This is not my first mini photo printer, however, it is my first Canon mini photo printer, and I’m really impressed with the speed of the printing. The print speed is about twice the speed I was expecting.
The device itself is really easy to set up, you just download the app, turn the device on, connect to the device Wi-Fi, and then the app should recognize the device. The app comes with a ton of templates to style your photos, and also lets you add text and and select the area of the photo that you want to print.
One thing I found really interesting is that you can use non Canon paper with this device. I have some HP paper at my house, and I was able to print on it without any problems. I will say that the Canon paper turned out better when I used it.
Overall, really happy with the printer, it’s very similar to other printers I’ve had, just a bit faster. It charges with a USB-C plug, which is my preferred plug, so really happy about that. The battery life seems to be good so far, and the device itself is ultra portable.

I've been pretty excited to give the IVY 2 a test run. Personally, I have never owned a small portable photo printer like this before. My last experience with owning a photo printer was 10+ years ago and you had to hook it up to a Windows PC to print. Needless to say, this was a very different experience compared to that.
The design of the device is really nice. It's a mix of soft plastics with a lightly textured bottom to help grip to most surfaces. Having USB-C charging onboard is awesome since most modern devices use the same port. There's a simple red and green light near the charging port to show its charging status (charging/charged), along with a light on top of the device to show what the device is up to - such as printing a photo, waiting for Bluetooth, low battery, etc.
The Canon Mini Print app has a LOT of features, so definitely give it a download if you're curious about its capabilities. There's everything from light photo editing capabilities, to borders, stickers, and plenty of other customization options. I honestly would not be able to list all of them here!
The quality of the prints is right where it needs to be in my opinion. This device is made for portability, and as such, printing/processing speed, good battery life, and ease of use are paramount. I think this device checks all the boxes for what's important in this product category. This is made for people who want fun-sized small prints that they can share with friends, stick to a binder, or put up on their photo board at home, and it's perfectly capable and up to the task for those use cases.
The only critique I can truly offer for the IVY 2 is that you might want to turn up the saturation slightly on some of your photos before printing. The photo prints don't look washed out or anything, but when most people these days are using smartphones with high quality displays and saturated colors, it becomes important to understand the difference between what you're seeing on a screen and what a photo should look like when printed.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this little device. The Canon Mini Print app is constantly getting updated with new features and designs to use, the device is capable of firmware updates to further upgrade and refine the user experience, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Canon has planned for this device. If someone in your life is a photo lover and always on the go, consider getting them the IVY 2. I think they'll really enjoy it!

My daughter loves to draw and take photos with her tablet. Unfortunately, we can never quite get the settings on the family printer right for great printed photographs. My mom purchased my kids instant cameras with immediate picture printout, but if the color wasn't quite right, the picture quality was subpar -- and that happened with a fair amount of frequency.
And then we found out about the Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer -- this thing has been AMAZING around Thanksgiving -- we visited a lot of family and she was able to take pictures, adjust the lighting, crop them, and have them ready to print -- but most importantly, she now has control where she didn't previously. She can choose just the right color or even print out her drawings. She has been taking these pictures and printing them for family as keepsakes and they have been a massive hit!
The paper runs at under a dollar, so while it's not cheap the convenience can not be understated. This printer is about the size of a deck of cards and charges with USB-C. It connects via bluetooth and comes with some paper to start printing 2" x 3" photos. There isn't a need for ink because of the unique Zero Ink (ZINK) technology built into the paper.
The only mild down fall was that she can print about 23 sheets per charge, but that turned out to be beneficial because she knows to pick and choose the pictures she wants. The paper is about 50 cents per picture, which seemed quite reasonable to me. The paper did jam, but it was easy to fix with the red light indicator that flashed.
This is really quite the device to have with you around loved ones and it made Thanksgiving much more memorable for everyone.

