you need to replace one for home, small business, nonprofit or volunteer work this is the one to buy.

Easy Setup, User Friendly, Excellent Print Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer comes print ready and is easy to set up. Unpacking instructions are printed on the box and Canon obviously put some thought into how to make unpacking easy (and operation easy, for that matter). The outer box slides up off the carton and the inner box sides fold down, so you only have to remove the protective Styrofoam to pick up the printer to place it in its operating location. From there just plug it in, turn it on, and follow the user guide and on-screen instructions. Toner cartridges are already loaded, all you need to do is load paper. It came packed with one plastic attachment which I have been unable to determine its purpose. There is no mention of it in the user guide or the online manual. (Maybe it's for the model that has fax and 2-sided copy and scan. This model has 2-sided printing but not 2-sided copying or scanning, which is somewhat of a disappointment that I will get into more later.) The whole setup process from opening the box to printing a test page took about 45 minutes. Connecting to my Wi-Fi internet was no problem, and locating and adding the printer to both my desktop and laptop computers was likewise no problem, no glitches. (If you're going to connect to a computer by USB, you need a USB cable as none is included.) If you continue to the automatic toner cartridge replenishment option, that takes another 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your internet speed. It requires an update of the printer's firmware, downloading software on your computer, and completing registering online. The printer has an LED color touchscreen that's bright and easily readable. All of the functions to control the printer are accessible from the touchscreen Home Page. This printer is well designed. Everything is on the front of the printer. Paper loads from the front, toner cartridges are accessed from the front, power button is on the front, LED screen is prominent and large enough to be easily readable up front near the top, and the scanner opens in front. The operation of the printer itself has so far been flawless. It connects and responds immediately to print commands. No paper jams or problems with 2-sided printing. Likewise, I've had no problems with the auto feeder for copying and scanning. My one complaint is that since this printer does 2-sided printing, it seems to me Canon should have included the capability to do 2-sided copying and scanning - that only comes with the model that does faxing. This model will do 1-sided to 2-sided, meaning put 2 documents in the feeder and you can print or scan a 2-sided copy. But you can't put side 1 of a document in the feeder and copy/scan, then flip to side 2 and get a 2-sided copy/scan. You'll get 2 separate pages. Overall, except as noted, I'm very happy with this printer. It was quick and easy to set up, it's user friendly, works flawlessly, and the black and white and color print quality is excellent, much better than my inkjets for sure. An excellent printer for the price and a big and welcome step up from my inkjet printers.

Good sturdy printer for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is actually really heavy/sturdy but it didn't take up any more space than my old brother printer, which was shorter. It was also easy to set up if you are good with computers. If you are even remotely good with computers, you can set it up so that your scans show up in a folder in your computer. printing and copy were like office quality. I got the computer for those days when I am working at home.

Best Printer I Have EVER Owned!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Canon imageCLASS MF654Cdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer feels like a legit business printer at more of a home printer price. For the size it is quite powerful and it actually stays connected to my PC and Laptop even during periods of unstable internet! Installation was super quick and easy following the quick start guide. The packaging box was well designed in that provided excellent support and was quick and easy to open and unpack. As far as being a printer, as hoped, it’s fantastic. After a quick warm-up for each print session it produces beautiful prints at a very quick rate. There are other major brands of printers that seem to be doing everything they can to get you to sign up for some sort of ink subscription plan, often to the detriment of the overall printing experience. Not this one! There is an available plan, but it doesn’t feel forced in any way. The black and white text prints look incredibly sharp and professional. I tried a few full 4k full color pictures and well, color me impressed! Copies and scans are easy and intuitive to produce as well. This is where the little LCD screen shines. Again, many if not most printers have these nowadays, but this one is by far the most responsive I have used. Overall I absolutely love this printer! Over the last decade it has felt that printers are getting worse and worse. I mean they can print great when they work, but had other issues. Everything is trying to force you to apps and trying to get you on an ink plan. This feels like such a huge step forward by taking a step back and just focusing on a GREAT product. It is my favorite printer I have ever owned. I would recommend it to anyone who has the budget for it. If you think it’s a bit pricey or a little more than you need, just keep in mind a LaserJet is much cheaper per print. It is on the heavy side, so a potential negative for some. However if you are even a moderate home use printer I think this one is a great option. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend!

