This replaces an older inkjet MF642 unit I bought several years ago. Added feature of dual side scanning to what was a pretty good AIO unit. This laser is quite a bit quieter and faster for many operations than the inkjet was. I don't print a lot so cost per page does not matter to me. The 656 offers a lot of value/functionality, and assuming it lasts well like the 642 it will be well worth the money.

So far, so good. It is unfortunate that it is not a photo printer, although it will print a color page beautifully. I do use it for general document printing, although the types of envelopes it will print are limited. I still use my old inkjet printer for photos and envelopes. I still have yet to try out the fax feature.

Printer function is excellent. Disappointed in the scan function as it must be initiated from the PC. My former Brother unit was able to scan to email with a touch of the screen on the machine.

I am a teacher and use this for all my main copies. It is fast and does what i need it to do. I did have a hiccup of it leaving atreaks on the back of each certificate I was printing. Ran a cleaning cycle and hoping that resolves the issue.

This unit is Canon flexing their competence muscle. Aside from its fast color print speed, this model has a single pass, two side scan feature. There aren't anything out there that come close to the cost performance of this. I highly recommend.

So far so good. This lazer printer produces crisp documents and decent pictures. Warm up time short and noise when printing is minimal. Best off all haven’t had to clean printer heads from lack of use, unlike my last inkjet printer.

Solid Laser Printer. One Issue to Keep in Mind

Solid color laser printer for the price. Taking one star off for the following reason - trouble shooting instructions were lacking. Instructions manual goes through the basics of set up. Canon forum site is difficult to navigate when looking for answers to printer issues. Best answers to technical questions were found on YouTube.

    Canon AIO

I bought this to replace a 12-year old AIO printer I had in my office. The previous printer was a different manufacturer, and I was happy with it, but the newer models were a lot more expensive and seemed to have a larger carbon footprint than this one does. I also have a Canon ink jet AIO at home, and love it (way older than the laser AIO I just replaced). I am very familiar with the Canon brand and quality. My only complaint is that I haven't figured out how to get the paper settings just right so that it doesn't prompt me every time I print things to choose a drawer. There was no printed user manual, so I'll have to sift through the manual online (kinda a pain in the rear).

I needed an upgrade for my black and white printer. This one did the job, because it was easy enough to set up and I was able to print right away. The printer is heavy so make sure you get the help you need to move it around.

I'm not sure how long they are supposed to last, but after 6 years of use my previous Canon - image class printer with the same specs needed to be refreshed as the print quality had started to fade, and having it repaired instead of buying a new one was the practical choice. Works great, see you in another 6+ years hopefully!

Setup was fairly easy to follow. Only weird thing about it is the extra piece of plastic that comes in a bag. Still have no idea what its for and to be honest iI haven’t really needed to. Would buy again.