Nice compact photo printer that uses zero ink to take prints anywhere anytime. The print quality has just the right contrast & sharpness and uses the colorful dye-based crystals that are embedded in the printer paper. The cool thing is that ZINK enabled device uses heat to activate & colorize these crystals. It connects to Bluetooth instantly to print the photos almost immediately on 2 X 3 peel & stick paper and it is easily carried in a pocket to print the pictures on the go. I was able to charge it completely in almost 50 mins and lasted pretty long enough. Each print takes around 45 seconds to print. My daughter was so fascinated with this printer that she created a hand-made card for her dad's birthday. You will need a mobile device to be connected to this Canon printer via Bluetooth to be used by Canon mini print app (available at Google Play & App store). I wish it comes with a cover to be stored while not in use. The pictures can also be customized using the app features to add frames, stickers, filters, text, tile print, and collage print, these features give the picture a much-needed spark to make it trendy.

I bought this printer for a recent organizational project. I used it to print pictures of various cables (VGA, power, HDMI etc) and put the sticky backed pictures on the tote. It works amazing! The pictures are bright and vivid. The stickers are VERY sturdy and industrial strength. They attach to a plastic tote or anythjng else you want and will not come off unless you REALLY try. I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend!!

Tiny pics printed out slowly for you

This is a well-made mini portable photo printer that suffers from slow performance and is fairly niche in terms of usage. It measures about 8.5 x 12 x 2 cm and weighs 187 g, small and light enough to fit in a typical jeans pocket (although the bulge in the front pocket would be pretty noticeable and a little uncomfortable). The plastic is solid, although a little slippery -- for something that's intended to be portable, it might have been better to make the material a little grippier.
Loading photo paper is easy -- a 50-pack goes for about $25, but at least you don't have to worry about buying more ink (this is inkless technology). Connecting the printer to my Pixel 7 Pro required installation of Canon's Mini Print app. The connection process was fairly straightforward, although it didn't connect at first straight out of the box -- I think I had to charge the printer up more.
Printing photos also requires the Mini Print app, which gives you the option of selecting a photo that's already on the phone's storage or snapping a new photo using the app itself. I couldn't get the latter to work, since there was a constant spinning circle in front of the viewfinder for at least 20 seconds -- not sure if this was just a very slow one-time initiation, or if it was truly glitched. It was easier for me to take a photo using the main Camera app on the phone, and then selecting it through the Mini Print app.
Once a photo has been selected, there are a number of editing options, including the usual things like brightness, color saturation, rotation, etc.; but also a lot of frames and stickers, as well as the ability to add text or freehand drawing. It can be challenging to sift through all the options, since they show up as a single row that you can swipe horizontally to see more -- there's no search option as far as I can tell. In addition, many of the frames and stickers look fairly cheap and unhip.
The printing process is slow. It takes about 2 minutes from tapping the Print button to the photo being ready. The photo itself is also really small -- 4.8 x 7.5 cm, so think a wallet-sized photo (for those of you who still remember what a wallet is). At this size, group photos will tend to lose a lot of their charm, since each person's face will be pretty tiny, and ironically, some of the stickers that you can add in the app would also lose their impact since it'd be hard to discern what they're supposed to be.
I think this is a product that is best for certain niches, like for parties (essentially a mini photo-booth). However, the slowness of the printing process might detract from the pace of a party, and the small size of the photos makes them primarily useful as wallet-sized keepsakes for the most part.