Laser Printer/Scanner/Copier - Is The Way To Go!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW what a printer. It is a little larger than I was expecting when i got it home and set it up. So i fyou want a printer that tucks out of the way and blends in with your decor, this may not be the one for you. If you have a home office or a place to keep it with your work space than you will be very pleased with all this can do for you. Set up was easy. Once you get all the packing tape removed (the blue tape to keep all the doors and openings in their right place during transport, then you are ready to start your set up. The ink is already installed. Which I found to be a nice feature. Although I am sure I will have some questions when it comes to replacing the ink to be sure I do it correctly, it is nice knowing it is already in place the first time I try to print. You will plug it in, turn it on and follow the prompts on the screen to get connected to your wifi. Like most devices these days you will need to download and let it install updated drivers. Do not skip this step. It is worth the extra few minutes to be sure everything is up to date before using it to print the first time. We have had a few issues in the past with some printers not always working via wifi at home but so far this one has been flawless. We print from our kids school issued chromebooks, and our own personal laptops and mobile devices. Everything is turning out great. The touchscreen on this one is large enough for anyone to use. The last few I have had are fairly small touchscreens and trying to type on them or select certain settings can be tricky if you have larger fingers. This screen is a very nice size. You have a feature on this where you can scan directly to your computer. I like that and find I use it quite often. I am a huge fan of laser printers. SO MUCH BETTER than ink jets. Prints quickly and the quality of prints is amazing. From printing, color or B/W, to scanning to making copies. This does it all. S seamless connection to all my devices and I am very happy with this product.

It does it all
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This really is a nice color laser printer. It has all the modern functions you can ask for so it can be used in a home office environment, small business, or large enterprise. But all those features don't prevent you from quickly getting it setup and working. To use the more advanced features, you will have to use the Remote UI (web interface) to configure all the features. But this is fairly typical for most multi-function printers that have a lean towards business use. It has a document feeder on the very top (hidden under a door if not being used) that you can use for document scanning or copying. You can also always use the flatbed scanner underneath. Part of the setup process offers you to calibrate the color, which involves the machine printing out a document with color bars on it that you then place on the flatbed scanner for it to measure. This also is a nice test to ensure the basics are working. Once it's setup, anyone that's used a copier or printer in the last 10 years can probably figure this out. Windows 11 detected it no problem, and I was able to initiate scans from Windows without any proprietary software, and was also able to print to it no problem. Similarly, MacOS was able to find and print to it no problem. Image quality is very good, particularly black and white. Text is very sharp and clear, including with smaller fonts. Color is also superb, but it is a document printer, so don't expect magical color photo prints, but they still look very good as well. Speed is average, it's able to process jobs in a reasonable amount of time and crank out multiple pages without delay. The most obvious negative with this is that it is not very quiet. Not really an issue if this is in a copy or print room, but if you're putting it in a smaller office where you might be taking conference calls while this is working, you might find it to be distracting.

Quality Laser Printer/Great Color Printing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up for this printer is pretty straightforward. Find a place for it, remove the tape from every nook and cranny per instructions, then plug it in and follow the instructions on the touchpad. This is a laser printer and it has a larger footprint than your average inkjet printer. I was able to put this on a 16x16 inch end table with very little problem. Be aware that this is a heavy printer and will require a sturdy table. This printer can print, copy and scan. It does double-sided printing and scanning which I love because it saves on the number of pieces of paper you need. It prints quickly at 22 pages per minute. It holds up to 250 sheets of paper in the main tray which makes it nice so you don’t need to refill the paper tray as often. You can easily print from your PC, USB drive or even your phone. Scanning is a breeze and scans can be sent to an email address. With the document feeder, you can scan up to 50 pages at a time. The quality of printing is amazing. I printed a few pictures on regular paper and the color was quite true to life. Any jobs or projects you print will look truly professional and outstanding with colors that are amazing. I had no idea that a laser printer could be this good with printing colors. Whether you have a small business, work from home or need it for personal use, this is a great addition. You do not need to replace ink cartridges very often. The laser cartridges are rather expensive, but you do get what you pay for and the quality is excellent, professional looking and last much longer than the ink in an ink jet printer. I find this can save money in the long run, especially when using the high capacity toner cartridges. In my opinion you get more bang for your buck using a laser printer.

Love the efficiency
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laser printer is heavy duty, and heavy in weight too. Watch your back! Once it was set up for me, I absolutely loved it and the ease of making sharp laser copies. I can make copies easily and efficiently, from any room in my home. Definitely a step up from my previous printer.

Best Budget Color Laser Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great for small home business. I really wanted a laser printer vs an ink or eco tank. This one was affordable and works with scanning to email and WiFi printing. Only two cons is it is louder than other printers all in ones I’ve owned but I can deal with the loudness and the scan feeder at top is not front and back scan only one sided scan. A feature I would have preferred but is only available on the all in one with a fax. I would have spent the extra $50 to have the feature if I knew the limitations of the scan feeder was only one sided. Otherwise, I recommend this Cannon color laser all in one . I’ve learned to deal with the scan feeder not scanning double sided and just rescanning the back of the sheet manually.