Quick Review: I gave it 4 stars but it's actually more like 4-1/2. This is a nice, simple photo printer for quick, small photos. It's fairly easy to set up and it's actually quite easy to modify and personalize the photos. It's great for parties. The kids and adults love it and the photos actually last quite a while. I know this because I previously owned a competitor’s product and have photos that are over 4 years old and still look great. The paper does curl a bit over time but most photos do if they are not kept in an album. The only real issue I have is the overall cost for something that seems so simple and single purpose. The good thing is there is no ink to buy and no waiting for ink to dry. Just put in the paper and print. This makes the cost of the printer and the paper a little more palatable.
Longer Review: The Canon Ivy is a small, rechargeable, Bluetooth, novelty printer for taking fun photos and personalizing them. It comes with the printer, a USB C to USB A cable, a 10 pack of paper/film and a few decorative cards that you can stick the photos to that act like a paper frame. It does not come with a USB charger. You need to provide that.
After removing the printer from the packaging, the first thing to do is charge the printer. I connected the provided cable to the printer, which is quite short (maybe 6") and plugged it into one of my USB chargers. The USB C end goes into the printer. It charged quickly out of the box.
The next thing to do is load the paper by sliding the cover off. The paper goes in with the barcode sheet facing down. Then just slide the lid back on. FYI - The cover slides very easily. Almost too easily. I was constantly having to slide it back into place. It should be made so that the lid is more secure.
Then you need to download the software. I aimed my iPhone camera at the QR code on the inside cover of the box and tapped the link that popped up. It took me right to the app which I promptly downloaded.
Connecting the printer to the app was quite easy. Make sure Bluetooth is on in the phone settings, turn on the printer and open the app. Tap the printer icon in the top right corner to add a printer. It will look for the printer. Once it finds it, tap the printer to connect and wait a few seconds. The printer will be connected.
Once the app is loaded and the printer connected, it's time to take and print some photos. I was able to immediately see all the photos on my phone. If you can't get into your photos, check the iOS settings for the app and make sure you give the app access to all your photos. I selected a sweet 16 photo of my niece and was able to edit the photo in the app - zoom in and out, change the tone, crop, etc. I was also able to add small graphics very easily and position them around my niece. I added some flowers along the bottom and some hearts along the top of the photo. Adding the graphics was very easy and intuitive. After I was happy with how the photo looked, I hit print and the printer started doing its thing. The photo printed quickly and it looks great. The colors were accurate and the photo was sharp.
As I noted in the quick review, I previously had a competitor’s product. It was also very good but I have to say, the Canon printer's software is much more intuitive to use and gives you a much larger selection of graphics to add to the photos. The photos on the Canon using the included Canon paper were also more accurate compared to the same photo printed with my old printer. As an added benefit, the Canon printer will use the similar Zinc Photo Paper that I purchased for my old printer. You are not locked into Canon paper if you can't find it. However, for the best results, I would recommend the Canon paper.
All in all, I do recommend this little printer. Especially if you have kids or attend/host parties. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty darn good. Sure, it’s a little costly for what it is (paper is about 50 cents per print) but it is fun and it captures memories. I still look at the photos I have stuck and stashed around the house. They make me smile. What are smiles worth? They are priceless...

This is very interesting little printer. It doesn't use ink!? Apparently, it's built in to the printer paper itself.
Install was a little tricky. You don't push down and pop it like it seems to be but push the whole top section just back with a little force. That's the hardest part of the whole process. You download the app, turn the printer on and connect to it via bluetooth, open it up and install ALL the paper and blue configuration as shown. Install is complete.
Opening the app can connect you to your instagram, facebook, google photos and camera roll. The ONE star I take off is RIGHT here.
On the Photo Album inside the app where you choose which photo you want to print it gives you ONE chance to choose which photos from your camera roll you want to import to the app. There's no way to add more without closing the app and going back. Additionally, you have to understand that you can click "All Photos V" to get access to the rest of the photo services. That's a little frustrating.
You can also import from the camera roll itself but it's IOS it's not under PRINT but under Print to Canon.
Print quality isn't going to be retina level of course but it's good. I tested the sticker paper and its ok. Print speed is fast and the colors don't smudge.
I wish printer paper was cheaper especially in bulk. It's about 50 cents each. You just want to print a crap top of photos as soon as you have this.

i doo love this printer! ive had it for a month now and i absolutely love it!
pros: very small, light and easy to carry. you can customize how many pictures you want in the little sheet. there are 10 sticky photos included. the instructions and pairing is very easy as well. you dont need ink at all! so none of that messiness
cons: the photos do have a blue filter and do become darker than the original image but you can adjust that and play with the settings. you only can use the sticky paper canon sells. a little overpriced for the quality
i would only recommend if youre okay with having a blue filter and if youre okay with messing with the sets. the photos might not come out as perfect but again its cute

Portable and fun photo printer

This little printer is a lot of fun. My daughter has a Fuji Instax camera that spits out Polaroid type pictures. This is very similar, but without the need of the clunky camera. This sleek little printer is about the size of a phone charger. I have the blush pink color, which is definitely cute.
The printer was very easy to set up and connect to my iPhone 13. I downloaded the app and I just followed the simple instructions. There aren’t instructions in the box, everything is online or in the app. It was easy to load the packet of photo paper that was included in the box. For my first picture I found one in my photo library that my daughter and I had just taken a few days before. There are many ways to customize the picture, sort of like Snapchat. Frames, stickers, filters, you name it. Then I printed it out, and it’s just so fun! The paper is 2”x3” and has a sticker back. You don’t have to peel and stick it if you don’t want to, it can just be a picture.
The cost of the paper is about .50¢ per photo, or so. The paper is sort of spendy, but it’s much easier than carrying around a dedicated (and boxy) camera. With this, you take a picture on your phone, which you already have on you. You can edit it to your heart's content and then print it however you want. It can be done right there, because it’s so compact and portable, or later. This would make a great gift!

Canon – IVY Mini Photo Printer Surprisingly Good

I have to admit I was skeptical that this very small device would perform well. The entire printer is only slightly larger than a standard deck of playing cards. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
First thing, I fully charged the printer using the USB A to C cable that came in the package. Then I tried out the printer with my Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra (Android) phone. I downloaded the Canon Mini Photo Printer app and followed the app instructions to pair the printer and connect to the phone. I loaded the included 10 pack of special photo paper and the accompanying blue card (logos down) into the printer per the instructions. Then took an informal picture using the app. Still using the app, I sent the shot to the printer. At first I didn’t think it worked, but then I saw the light on the printer begin to flash and after a bit the photo began to emerge. The small photo 2”by3” actually turned out good.
I tried again using my phone’s NFC connection with similar nice results. Then I tried using my iPad Pro and the Apple version of the Cannon Mini Photo Printer app with a Bluetooth connection. I had similar good results using the iPad. You can take a photo from the app or select an existing image already on your mobile device.
There was a 10 pack of the special photo paper included in the box. I also found several sources for more “Canon Zink Photo Paper” at a reasonable price. The special paper comes in a 20 pack or a 50 pack. The photos are “instant print” as in no ink required. Instead, the photo develops directly on the paper. The photos each have a backing that can be removed, turning the picture into a sticker. Or you can leave the backing on for a more durable photo.
Only four stars because I think the usefulness is limited since many people just share images digitally without ever printing them. But if you want to print, this has possibilities.

I recently got the Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer, and I’m honestly impressed! It’s small enough to fit in my pocket, which makes it perfect for parties, travel, or just printing fun memories on the spot. The setup was quick- I downloaded the app, connected via Bluetooth, and was printing within minutes.
The print quality is bright and colorful, and I love that it uses ZINK paper (no messy ink cartridges to replace). The photos have a peel-and-stick back, which makes them great for decorating notebooks, scrapbooks, or even my phone case.
Battery life has been solid for my use, and it charges quickly. It’s a fun little gadget that adds a personal touch to any event or gift. If you like instant photos, I definitely recommend it!

The Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer in Pure White is incredibly easy to use. Setting it up is a breeze, and the compact design makes it portable and convenient. Really easy way to print photos from your phone! I chose this over the fujifilm instax mini because the photos that get printed are thinner (so they easily fit in memory books and such without making the pages so bulky). The fact that the photos are adhesive is a nice bonus.