Awesome Printer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been an amazing upgrade to my home office! I can do so much more with this all-in-one wireless color laser printer than I could with my former printer. While it is bigger and a little bit louder than my former printer, the benefits outweigh those two small cons.

Good Color Laser All-in-one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printers are routinely viewed as the demons of the technology world, they never seem to work right, get jammed, have issues, are difficult to install, configure, make work consistently, etc. In recent years, at least on the consumer side, things have been slowly improving, and I have to say that this printer has made large strides in that regard. To start, it's well packaged in a heavy box with thick styrofoam, fairly par-for-the-course in terms of packing. It comes with a power cord, documentation, a CD (who still uses a CD for drivers anymore?), and a plastic piece that has no explanation (more on that in a minute). It was listed in the documentation as including a network cable, but mine did not have one (I did not need it, so no big deal, I connected it via WIFI). Which brings us to setup. I plugged it in, went through the quick setup instructions which arent 100% clear, it mentions doing the color correction step which failed for me, and then it eventually brings you to the auto-reorder for the supplies (toner) which is not a required step but the instructions dont explain how to not have it (just pick decline) or how to set it up (it states you need to have configured that before setting up the printer, then you'd hit accept... again, not clear). But once stumbling through the quick setup, it kinda just 'works' which is a big part of the annoyance with printers. I went through the install on the PC for the drivers which I downloaded as opposed to using the CD (I dont have a CDROM drive anymore). The install was straightforward, it does state during the install that you need to ensure that the firewall on your machine is open, but it does not appear to do that for you (strange limitation). Fortunately my McAfee software opened it automatically just by identifying that it was printer software. The printer driver and scanner software appear to be separate but the install was quick enough and the test page printed successfully. When installing this on my work laptop I was prevented from installing the Canon driver software, but fortunately the default Windows drivers were allowed and worked perfectly. As for the function of the printer itself. It spins up very quickly and the first print is available in rapid fashion. It prints very quickly and the color reproduction is great (even with the failed color calibration task from the quick setup). Copying is straightforward both on the flatbed and with the document feeder, which is something I'll use a lot. And finally, scanning is good, but be sure to open the Scan software on the PC first. Some things to note: You may have challenges if your firewall or antivirus software needs a manual entry for the canon software, so just be aware. Second, I'm not sure why the color calibration failed to run on a brand new printer fresh out of the box, but it didn't seem to matter. Finally, the toner is EXTREMELY expensive, costing almost as much as the printer to replace the full set. I'm waiting for third party toner to be available, but right now it is not. All in all, it's a pretty good printer, a few minor issues in setup, but the function is good. Barring the issues above it works well and the stumbles were minor, but someone without my technical background may find this more challenging to set up than it should be.

A really good Canon printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's always been an argument between laser printer and inkjet printers users. Over the years, I have come to appreciate both, but each one for different purposes. Laser printers are what I would qualify as "office" printers and inkjet printers as "photo" printers. The Canon imageCLASS MF654Cdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer might be a viable choice for you if you're in need of a machine that can do both. This printer is rather big, but that's inherent with all laser printers or at least, most of them. I believe it is meant for an office setting, so make sure you have some space for it. Once unpacked and set up, you will need to download the drivers and the companion app. Note that if you want to print from your phone or tablet, this printer comes with a couple of options to do that. The guided setup is nicely done and gets you going pretty quickly. The display is intuitive and responsive and big enough to work with. Once the toners are in, pop some paper in the generously big drawer and you're good to go. I'm not a big fan of the companion app as it is a little rough to use. Nevertheless, it gets the job done. My first print was a 32 page manual in black and white. From start to finish, it only took about 45 seconds. My next prints were pie charts (everyone loves a good pie chart) and schematics in color. It took the printer a couple of minutes as the data was transferred to the unit over WIFI. The result was surprisingly good with even colors, no lines or artifacts, especially with laser printer paper. I have also printed out some promotional material on glossy paper and it came out really well. I have also tried the scanner (flatbed and feeder) and the speed was adequate, while the resulting images were just OK. I didn't push the DPI to anything above 300 DPI, so higher resolutions might offer better results. The copy function is just as good and somehow faster. So why should you choose this printer over an inkjet printer? Laser printer toners are massive and can handle more print loads before needing to be replaced. It also provides cleaner and visually more appealing results. The downside is the cost to replace the toners which might seem scary compared to ink, but realistically, the cost is similar as you'll be changing your ink carts way more often than the toners. An inkjet will deliver much more vibrant and rich photo prints, but with the right paper, you can obtain very nice results with Canon's imageCLASS printer. The bottom line is this: If your looking to buy a good laser printer which can handle bigger print volumes, give the Canon imageCLASS MF654Cdw a chance. It's a solid and easy to use device. I recommend it if you plan to use it in an office setting or a home office. You'll get your money's worth.
